Don't worry .... Dren tends to get himself in too deep very quickly ....

My short burst of current success is just an illusion to make him do something stupid, such as getting himself locked in a room full of angry skeletons ....

Am I missing anything that Ubrecht could do about the poison—short of quickly gaining six levels so that he can cast Neutralize Poison?

Unfortunately no. Barrowmaze is a sandbox so the hard encounters are intermixed with the easy encounters. However, the poison takes 1d6 turns to take effect. There may be something the others can do.

Sorry Zhym. The poison takes effect in 1d6 turns. 1 turn is 10 minutes in LL. I rolled a 6. But even still, there is no way a person on foot could make the run from the dungeon to the village in that time. I did some research and the army allows 3 hours to go 12 miles carrying a full pack (which is 70 pounds.) There is no chance Pyrrhic (wearing armor) could have made it. You are more than welcome to create a new character and continue the adventure with the group if you want.

No worries. Poison's a harsh mistress at low levels. And mid-levels. There's really nothing you can do about it until high levels, what with Neutralize Poison being a 4th level spell. I was a little surprised Ubrecht didn't just die after a round, especially since BtB in LL, a poisoned character is instantly killed (p. 62 of LL Basic).

It's kind of interesting, really. A 1st-level cleric can bring someone from the brink of death to full health if he was injured by battle wounds, but poison—something any Boy Scout knows the fundamentals of treating—is always fatal until you have a 7th level cleric around.

Oh, well, such is the game.

I think I'll just take this opportunity to cut my game load down by one instead of rolling a new character. Thanks for the (all-too brief) game!
