seeing the ugly beast appear in front of the group, then bite down on the professors arm,
"i knew this planit SUCKED!"

knowing his blaster is all but useless, Jackson digs into his tool kit, searching for a plasma cutter to use as a weapon.
"shoot straight, conserve ammo, watch your buddy's back, and NEVER, cut a deal, with a Dragon." Shadowrunner's words of wisdom.

Zinn curses under his breath; had they not been being pursued so closely by those bounty hunter poodoo, he'd have opted not to wear his armor for this foray. Clearly, the environment is not conducive to being able to move well while wearing it.

As his comrade is attacked by one of the local denizens, Zinn flips his vibroblade into a reverse carry, then heads over to try and help pry the beast off.

((Figuring Zinn won't have an opportunity to actually attack the beast here...))

The Rebel band dealt with their latest enemy; a large sail-back lizard-fish-eel creature currently attempting to eat Professor Clark. The good Professor, howling in pain and anger, did his best pummel/yank the creature off of his arm without much success and his closest companions seemed to be unsure of how best to help….

Jackson thought about attempting to slam his jammed Blaster pistol into the creature's head but then decided that perhaps using one of his tools from his vehicle repair kit would work better; even though they would be more awkward to wield and were no more suited for melee combat than the butt of his blaster…

Gavin finds himself remembering almost purchasing a Vibroaxe on an Outer Rim planet whose name he couldn't quite remember, and he seems to forget the current situation while lost in memories….

Zinn comes over and actually manages with the help of some strong blows/pulls to get the creature to stop biting Clark, but it then seems to thrash around and then looking at the pilot, it starts to lunge towards him; when a flashing, humming streak of Blue Light changes everything…

Borsk La'Reth ignites his Lightsaber and moves towards his bleeding companion and with a strike to the beast's 'middle section'; he removes a serious hunk of its flesh, causing it to let out a bubbly roar and with a thrash it yanks itself away from Zinn and Clark and moves away through the water and quickly out of sight.

Everyone kind of stares at each other for an awkward moment and the Borsk nods towards the island and says; "Shall we continue?"; and everyone continues to wade over to the sizable island and climbs out of the murky swamp water with grateful sighs of appreciation for solid ground. It's shortly after that when everyone notices the leeches on exposed arms, legs, necks, etc.

Meanwhile; in another part of the swamp, a stand-off quickly escalates to a shoot-out. Jane Corb's hand flashes down to yank out his Heavy Blaster Pistol, but while he easily beats his fellow human Stitch to the draw; Zharrin the Quarren is faster than him and a Blaster Bolt zips into his side. Luckily for the Bounty Hunter; it does little more than leave a grazing burn and a hole in armored-clothing and Jane's return shots drop both Bounty Hunters with solid hits to both of his foes' chests.

Knowing that the sounds of Blaster fire would probably be heard by another of Crutag's Bounty Hunter
groups; Jane quickly decided to get a move on. He soon found himself wading through thick, murky swamp water; rising up in clutching, ankle-thick mudbanks; and finally solid-ground on a heavily-wooded island. Some leathery-winged creatures that looked to be about a meter in size with a wingspan twice that buzzed by him a couple of times and he could have SWORN he saw what looked to be some kind of six-legged, furry creature dart off into the woods as he climbed up onto the island. At the moment though, his attention was mostly focused on his muddy, west and almost certainly jammed Blaster and the half-dozen or so leeches he found clinging to his arms and neck….

Zinn looks incredulously at Borsk. "You and I need to have a talk. Soon," he says, his tone clearly indicating an impending friendly, if somewhat serious, discussion. "Thanks for keeping that thing from making a meal of me." Looking over at Clark, he says, "Clark! Let's get a look at that arm; there's no telling what kind of toxins might be in that thing's bite..."

Gavin's not doing anything really does not want to use his blaster as a club.

Clark takes a moment to clean and inspect his arm wound, before beginning to remove the leeches (if he's got something in his toolkit which can create flame/heat, he'll use that).

((OOC: Can he use a medpack to remove his "wounded" status?))

Gavin looks at his wet blaster slings it around his shoulder so that it is on his back and the sling it's self is across his chest and he tackles the thing punching it and slamming his elbow into the creature even going so far as to headbutt the thing.

Zinn will help Clark clean his arm up, and at least get some antibacterial ointment and a bandage on it.

