Bog boots the prisoner in the head to shut him up, then readies one of his Karagonian spears and crouches down near the entrance, staying behind a stack of crates or the side of the cave to hide his presence, and surveys the area outside the cave opening.
Dragon foot. Bamboo pole. Little mouse. Tiny boy.
EST: The party begins to prepare for a fight...
~ The combination of minor island earthquake and subsequent 'danger-approaching' signal interrupts the party's ongoing interrogation session...
Emm breaks her death stare on the captured soldier and also loses her previous thoughts about what the mysterious egg might be to address her fellow team members. She questions their current positioning within the cave and details that she needs to meet their enemies on open ground. The druidess also proffers a suggestion about silencing their prisoner, lest he somehow find the courage to signal his mates, and requests a recap of the party's battle plan.
Bogdan engages a plan of his own and applies his armored boot to the soldier's head. The mutilated man is immediately silenced the hard way and drops in a pile by the fire most unconscious. The big fighter then grabs up his Karagonian masterwork spears and moves to the cave entrance. Acutely aware that trouble already approaches, he scans the small bluff for Sorel and Caelvanna. The Half-elf easterner leans to the side of a bush on the western side of the clearing to mark his position but a look to his left, towards the eastern side reveals Caelvanna is nowhere to be seen. She's either gone or choosing to remain hidden at the present moment.
Bog looks back over at Sorel, who waves to get his attention. The hidden archer specialist, using the hand signals they'd all been drilled on during their training, points up the hill, then holds up three fingers, then makes a signal as if they're running or moving fast. Remembering the training, his last signal should indicate the time till contact. He holds up one then two fingers and makes a wavy vertical motion...

Lauranna looks for somewhere near the entrance to hide, inside r out doesn't matter, just a spot to conceal herself. "Quickly now, hit 'em hard and fast."

~ Lauranna knows, from her and Emm's approach to the cave earlier, that there's a clump of bushes just east of the cave entrance. The magic-user/thief is confident she could get low and creep to those bushes just east without being seen from above. Or she could remain in the cave and take up a position opposite Bogdan, just within and out of sight from anyone not standing directly in front of the entrance.

OOC: For a refresher, here's the previous descriptor for the bluff outside the cave:
Description of the small bluff: shaped mostly like a half-circle with the lower cliffs on the northern edge being the straight line and the trail coming up to it on the southern side (at @ the 6 o'clock position); the bluff is @ 140-150 feet wide (east to west) and @ 60 feet long (north to south from trail-head to cave entrance). There are a plenty of small bushes and a few thickets and small trees here and there on the bluff. The trail continues up to the left side of the cave entrance and proceeds to ascend in a mostly z-shape as it did before. Another 250-300 feet up looks to be a ledge or perhaps another small bluff. About 500+ feet up (200-250' above the ledge or next small bluff), is the outer edge of the crater at the center of the island. The cliffs gets very steep there and would appear to be hard to traverse without mountaineering gear.

Emm gingerly places the mysterious egg on the cave floor and quickly moves to exit. Her goal is to get into the nearest flora, and traverse using her Druidic ability to remain unseen to an area (Hopefully on the eastern side of the cave) she can see uphill and await the oncomers, and pulls one precious sprig of mistletoe from her pouch. She is prepared to cast Entangle as soon as the quarry is within 80 ft and amongst foliage. Once in position she will try to see Caelvanna, but likely fails.

Lauranna moves up to the cave entrance and assesses the small clearing. Bogdan is already in position there on the right, his masterwork Karagonian spears to hand and ready to rush out and use them. The magic-user/thief nods to the big fighter as she pushes Wily down into the safety of his belt pouch home. She then gets nearly prone, exits and goes left (east) along the base of the cliff. Her fluidity is graceful as she easily keeps her profile low and works her way quickly towards the clump of bushes @ 10 feet east of the cave entrance. Once there she moves behind them and out of sight...
Emm carefully sets down the mysterious sparkling egg on the edge of the soldier's bedroll, out of the way by the shipping crate. Any thoughts or suppositions as to it's identity will have to wait. She then moves past their unconscious prisoner and over to the cave entrance. Peering out, she sees there are small clumps of bushes and brush, and even a few small trees here and there, but most are too out in the open to get to without the possibility of being seen from the trail above.
The druidess also decides to exit and go left, getting low like Lauranna did, and scrambling out to head towards the eastern edge of the small bluff. She passes the clump of bushes where the High-elf and her weasel familiar are hiding, and makes for the cover of the taller, thicker foliage at the outer edge of the clearing. She looks for Caelvanna as she does so but sees no sign of the Wild-elf fighter and archer specialist. Eventually she makes it into the brush and repositions herself to be able to better see the trail above up...
Inside the cave, Ulrich readies his mace and shield and moves up to the entrance next to Bog on the left. The Half-orc fighter points out Sorel's position to the dwarf cleric and the two of them stand by and wait for when they're going to emerge and join in the upcoming encounter...

