Craw will toss one of his axes at the nearest standing goblin and then immediately re-take cover against the tunnel wall.

Leaf takes a deep breath, lines up a shot against one of the further away Goblins and lets fly.

Heading over the Atlantic to holiday in Florida tomorrow so might be out of touch for a few days hence getting in my action now. Have wifi access once we're there so should still be able to check in most days.

19. Erevan
Erevan prepares to cast his Ray of Frost spell but holds till he spots a better target. Vincentio does the same thing but does not hold the casting instead taking advantage of moment and fires it at the nearest goblin which ducks down a the right moment to avoid the blast of cold directed at it. Craw throws a hand axe at another goblin but as he ducks back to the side of the tunnel he is able to see the axe fly past the goblin. Urdua dives to the tunnel wall to defend himself. Leaf lets an arrow fly after taking a deep breath and is able to connect with her target who ducks back too late to avoid the projectile. He drops to the ground cursing and screaming.

Erevan, who had 8 hit points and just took 8 hp damage from an arrow, appears to be dead. Is this correct?

Not quite, you start making death saving throws. an even 50/50 1-10 fail 11-20 pass. critical passes and fails count as double. if you make it to three passes you stabilie at 1 HP but are unconscious for a few hours. 3 fails you are perma dead. getting attacked is very bad, ranged attacks are ok, just an auto fail. melee attacks are auto hit auto critical hit. can be devastating if you're not protected.

Whenever you start your tum with 0 hit points, you must make a special saving throw, called a death saving throw, to determine whether you creep closer to death or hang onto life. Unlike other saving throws, this one isn't tied to any ability score. You are in the hands of fate now, aided only by spells and features that improve your chances of succeeding on a saving throw.
Roll a d20. If the roll is 10 or higher, you succeed. Otherwise, you fail. A success or failure has no effect by itself. On your third success. you become stable. On your third failure, you die. The successes and failures don't need to be consecutive; keep track of both until you collect three of a kind. The number of both is reset to zero when you regain any hit points or become stable.
Rolling 1 or 20. When you make a death saving throw and roll a 1 on the d20, it counts as two failures. If you roll a 20 on the d20, you regain 1 hit point.
Damage at 0 Hit Points. If you take any damage while you have 0 hit points, you suffer a death saving throw failure. If the damage is from a critical hit, you suffer two failures instead. If the damage equals or exceeds your hit point maximum, you suffer instant death. (PHB 197)
Boiled down, on your next round roll a d20. 1 is 2 failures, 2-9 is 1 failure, 11-19 is 1 success, 20 is automatic stabilization and no more rolls. If you take more damage before you stabilize, you incur an automatic failure. If the damage is from a critical hit, then it counts as 2 failures. If you take enough damage to equal your full hit points then it is automatic death. (i.e. You have 8 hit points. You take 8 points of damage. You are unconscious and on death's door, start rolling your Death Saving Throw. 3 successes, 1 critical success or someone healing you will stabilize you. Vincentio utters a few magical words and a bolt of fire lances from his fingertips and impacts with one of the goblins, emulating it in a spectacular amount of flame. With a mutter of blood and luck on his lips, Craw throws his last hand axe at a nearby goblin. it appears that the axe will miss it so the goblin does not try to duck but its estimation is off and the axe catches the goblin in the shoulder causing it to drop its bow. Urdua dugs down, making himself as small a target as possible and utters magic words to strengthen his clothing into a more formidable defense. Leaf targets a goblin in the rear of the chamber before letting an arrow fly but the goblin easily ducks away from it.

Craw trembles in pain the instant he is struck by the goblin crude arrow. He stares at the shaft protruding from his flank. Then he takes a deep breath and clenches his teeth, trying to ignore the pain. He then draws his sword and charges at the nearest archer trying to cause as much havoc as possible among the goblin ranks.