The wet and miserable party of Rebel agents take a few moments on the marshy island they have waded too to catch their breath and utilize the pair of Vibroblades the party is carrying to carefully get rid of the leeches that cling to their various limbs. Gavin realizes after a few moments of thrashing around that his situation is not improving, so he grudgingly decides to emulate the others as well....( :) )

Borsk La'Reth takes one of the Professor's two Medpacs out and with Zinn's assistance, he carefully treats Clark's arm wound; and the Bothan Jedi-in-training manages to do a very good job at patching the wound up and the Professor soon feels ALMOST as good as new.

The rain stops abruptly and the party is subjected to the misty, humid post-storm air and the darkening sky showing that nightfall is rapidly approaching. The rumbles in everyone's stomachs reminds them of their hunger and looking around; they notice a large amount of plant life and in addition to the buzzing of insects; several creatures fly in the sky nearby; looking like a cross between a bat and a winged lizard that measure about a meter wide and half that in height....

Meanwhile, in another part of the swamp; Jane Corb decides to set out and find a ship to steal and get off this wretched planet; ignoring the leeches on his arms for now. He manages to clean his Blasters while trudging through the thick foliage of the swampy island he's on; but notices that as the rain stops his vision is getting a bit blurry and he's feeling a little faint...

Gavin "F@#k it!" he gives in and takes out his small hand blaster and shoots at the damned leeches.

Zinn says, "We're going to have to find someplace to hunker down for the night. I hate to stop, but we need rest, and we'd be fools to try and negotiate this terrain, either in the dark, or with lights, which would surely advertise our position." He looks around at the island on which they find themselves. "We might be able to rig together at least some lean-tos, and we need to get our blasters cleaned and dry so they'll fire. We've been lucky so far that those bounty hunters haven't caught us; we're going to need more than vibroblades when they finally catch up to us. And they WILL catch up to us."

"I don't like sitting here so close to the ship either," Clark replies, "but I like trudging around in this swamp in the dark even less, so I have to agree with you. Let's hunker down and camouflage our position as best we can."

What is of utmost importance in a place such as this is to ensure that we are off of the ground. The safest shelter we can build in this swamp is what is called a swamp bed. This is a tree-based platform that should allow us to stay out of the water to avoid this planet's natural predators and insects. We'll need four vertical trees that we can place in the ground to form a rectangle and to place us high enough above the water. Next we get two horizontal poles to secure to the vertical poles and secure them with vines. Finally, we'll lash together enough branches using vines to span the width of the side poles. For padding, we'll need to find something akin to cabbage palm leaves for comfort. Do I have any volunteers to help me find what we need? We have a lot of work to get done before nightfall, my friends.

The band of Rebel Agents work together, following Borsk's instructions and soon a serviceable camp site; complete with an off-the-ground swamp-bed has been built. Nightfall is fast approaching and everyone is starting to feel very weak and are starting to stumble around as the hunger and thirst that have been ignored begin to take their toll*. Everyone's vision is a little blurry and everyone is a bit slow to react to the unexpected presence of a newcomer to their island. A strapping human male with a Heavy Blaster pistol holstered at his side looks around at the five Rebels and their newly-built shelter....

Jane successfully pried the leeches off and used up the last of his rations and fresh water and after resting for a few moments; he began to feel much better. Moving off again through the heavy vegetation of the island, he suddenly came to a slightly less thick patch of island and to his surprise he found an obviously newly constructed shelter with four human males and a Bothan male resting in/on the shelter. Obviously, these were the quarry of his former Bounty Hunter partners....

*Everyone (except Corb) is at -1D to all stats until some food and water are consumed due to weariness, slow-thinking, dulled reactions, etc.

Jane Corb

Jane looks down at the rebels keeping a hand close to his blaster pistol."Hey there friends let's keep all hands where I can see them. From the looks of it you guys won't last very long without help and it's your lucky day that I'm for hire." says Jane with a smirk.

La'Reth's fur ripples with a slight agitation as he was amazed that although he had made great progress in the knowledge of the Force, he was made humble once again by his continued need to master it even more. How was it that I did not sense this presence? Sitting with legs crossed the Bothan slowly opens his eyes as he comes out of his meditative state to address the newcomer.

Greetings. I am Borsk. His eyes shift to the blaster. Your weapon. You do not need it here. We mean you no harm. As to how long my companions and I would have lasted without assistance I leave up to the will of the Force. That being stated, it seems you have been brought here for a purpose. Perhaps, it is as you say, for our very survival.