The three tangos that Sorel signaled about previously continue to descend the z-shaped trail from the next ledge or small bluff above.
The first soldier, who looks to be wearing Karagonian chain armor with longsword and hand axe at his belt and carrying a heavy crossbow, just like his captured counterpart, is moving at a higher rate of speed because the two following him, although dressed and outfitted in similar fashion, are carrying a long pole with what appears to be a wooden cage suspended from it. They move with a purpose but are obviously concerned with whatever their cargo is and don't want to drop it.
By the time the first soldier reaches the lowest turnabout on the trail above, a little over 100 feet away from where it descends to the bluff just west of the cave entrance, the two carrying the cage cargo are still a good 100 feet above him at the next one up. There's still no sign of what should be the other two men.
The closest soldier drops to a knee and takes up his crossbow, although it doesn't appear he's seen anyone below. He looks back up the trail to see where his mates are before calling out towards the cave below. "Sid! Sid!! It's Dat! Hold your fire... we're coming down!"
The man waits for a handful of seconds and begins to descend the trail towards the cave and bluff. He has his crossbow up to his shoulder in the ready-fire position and begins looking around the small clearing for trouble...

OOC: okay guys, I know there were some declared actions mentioned previously, specifically Emm casting an entangle spell when the soldier came within range. Since she's at the eastern edge of the clearing, she's @ 70-75 feet away from the where the trail meets the bluff, so the soldier would be @ 5-10 feet up the trail at that point. If no one acts, it looks like the 1st soldier will reach the cave when the others are still @ 120-150 feet up and approaching that last turnabout on the trail.
Figured I'd give you guys a chance to modify your DAs or note new ones given the way the above is going down. If no change, I'll let the soldier approach the cave entrance and once within range of Emm, have her cast her spell unless someone does something first!

Bogdan tries luring the Dat closer, maybe even into the cave, by trying to mimic Sid, replying with a muffled, "In 'ere" to Dat's call.

Lauranna too recognizes the pecking order here, the soldier is not their primary target. She continues to wait.....
EST: Encounter 19: The soldier contingent ...
~ Bogdan returns the first Karagonian marine's hail, feigning to be the tortured and out cold soldier Sid. The soldier calling himself Dat hears the muffled cry and stops his descent. Again he brings his crossbow up and scans the bluff and immediate area, trying to make sure he didn't miss anything. Up above him, his two compatriots are doing a careful double-time down the path and continuing to so far safely manage their cargo.
"Sid! You okay? Sid!!" he exalts in a whispered shout. The soldier calling himself Dat looks nervous, as if he senses something's not right. Suddenly the island rumbles again, not as bad initially as the previous time until another sharp jolt occurs. This one is definitely stronger than the first and even causes some rocks and dirt to be dislodged and come rolling and sliding down the steep hillside. The descending soldiers go to their knees and hold for a few moments. The rumbling eventually stops and now steam and whitish smoke can be seen at the edge of the crater.
The one called Dat looks up nervously as do his compatriots above him with the cage. When they see the steam and smoke, they begin to move out again. Dat hustles down the remaining length of trail and reaches the bluff. He steps down and over towards the cave entrance. His crossbow looks to be held in the ready position via a leather harness & sling combo. He calls out again to his mate as he leans in, one hand on the trigger and the other cupping his eyes to see into the darker cave. "Sid! What's wrong? Get up! We gotta delta the hell outa here, man!!"

~ Bogdan continues to promote his ruse by moaning and making a muffled coughing noise whilst Ulrich resists the temptation to step away from cover and swing his mace forthwith! Outside the cave on the bluff, the other party members stay still and remain hidden, figuring that their fighter and cleric companions can handle this one on their own. Further up the hill, the two other soldiers and their carried cage cargo are approaching the last bend before they reach the bluff...
The soldier calling himself Dat seems more concerned with getting his mate to his feet and heading out than considering the possibility of a trap or any kind of subterfuge. He uncovers his eyes with his left hand and lets go of the trigger on his crossbow with his right as he steps into the cave and makes for the prone, unconscious figure lying there bleeding by the smoldering fire.

Since they were able to draw the man in so close, Bog opts to leave his spear resting on the ground, drawing his sword and attacking the soldier.

Lauranna passes the lone soldier from her thoughts as soon as he enters the cave but instead focuses it on the pair and their burden, looking for an opportunity to strike.

Her senses on edge, the first sound of quick movement prompts Emm to begin her hymn of Entangle, directed at the duo holding the crate. She knows Bogdan has the magic ring which allows him to operate freely within the effect of her GrabGrass, she hisses: Keep one alive! She will then seek appropriate cover closer to the trail, following it uphill.
