Part 6: Revenge is Best Served Cold ... As the Grave

Peaches picks up the bag, opens it, and looks inside.

Ubrecht keeps a suspicious eye open for anything that might jump out of the shadows.

Petra scopes the small pouch up and undoes the knot tying the bag closed. Inside she finds...PM sent

"Woo hoo! We're gettin' drunk tonight, boys!" says Peaches with a big grin. She holds up some of the gold coins from inside the bag for all to see. "Still, you never know when a random bag of gold might be cursed or whatever, and we don't want that s**t spreading around. I'll hang on to the bag, just in case."

She counts the coins quietly to herself, puts the coins away in the bag, and puts the bag in her pack. She also puts her rope away.

OOC: how many total coins?

Shaking his head and cocking an eyebrow, Dren slips his dagger back into his belt and whispers quietly ....

"Miss Peaches, the bag is yours if you wish to hang onto it ... but the gold we will split .... Dren has already lost one good friend and his share of 123 silver moons when Gawain left our group. I would rather carry my share now if you would be so kind as to pour it out carefully and quietly for us"

Crouching and clearing a space on the floor, Dren motions for her to join him and pour out the contents of the pouch.

"Sure thing, short stuff," says Peaches. "But if these coins end up being cursed and we all get Feebleminded, just remember who offered to take one for the team." After a pause, she says, "Yes, getting Feebleminded from cursed coins is a thing. Wizards know this stuff." Peaches will divide up the gold in the bag for anyone who wants a share now.

OOC: Sorry if this wasn't clear in the previous post, but Peaches has no intention of stealing from the party. She talks a good game, but is Good-aligned after all.

Peaches carefully dumps the contents of the purse on to the floor where a pile of 20 gold coins collects. From his vantage point, Dren is able to see that the coins appear to have been minted in the Duchy as they are similar to coins of the realm which he has seen in Larm but they look older.

Ubrecht tries to do math.

Number of coins on the ground: lots.
Number of party members: uhhh...several?

So. Lots divided by several, carry the few...um. a couple of coins each? Sure, a couple sounds right. He takes two gold coins.

"Where we to now?"

"Dren already has a feeble mind and such a curse may improve things for him" says Dren as he takes a couple of coins , turning one through his fingers in the faint light.

OOC I didn't think you would steal from the party, although I doubt you would put it in your post if you planned to , but Dren doesn't know Peaches yet, and is wary of losing treasure to another party member wandering off, as happened when Gawain stopped playing.

I think there are 7 PC's? ... So I have taken 2, which I reckon leave a 6 gold kitty for Peaches to carry

"That's a good point, short stuff, being Feebleminded is actually kind of awesome. Makes for an interesting weekend. Happened to me once after a duel with an arch-wizard," says Peaches. After a pause, she looks around at her companions. "I got better."

Peaches distributes coins to the rest of the party.

"Anyways, let's get a move on. Claude, you're with me." Peaches and Claude move back to their place in the middle of the marching order.

Bronn also takes two coins.

He looks at Dren. "So, where to next?"

Dren eyes the walls in the alcove suspiciously ... Taking a little chalk powder from his pocket to dry his fingers, he begins searching the walls ..... "First Dren will check for hidden doors, then we will venture back the way we came and take another route".

Tapping gently on each wall, Dren tries to find anything out of the ordinary ....

Searching for secret doors ... You roll boss! 1 in 6 chance .... Same as the others

Pyrrhic picks up his coins, flips them and puts them in his pack, muttering to himself.
"Two coins closer to the forge. Two steps closer to vindication."

Nightsong graciously accepts his share. He sees it more as a formality, the grist by which the mill of adventure is fed. Money for food and equipment is necessary to keep one strong and prepared. He looks to the others and scans the corridor as he quietly slides the coins in his beltpouch.

Dren moves about the small room/alcove/closet yet finds no secret doors or panels. It appears that this path comes to an end here.

Shaking the cobwebs and dust from his curly hair, Dren motions the others to follow and heads back to the intersection.

Pausing to scan down the corridor, he leads them to the closed door opposite the giant rats room. Pausing to check it for traps and listen for noise, if it appears clear he opens it and peers inside.

Bronn stacks up behind Dren at the door. He grips his sword tightly, and widens his stance a little for extra stability. He looks back at the others and grins widely, his tusks protruding over his upper lip a little. He waggles his eyebrows comically, and then returns to paying attention to Dren and the doorway.

Finding no traps and hearing no noise, Dren opens the door slightly and peers inside. Like many of the previous chambers, this room is 20' x 20'. In the middle of the room is a dusty table. Sitting on top of the table are three skulls arranged in a triangular pattern. The base of the triangle faces the door while the top of the triangle points to the opposite wall.

Bronn peeks around the corner at the room.

"Yeah, that's not ominous at all. Not in the least."

Ubrecht screws his face into a scowl, not knowing what to do. "Guessin' I should 'na just bash 'em?"
