Danny passes Vhing in order to inspect the broken table in the corner of the entrance hall. The wood is quite rotted and wouldn't make very good support for the stairway.

The large group starts to reform into two smaller party's. Doubtful rejoins the back group of Burly, Keilif, and Jonas. He suggests a valid system of checking two rooms at once.

Burly pushes the corner door open to reveal what was obviously the kitchen. The room is dirty and damp, with patches of grey mold and cobwebs all over the floor, walls, and ceiling. In the corner to your left is some cooking equipment with a chimney above it. Next to it, under the window, is a cracked and discolored stone sink. To the right of the sink a small closed wooden cupboard that is fixed to the wall. Against the far wall is a closed door and another rotting, rickety stairway that leads up to the second floor. Dusty broken dishes and other garbage is strewn about the room.

The central group of Jervis, Ermulf, Alec, and Ben look to the brash half-orc, waiting for his next move. That's when Vhing unfortunately discovers the hard way, the origin of the shuffling noises heard earlier. He bashes the locked western door open with his hammer, shouting out to anyone inside. He is immediately greeted with the sounds of twanging bowstrings and three horribly ugly creatures gurgling to each other in some hideous language.

The trio of horrible goblins is positioned behind the remains of an old dining room table that is turned on its side to create makeshift cover for them. Behind them, one of the dirty windows is partially opened. They catch the aggressive Vhing totally by surprise when all three of them fire their crude short bows at him at near point blank range.

The first arrow sails wide and bounces off the now opened door. The second and third shots fly straight at the half-orc. With a loud thud, one unbelievably sticks into the wooden handle of his hammer. Before he can even think about reveling in his dumb luck, the last arrow pierces him directly through his throat. Blood and spittle pour out of both wounds as he drops to his knees. He coughs out something unintelligible, spitting blood towards his assailants, right before he looses consciousness. He begins to fall backwards, still bleeding profusely, with the arrow sticking through his neck. (4 damage/unconscious)

Seeing the others behind him and anticipating a quick charge, the goblins drop their bows and pull out crude spears. They stay put behind the table.

Actions!
Things just got real, folks. Two misses and a crit. A half-orc being crited by a lowly goblin? Ouch!

To be fair, I've decided that critical hits against 0 level will only count as normal hits with no extra damage taken.

Doubtful

Whether alerted by hall monitor alarm or noise of the attack/reactions, Doubtful calls to the Burly Exploration Team They're in trouble! Let's go! and then rushes to where the other group is to take in the situation.

Alec

Fur de Glory uff Stone! Alec shouts as he charges the goblins. If he has enough movement, he'll slam into the table, hoping to push it out of the way- or maybe into one or more of the goblins.

I forgot to mention that only Alec, Ben, Ermulf, and Jervis can rush in to attack this round. Anyone that was in the hallway can get to the doorway where Vhing is and make an action, but won't get there in time to make an attack.

Ben steps around Vhing knowing that the poor bastard will have to stand fast until the battle is won. He shouts, "No rest for the wicked lads!"and charges into the room to smash upon a goblin and take it's loot!

To Hit [1d20] = 18

Could Keilif reach Vhing and possibly pull him out of the fray to staunch his wounds? I have no healing left, but I could at least stop him from bleeding out. I just wanted to make sure this was possible before writing it up.

Yes, this is certainly possible. You are all only a few feet away from each other. I just can't allow attacks this round from characters that weren't already right at the door.

Keilif:

Hearing the commotion erupt from down the hall, Keilif spins on his heels and rushes to investigate. What he sees literally pulls the breath from his chest, leaving him both mentally and physically shaken.

Vhing lies in a pool of his own blood, wracked with seizures as an arrow protrudes from his neck. Keilif has witnessed accidents before while out on the fishing ships, but this tragedy is utterly indescribable. He returns to his senses, pulls Vhing out into the hallway for protection, and kneels beside his fallen comrade to attempt to staunch the vicious wound. Keilif utters a silent prayer to Shileil while blood continues to spurt from the half-orc's neck, leaving the man's body with each shallow beat of his heart.

Knowing he can't help Vhing or join the battle for all the other bodies in the room and hallway, Burly decides to stand guard just outside the door to the kitchen where he can watch both it and the hallway they entered. You never know what might be drawn to the sounds of combat and he'd prefer not to be taken off guard.

Position: Standing in hallway with one eye on the kitchen and the other on the back door. Rolling pin in hand.

