What would you like to play/run? (Interest Catch-all)

I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.

Ooh, ooh - I am desperate to play Warhammer 1e! Are you doing it online or FtF?
It's right here on US! We're just starting the campaign, come and join! I think a couple of the original players are busy and waiting a bit before they jump in, but we've got 2 players now who are onboard to start right away: viewforum.php?f=273

I just realized I should probably clarify, since there are two different games called 'Warhammer 1e'.

This isn't Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 1e (1986), but the absolute most 1e of all Warhammer 1e's, Warhammer: The Mass Combat Fantasy Role-Playing Game (1983). Eventually the battle rules would be expanded into Warhammer Fantasy Battles and the character rules would be expanded into Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, but we're sticking to the first ruleset that's both kinds of game at the same time.

No worries. I'd be interested if you ever run WFRP 1e. I have 2e and enjoyed running that occasionally way back in high school, but have never had the chance to play first edition.

You should speak to max_vale Dram, he's running DL on another forum but recruited a few of us from here. That is if you don't mind jumping in mid-campaign

After long deliberation I've decided that when I get my gonzo OD&D hexcrawl going, it would make the most sense to host it on one of the OD&D discussion boards.

I'd still like to start up a game here sometime between 2-4 months from now, and I'd like to do something I've never done before. Over the past couple of weeks I've been thinking that a BECMI game set in Mystara might be fun.

Would there be interest in that?

Really the only Mentzer I've ever played is running a couple of one shots in Red Box, and I don't think I've ever played or run anything in Mystara, but I do own some Gazetteers I've only flipped through. So, the focus here would definitely be for giving folks (me included) in-play exposure to Mystara and the Mentzer set.

I'm also pondering the idea of doubling or even tripling all experience to give us a better chance of trying out the CMI half of the rules. Or even, to get maximum Mystara exposure, allowing it to be a multi-DM game: anyone who wants to can pick a Gazetteer to run, and we'd all DM different parties for each other.

Do you think you'd go funnel?
Yes, there would be a funnel. I think I have an interesting way to do it also that would fit in with the ASE campaign setting.

Give me a bit of time to prep and I'll see about starting a ASE game using DCC RPG
Just checking in to see if there's a chance this ASE campaign is going to happen? i'm still very interested...

I'm considering re-booting one of two games I was running a few years back. Before I put too much effort into the development, let me aske who might be interested.
One of games was a wide-open anything goes game, where a group of characters from all over the multiverse were drawn to a high-magic world. The event that pulled them there was threatening to destroy this world, and the PC's had to resolve the problem. The characters were pretty much "anything goes." We had a wizard/hard-boiled private eye (a la Harry Dreseden), a super-hero speedster type, two dimension-hoppers (a la "Sliders"), a Predator, and a Warhammer Veteran.

The other is also pretty wide open, but easier to describe: The League of Extraordinary People. Basically, any character from modern pop fiction, and i have some adventures for them to deal with. The group we had included Buckaroo Banzai, Nightwing, and a teenaged Charlene McGee (Firestarter).

So- thoughts from anyone?

Wow. What system did you use?
Sounds interesting.
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.

Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

I am interested in almost anything. Willing to hear people out on different games. I am open for a lot. I guess the only qualification I have is a game where you make your own character, not a game where you have a pre-determined character you roleplay as. Other than that, not picky.

How familiar are you with 2e, FC? You might consider looking at dmw71's 2e game. It has a waiting list, but you, being new to the forum, could get bumped up to the front of the line if you asked nicely. Good game with some experienced forum players and a great GM. Something to consider, anyway.

Ha!

You still feel that way, even after I've managed to pretty much kill every character you've created in games I've run (except for Ciar)?

Rredmond- I assume you were asking me. I typically use a homebrew version of GURPS. I've kitbashed the hell out of it, but the players don't need to know too many details. I handle all the mechanics on my side of the monitor, and let the players roleplay.

Oh yes, sorry, definitely I was asking you.
Definitely sounds interesting!

Has anybody here looked into Into The Odd? It is the most old school thing I've ever seen. Here's my review: http://abominablefancy.blogspot.com/201 ... o-odd.html

Some highlights:
1. Chargen takes less than a minute, including equipment. This works well with high lethality of adventures.
2. Combat is blazing fast, and decidedly deadly. I think it would work really well for PbP, requiring fewer posts back and forth.
3. The emphasis is strongly on player skill, not dice mechanics. Pretty much, players only roll dice as Saves to avoid danger, and Damage during combat. The rest is you thinking very hard about perilous decisions. I think this would also operate very well on PbP.
4. Free player document! https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B6MR1KW ... RVblk/edit
5. The format for adventures is brilliant and extraordinarily low-prep.

Having just shuttered my campaign for lack of time, I'm not in a position to run it, right now, but, boy howdy, would I love to as soon as life permits.
