"My understanding is that the doors are quite distinctive. And there is only one lock on each of the doors, but they must all be opened before accessing the chamber beyond is safe."
Re: Expedition - Lug/A Rescue Mission - 28 April, 1 VC
"Three keys for three locks in three places," says Lug. "Uh-huh. Sounds like dwarves to me—uh, no offense, Dorvar."

Valorei listens to the Centaurs words with a frown, offering Xavro a nod the usually boisterous elf sits still. His face host to a frown as he remains quiet, contemplating his actions.

Varas listens more intently to the conversation once the prospect of treasure come up.

Baxtaw- I would love to stay and talk longer, but we cannot forget our real reason for being out here. We have found out many things during our stay here. But we must rescue our friends before they become a meal.

"Right," says Lug. "Do you agree that we should wait until Gruuk-Darak takes his search party out? If so, what do you think is the best way to find out when he does that? Should Ruwyn scout alone, counting on her ability to hide in the woods, should we send a larger scouting party, or should we all go camp at the edge of the orc hole?"

Ruwyn beams widely.
"Direct me to where our enemy last stood, I'll gladly go alone~
When it comes to hiding in the wood, I'm the best the world has known!"

Valorei speaks up, his voice quieter and more subdued than when the trip began, "I can go with Ruwyn, Should something happen I can guarantee at least one of us will make it back to report the findings."

Niles considers thoughtfully, rubbing his soft fingers ruefully over his spindly arms in the clearing's chill air. "While I am of little help in an infiltration or battle, I can bring an enchanted slumber to facilitate entrance, and then perhaps also to escape on the morrow if we arrange a time or signal. I have oil and flame to lay a trap or diversion as well, if that will aid your escape."

Varas puffs out his chest. "I will be happy to lead scouting efforts. Dorvar, wold you mind looking after Mustard?"
Re: Expedition - Lug/A Rescue Mission - 28 April, 1 VC
With Ruwyn and Varas volunteering, it appears that there is no need for Valorei to join them unless he decides he just has to tag along.
Hopefully having that settled will allow the group to determine its next step in planning, whether just to put things in motion or to hash the later stages out a bit more as you deem necessary.

Baxtaw- How many hours travel is the Orc stronghold from here? And what the terrain like out there? He looks to Dorvar the information.

Why would Dorvar know how far it is to the orc stronghold?
"It's about six hours through the forest if you don't get lost," answers Lug.

Not to mention that Dorvar is not currently with any of you. He's outside the grove and can't hear any of this conversation, remember?
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. I also like "Dorvar" as a verb. I wonder what kind of action it would be to Dorvar information?
So, I guess one question is whether 6 hours is too far away to have scouts. When the orcs leave, it would be 6 hours back to the grove and 6 hours to the orc hold. The orcs might make it back in that time, depending on what "1-2 days" means.

I'm pretty sure if we were to Dorvar info out of someone, they would be in pretty rough shape.

Well Dorvar should know this info
. No I meant to say that to the centaur.
Baxtaw- We can all leave here and find a secure place closer to the scouting party.

Is there any opposition to this plan? moving the entire group most of the way and setting up a temporary camp, then moving forward scouts to within spotting distance of the orc outpost?
Re: Expedition - Lug/A Rescue Mission - 28 April, 1 VC
No opposition.
