Sylvan waits near the entrance, standing to the side and waiting for everyone else to pass. He'll guard the rear, and say to Grim "Stay close, I'll give you a tap of the wand when we're out of danger."

The druid retreats down the hall, guarding the party's rear, ready to set his spear in the face of any charge.

Round 2
"There's five more of them," Ciar shouts as he makes a break for the bridge crossing the chasam. "Little bastards! Since when do they strategize like this?" Leliana wonders aloud as she passes Sylvan, who stands guard near the entrance, back pressed against the wall, waiting for everyone else to pass. Grim and Sorsha come next. Sparrow, heeding the words of the halfling, backs his way towards the exit using his sheild to try to block any projectiles fired in his direction, and manages to deflect a few.

Ciar dodges, ducks, dips, dives, and dodges as he crosses to, and over, the bridge, with a few arrows sailing harmlessly past him. "Clear out. They have the advantage," he yells, then grabs Fulp by the shoulder and prevents the man from attempting to cross to the north. "This way," he shouts, forcefully guiding him towards a second exit in southwest corner of the room, previously hidden from Fulp by the darkness.

The party is split.

No actions yet. My plan is to run both groups here in the main public forum, hiding the various groups in spoiler tags, so please only read the information pertinent to your character.

But, before continuing, I need to know who is carrying the two everlit torches. I see a couple character sheets that have them listed, and one that doesn't (that I thought did). Thanks!

I thought Sparrow was carrying one but Kassal took it from him. Now that Kassal is gone, I assumed Sparrow got it back.

I have it on my sheet but I don't care if someone else wants to carry it.

For the time being, Ciar and Sparrow will have the everlit torches.

---

Northern Group (Only: Leliana, Grim, Sorsha, Sylvan, Sparrow)
The five that were to the north escape without harm, for now, but can't be certain whether the kobolds will be in pursuit... or, since they were not aware of any other exit in the room, where their other two companions are. Leliana is in front, and the torch is with Sparrow near the rear, but the illumination from the everlit torch is enough to shine to the end of the current passage heading north until it turns due west.

Southern Group (Only: Ciar, Fulp)
Ciar leads Fulp out of the combat zone and, at least for now, into the safety of the southern passage. The light from Ciar's torch illuminates a longer hallway continuing west, or another side passageway heading southeast.

Leliana North Side:
Leliana walks slowly down the corridor, slow enough that she is never too far from the group, and thus, the light. Her sword and shield are still out and at the ready.

Northern Group (Only: Leliana, Grim, Sorsha, Sylvan, Sparrow)
Leliana, sword and shield at the ready, remains in the point position and begins walking slowly down the corridor heading north, careful to not stray too far from the group, and the light. Sparrow, the torch bearer, stops after 20-feet or so and turns to see if there is any pursuit. No kobolds seem to be interested in sacrificing their strategic advantage, and don't seem to be following the group, but then he realizes neither Ciar nor Fulp are trailing behind either. "Fulp! Ciar! Are you coming?" he calls out at the top of his lungs; his voice echoing throughout the narrow, cramped passageway. "We ran to the north!" he says, before retreating a few steps back towards the cavern the group just left to survey the situation.

Northern Group:
Sylvan uses the wand on Grim, hoping to restore full health.

Cure light wounds [1d8] = 5 on GrimCure light wounds [1d8] = 5 on Grim

He cries out "Fulp, Ciar, are you alright?"

Whispering to the others, he asks "Did they fall? Did anyone see them?"

Sorsha, Northern Group
"I didn't see them." hisses the red head. "We can't just leave them. Ciar said to flee. He must have been hit, or worse, captured!"

A moment later, Leliana sushes her red headed companion and the rest of the group after she spies a flickering light approaching from the west, from the direction of the well room they passed through to reach their current location.

North group
Sparrow holds his ground outside of bow range and watches at the cavern entrance.

If he also sees the lights coming from behind, he responds.

It may be the others! They could have found an alternate route back to us. Why would kobolds be using a light source?

He continues to hope that the kobold archers will drop their bows and charge at him.

Sparrow, while still keeping watch to the south, bracing himself for a potential pursuit from the kobolds, hears Leliana and catches a glimpse of the flickering flame illuminating the northern corner where female elf stands. "It may be the others!" he whispers. "They could have found an alternate route back to us. Why would kobolds be using a light source?"

Sure enough, Ciar and Fulp emerge as the source of the approaching light.

Ciar shakes his head and hisses, "Whatteryouall shoutin' about for? I told you the two tunnels connect from that big room..."

He glances over at Grim to check his OK, "Everyone alright? Obviously there's still some kobolds about. We need to figure out how to deal with them, and quickly, before they surround us. In fact, I'd suggest we high tail it on out of here and think about this in the open..."

In fact, after he says that, he turns and starts making his way back to the open sky.

The group successfully makes it out of the northern tunnel and returns to the boulder-concealed front entrance.

Sorsha rushes out and breathes the fresh air deeply. After catching her breath she speaks: "Awhile back there was a big fire in Sandpoint. A lot of houses were destroyed. But as I watched the ruin I noticed some of the trees near those houses smoked something fierce. Couldn't barely see through the black clouds much less breath it. " she looks around at the group. "One of the midwives told me hunters would use the same trick, green leaves and the like, to smoke gophers outta there holes."

Sparrow catches his breath from all the squat running.

He addresses Ciar.
I don't remember you saying they were connected! I thought you two were in trouble.

I like the idea of forcing them out of their little rat hole so we can fight on our terms but, I think that will be easier said than done.

"The smoke idea is a good one, Sorsha" replies Sylvan. "Provided the leaves have already fallen from the trees. These passages are also small. Maybe we can clog them up with boulders, many feet from the room they're in. Once they realize what we're doing, maybe that will lure them out."

Sylvan is proposing to close off both passage from the main room, since nothing of value was found there. If most of the kobolds are in there, the group could explore the rest of the lair relatively unfettered.

Ciar ponders the idea for a bit, then replies, "Well, there is a lot of cavern there, and not all of it explored. The kobolds have already shown they could tunnel almost a mile from the tower to the quarry. I think we have no way of knowing what kind of tunnels they have leading out of here. They could easily bug out and come at us from our flank or rear when we least expect it. I don't think we would get the results we want."

He shrugs, "I don't think it would work."
