Re: The Keep on the Borderlands
I am guessing the cash you are giving us is to purchase further start-up supplies. Having just played a game of Torchbearer, I have grown acutely aware of carrying capacity, food/water and lighting resources. As such, i am inclined to stock up on torches and candles. How closely will we be tracking these things?

Just roughly- not very accurately. Just use common sense- you cant carry 100 torches and a bunch of other stuff- then fight & run.Rusty Tincanne wrote:I am guessing the cash you are giving us is to purchase further start-up supplies. Gunther Biltimere, peasant-farmer
Clay Dreaver, former locksmith-journeyman (three stats rearanged with permission from Bloodaxe)
edit: Gear purchased. I tried to buy things as I figured a total novice would, so I left off iron spikes and a hammer. I might rethink that if no one else brings that sort of thing along.

Re: The Keep on the Borderlands
I requested a game slot, Caves of Chaos.
1) LtTibbles
2) ybn1197
3) Mister-Kent
4) Darkmane
5) Rusty Tincanne
6) smoke warrior
7) jdluna
0 level to start. Those with a mystical background will have small prayers or cantrips/.spells. At 500Xp you will advance to a real class. Bonus XP for good role-play, accomplishing goals, special actions, etc. Of course XP for treasure & killing stuff. But you also get XP for clever actions. Your actions & background will be considered for your class. (sneaking, stealing, - Thief, killing, fighting- Fighter, etc)
I think we have all humans.
If a character dies- you can recruit another if needed until one advances to Level 1.

Re: The Keep on the Borderlands
i'll take a spot on the waitlist, if you're still doing that, and if you're ok with a relative beginner (played 2nd ed ad&d years ago, but haven't played a tabletop rpg in many years). i should be able to track down a copy of the labyrinth lord rules or at least the red book basic d&d players' handbook which hopefully will get me pretty much up to speed on the rules you're using. if you'd rather have experienced players instead, that's ok too, let me know

thanks!Rusty Tincanne wrote:@ Idiot: rules are here - http://heroes.mystara.net/pdf/labyrinth-lord.pdf
these rules are great--there's some amazing old-school stuff in there, like elf and dwarf as classes, and alignment languages!
Re: The Keep on the Borderlands
Labyrinth lord is a great system overall, especially if you run with what it offers and the. Tack your own systems on top of it as needed.

Re: The Keep on the Borderlands
Anne Summerisle and Gustav the Grasping

The Summerisle Farm grows wheat, so come harvest time Anne is pretty handy with a scythe. The family also raises a few pigs, cows, and chickens, but Anne's five older brothers take care of the animals. Anne is on fairly good terms with her family, though she has recently expressed her desire to be schooled in the business of the farm--only her brothers are ever allowed to trade their goods at market, and Anne is always forced to stay home. Her parents don't want her to leave home, so she leaves them a note and heads out at night. From Anne's view they don't really need her for daily farm stuff anyway. With finding the missing youths, she can really do something that makes a difference.
(Anne is a pastiche of Buffy Summers elements--I even drew her with Buffy's nose! But come on--the chance to train up a Level 0 damsel into a Fighter was too tempting to resist
)
Gustav is the bastard son of the noble house of Garvasson. Kept at arm's length by his father and his father's wife, Gustav was nonetheless brought into the home as a ward. When Lady Garvasson produced no heirs, the Lord decided to legitimize young Gustav and make him his heir. Unfotunately, before this could happen Lord Garvasson died of an apparent foodborne illness. Despite all previous claims to love Gustav as her own son once he was legitimized, Lady Garvasson took the house fortune for her own and cast Gustav out into the streets. Gustav was just barely a man then, and he fell in with bad crowds--gamblers, thieves, and highwaymen. He's older and more bitter now. He carries himself with the posture of a nobleman, but hides a treacherous greed beneath it all.

cool, darkmane's characters look pretty good to me, so i'll take themBloodaxe wrote:Dark mane can't make it, Idiot you are up if you like. You can take Dark manes characters , make your own, or change his characters to fit. Lmk.
looks to me like the most that's been written about these characters is this post: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=4562&start=20#p196351
what comes next? i think you roll the HP for each character, and let me know about starting inventory (you decide this, not the players, right?), and then i make a post in the "Characters -- Work in Progress" thread, right?

HP & equipment, coin, have been given out already in the thread. I'll relish it later for you when I can, if you can't find it.
Read through the thread and get caught up.
