Cool. Thanks, guys. I'll wait a little bit to hear from MM and Wyzard, and then proceed. As far as I know, you guys are just heading southwest and making an educated guess of the distance and terrain based on the directions received to the south in Caius' Place.

BTW, I'll assign XP for the coins found under the hill.

126 golden eagles (Decimus saddlebags)
607 silver sesterces (Tacitus saddlebags?)
436 cupric coins (Alfius saddlebags)

So, 126 + 60.7 + 4.36 = 191.06.

191.06/4 = 47.765 base XP per man.

With XP bonuses, all PCs not Decimus get 50 XP per man.

Decimus, who has a killer score in his prime stat, gets 53 XP.

Ok, Decimus will buy 5 weeks rations, a grappling hook and 4 flasks of oil.

Wiki updated.

Are we going to share out the gold as we'll probably use it for expenses pretty quickly.

Just as DM, it might make sense (since the gold is on saddlebags right now), to wait a bit before making any decisions as there's no immediate impact to PC weight carried. As you suggest, though, it would probably be easier to blow it all on shared expenses eventually rather than divide out---especially--the silver and the copper.

All right, I'm off to update IC.

Wyzard: Sorry, jefe---I assume you're busy & haven't had a chance to post today, and I want to strike while the iron's hot as far as posting while I have time.

I'm not sure how far we've traveled, so based on that and the distances we've just been given (a score to the castle, three miles to the dwelling of the farmers) does it seem likely that they do, in fact, reside in the bandit castle?

How far you've travelled: based on the time (about 11:30 AM) and the rate you travel (240, so 48 mpd), it would be reasonable to assume that y'all have travelled nearly two dozen miles. Maybe knock that down to about twenty since the ground's started to get a little hilly and forested over the last hour or so of travel.

I know that Wyzard is having issues with internet connectivity at his house and is posting less frequently than normal.

It's fine. Tacitus would spend his share on a few more weeks of rations (1 week fresh, to eat now, 2 weeks iron to replace what he's eaten in the past couple weeks.)

That sucks. Comcast or Verizon?

All: It has been established in-character that the adventurers have their suspicions concerning these woodland workmen. Any next steps? Or are y'all waiting for the NPCs to react to the whispering?

Of course if these guys are the bandits then going along with them might be a good way of getting in where we can sort them out.

Guys, I'm going to have to withdraw, at least for a while. I'm not doing a good job of keeping up with things, and I need to focus on the game I'm going to run.

Shoot! Thanks for letting me know. The game you're talking about running sounds really cool, from what you told me of it.

Wyzard, sorry to see you go even if its just for a while.

I think that we can try a distraction by throwing down some coins then using our magic and fighting skills to put these guys down.

Totally meta, but what are you going to do with Wyzard's character? It kinda affects my thinking for what we're going to do.

EDIT: It makes a big difference if we have one or two fighters with us.

We're still on riding horses, aren't we? Charging into battle on one might not be a great idea. I think we should withdraw for the moment, and then perhaps try to advance on foot under cover.

Definitely the same sentiment on my part, and I hope it goes without saying.

His character isn't going to disappear in the middle of the fight, if that's what you're asking.

My general thinking at this point is to move his character off-screen following whatever y'all end up doing with the bandit/kidnapped dude 'quest'. This is all provided Tacitus doesn't die; I'm certainly not going out of my way to do that or anything, but the dice will fall where they may, just as they would with any other character.

I had assumed that you guys were mounted, but if anyone wants to say "my guy is actually on foot leading his horse right now", that's not going to piss me off or anything. It would be reasonable and logical to assume that some or all of the party had switched to being on foot & leading horses since you guys are walking next to people who don't have horses.