Seeing the arrow of the small demon punch through the half orcs neck dropping him as blood spurts, Jervis feels the rush of adrenaline. This is it! finally the time has arrived.

FOR GLORY!

Ermulf Jormundson:

Shocked at seeing one of his newfound friends so gravely wounded, Ermulf gives his best battle cry and charges the goblins. His pitchfork raised, he tries to spear the nearest one through the belly.

Init: [1d10] = 2 to hit: [1d20] = 7 Damage: [1d4+1] = 4+1 = 5

Doubtful

Doubtful rushes to the scene, worried about the melee in progress but one look at Vhing's condition makes clear where his focus needs to be in the moment. Kneeling by Vhing, he lays one hand on the 1/2 orc and quietly utters his succor cantrip mantra to heal his comrade.

succor damage heal [1d2] = 1

When he opens his eyes he looks down upon Vhing to see what,if any, improvement was wrought. Speaking softly he asks, Someone tell me what they see in the room, both the attackers and the room itself.

Jónas Gillman

Things got real?! On the contrary -- Jónas feels this is all a bad dream. Being bitten by a giant rat, the wound he's proud to have received is definitely NOT an arrow to the throat... One half of his brain says "run away!", while the other faintly whispers something about bravery and duty. He runs over to help Doubtful in dragging the weighty half-orc out of the fray.

Goblin Hideout
Round 1

Even though he is completely freaked out by the sight of what has just happened, Keilif rushes to the dying Vhings side. With the help of Doubtful and Jonas, he pulls his unmoving form to the side of the doorway to let the others pass by. He takes a deep breath and snaps the fletching end off of the poorly made arrow. He yanks the pointy end out the back of Vhings neck and then, by applying just the right amount of pressure on both wounds with his clean rags, he is able to stop the bleeding. Vhing continues to make gurgling noises, still trying to talk through his unconsciousness.

Jonas looks like he is going to puke but continues to help where he can. Doubtful sees the severity of Vhings situation and begins another meditative prayer. Her rubs some green leafy substance around in his fingers and smears it on the wounds while he chants. Amazingly, the holes in the orcmans thick hide begin to close and he slowly opens his eyes. (at 1hp and feeling extremely lethargic)

Burly smartly decides that another body will only be in the way. He stays in his current position and watches the doors and stairs at the back end of the house. This prompts Danny to do the same in the front after he rushes back to the hall to find his fallen companion now in good hands.

Inside the room, the cramped battle builds.

Alec is clearly not afraid of blood......or goblins. He charges past the prone Vhing and into the room, shoulder blocking the center of the tipped table barricade at full speed. His momentum is powerful enough to break the rotten table in half. He crashes right through it in fact, and pins the middle goblin helplessly up against the far wall while the two turned table halves block the other goblins from being able to attack him.

Ermulf and Jervis rush in right behind Alec and head towards the goblin on the left. They find the little bugger to be quicker than anticipated as it evades each of their attacks. In doing so, it's return attack is also quite feeble.

Ben the stoic sailor rushes in fearlessly as well, heading straight for the unengaged goblin to the right. After avoiding the little wretches spear thrust, he swings his fish brainer hard into the things skull. It staggers back into the wall with a dizzy look in its eyes, but manages to stay on its feet, barely.

Actions!

Three goblins remain. One of them is seriously wounded. I would allow 2 more people to join in the battle, but no more.

hoorah for old school mapmaking!

Vhing Bloodpool

Vhing lies in the corridor, gasping for breath, his voice raspy, face pale green and gaunt. He grasps Doubtful by the hand,"I knocked the door and surprised the little buggers alright. Gosh there must be half a dozen of them in there, hiding under the tables and sneaking out the window. Did you see how I ducked and dived them arrows, parried one right onto me shaft and I tried to catch the last one with my teeth but I reckon I sneezed at the last minute....and then I was falling down a well shaft with Danny at the top, sprinkling me with a golden shower of dice, then the light came and it was Juli inviting me home to come and snuggle into her plump lactating mammaries like a suckling pig. My mouth was just closing on her soft warm nip....
Doubtful, why did you bring me back then!?"
Vhing lies back down in the corridor both grateful and mournful. Go help the others buddy, I'll stay here on guard.".

Keilif:

Seeing that Vhing is now stable, well...as stable as the half-orc can be, Keilif cautiously enters the room and moves to assist Alec with the goblin he is facing.

Yes, there are two windows. They are filthy but they still let in enough light to easily see by. The left window is partially open. About enough for a goblin to dive through. ;)
