You all definitely hear a tiny little voice, but only Oiran is close enough to understand what it said.

With an arrow nocked and with Serenity perched between his pack and neck , Cirdan moves slowly further into the interior of the room to flank the tiny creature.

Sterling walks over toward Oiran, and whispers him...

His attention turned, Rollo advances with the group to the source of the sound for closer inspection.

[Dogma]

A talking crab. Will the wonders never cease? Thought Leomar. I wonder how that thing would taste?

Leomar hold his position and waits to see what happens...

Sterling walks over toward Oiran, and whispers him...

"It...it..." gasps Oiran, still flabbergasted at the talking crustacean "It claims to be the Guardian of this chamber and threatens us to leave."

Oiran turns to face Sterling and the paladin can see the cleric is this close to crack up and start laughing.

"Pray tell, ask it what it is guardian of, other than mud and ruins?"

Leomar advances until he is next to Rollo, to better hear the exchange between the clric and the crawfish.

Sterling will address the creature, hoping his charisma eases his cause..
My fellow guardian,
We would gladly leave your home, but we don't know how. We were forced here against our will, and fell through a bit of rubble. If you would tell us a safe way out, we shall eagerly follow.

Rollo stifles a giggle from the rear. Can we not communicate with our boot and carry on? He whispers between laughter.

Xam; although initially shocked by the fact that a crayfish/lobster/thing was SPEAKING to one of his fellow adventurers; quickly recovered as he had experienced any number of 'crazy' things in his time delving dungeons and exploring ruins.

Looking sharply over at Rollo; Xam spoke up; "I wouldn't be so quick to laugh my friend; afterall; have you never heard the tales of huge lizards with wings that can cast spells and breath fire? Or seen living statues or the dead that walk? There are many strange creatures and magics out there....many of which can be quite dangerous."


Nodding towards Sterling; Xam continues with; "I'm absolutely in agreement with Sterling....we aren't here by choice; so better to attempt to not fight anything we encounter if we can help it". Xam didn't mention that he was EXCEEDINGLY glad it was not himself who was currently serving as the party's spokesman. The very thought of it was uncomfortable enough for Xam to shake his head and keep his mind on his current situation....

Biting back a retort and mumbling something about children's stories, Rollo patiently waits to hear the outcome of this 'encounter'.

"I'm not the guardian ya human fool! He is!" the little crayfish says as he taps the bamboo staff with a claw. "You'd be wise to mind yer manners."It says as it snaps a claw in your direction. "If yer truly here by no fault of yer own then I'll give ya a chance to leave peacefully. The fastest way out is that way, use it before I change my mind." is says in a irritated tone as it points a claw at the east door.

Sterling quickly realizes his verbal blunder. He continues the conversation.

Uh, my apologies. I didnt hear your words directly. Can you tell us more about the way out? We do not mean to impose upon the owner of this place any more than we must. May we count on you to assist us in getting completely out to the surface.

Thundrigore observes the crustaceans tirade with amusement. "A little insolent for an horderve, isn't he?", he chuckles. "Do you suppose it's a trick? I wonder if the eastern door is trapped?"

Leomar leans in closer to Rollo and whispers, "Does he mean that stick is the guardian? That doesn't make any sense. How can a stick be a guardian?

[Bhart]

The little crayfish stares at Sterling for a long moment. Then with a sigh it continues, "The hall beyond that door leads to stairs that will take you back to the surface."Judging by its tone the little crustacean is struggling to be patient.

When the magic user speaks the crayfish snaps a claw in his direction. "Move along round belly or yer the one who'll become a snack."

Sterling looks at the door again and back at the crayfish... Thank you again, but please remember that our party is a bit tired. We do not mean to wear on anyone's patience. Are there any traps or such we need to watch for. We would hate to leave a body here for you to clean up.

"Don't know, Don't care as long as ya take yer squishy pink hides out of our room." The crayfish waves a claw at the east door for emphasis

The crayfish clacks its claws together as it waits, growing more impatient by the second. "Well don't stand around like a bunch of slack jawed baboons all day, make yer decision!" he finally blurts out. "Do you take one of the doors or do I have ta bring the pain?"
