Hello, all...

A little about myself. I'm a relative newb as far as role-playing games go. My first exposure was back in grade school watching a friend's older brother drawing up maps but I never had the chance to play. I didn't get involved with them again until university where I was introduced to Shadowrun and played for an extended period. Although I have played a lot of crpgs (Baldur's Gate, Wizardry, Icewind Dale, etc.) that has been the extent of my p&p experience. I have purchased a few books over the years (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, a couple of 3e books) but it wasn't until recently when I discovered Kickstarter that I started to actively look at rejoining the hobby. I 'purchased' the Castles & Crusades Players Handbook as well as a few other games that looked and sounded interesting.
I have been spending a lot of time over on the Basic Fantasy Role-Playing Game forums and am in several PbP games there. When rredmond mentioned that someone was looking to start a C&C game here I jumped at the chance.
One other reason that I'm looking to get back in the hobby is that my kids are now getting to gaming age so I actually have a ready-made gaming group right here at home.

Anyways, I'm really enjoying being re-introduced to gaming and am looking to have a lot of fun here.

Good to see you here. I've been gaming with my oldest for about three years now. She's ten, my 8yo has been gaming for a couple years now too. My five year old, well she's likes to help the DM roll to kill her sisters. The 2yo, she just likes the dice. :D
Great fun gaming with my kids. It's the best, but I'm a 1E (OSRIC) guy. I'm sure your time here will be fun. It's a great way to get reintroduced to the games we loved because of the pacing.

Be well and enjoy!

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

I have been gaming with my oldest, who is now 9, for several years. Our 7 year old is interested in the dice but not the game. Our 5 and 2-1/2 year old also want to play, but they need mom's help. So far, our youngest hasn't shown any interest...but he's only 7 months old. 8-)

Welcome to US.

Welcome! Everyone here in the forums is great and there's new systems and games popping up all the time. I don't have any kids yet but something tells me talking the wifey into letting them play roleplaying games will be difficult. Consider yourselves blessed :D

Sell it as "stealth homeschooling" in interpersonal relationships, probability, statistics, history, and mythology. 8-)

Better yet, ask her to play with you and the kid(s). Make her the healer :) She may actually get into it.

Heh, I've actually seen that exact tactic work well three separate times! ;)
Yosef Travathas: High Elf Fighter4/Magic-User3 (rredmond's Pacesetter Games "Legacy of the Unknown" OSRIC Playtest)
Brok Sterling: Human Assassin3 (ToniXX's Incursion into Newiron OSRIC Playtest)
Tanik Tremwoodak: Dwarf Cleric3 (Dave's 1e Skype Game)

DM: home-brew OSRIC "A New Hope to the West" campaign

Fireball... good!!

"What's it gonna take?"
"Everything."

Already attempted and miserably failed, she won't give me the time of day to get her into it. She loves me but funny enough finds RP'ing to be really weird and a little creepy

Then sell it as 100% effective birth control ;) ... She's too young to be a grandma, right?

My wife played the cleric role once, but wasnt too much into it. she is ok with the boys playing, but still remembers her youth where only the 'creepy' kids played it.

My wife played a hobbit thief. She enjoyed the 2 or 3 times she's played but prefers to be on the sidelines watching the kids play.

No were both in our 20's so that may be it. The goal is if we have children to get them into it... then she'll be forced to fall under the spell of Tabletop games!
