V. Town of Belhaim
Re: V. Town of Belhaim
"Didn't mention no slime." Ciar replies. "Like I said... What would we do with the thing once we get it in the pit? We could always douse it in that Greek fire you seem to favour so much, but that stuff costs money.

"Blunt objects against the metal man should also be effective. But we don't know if it's friend or foe - perhaps we'll learn something in the secret area that will help us deal with it. I've prepared a spell to help us defeat a strong enemy, as well as healing spells" says Sylvan.
"Sparrow, how badly are you hurt? If you plan to be leading any fight we encounter, I could heal you before we enter the tower, but I do want to use my limited powers sparingly."

Re: V. Town of Belhaim
"As it happens Mr Smug pants, I took a sample of the slime to study, so in fact we DO still have some. I can indeed enchant the pit covering to make it seem solid and one surface. Of course the statue might just be a statue, or benevolent as you suggest. Still it's best to have plans no?" says the gnome with a shrug.
We have been here abouts for a few days now have we not. Didn't you use your healing magic on those injured before we slept last night? It would be highly foolish to go back into potential danger whilst still injured.

Sparrow stands and beats his chest lightly before answering Sylvan.
I'd say I'm about two thirds healthy. Not at deaths door but not full strength. I suppose I could wait on the healing, but if we were to run into trouble I would be of better use fully healed.
I will leave it up to you, friend.

"Well, whatever you're going to do, go ahead and get it done. Let's be on our way."
Ciar is obviously impatient to get back to the room with the ghost. Once he has his gear packed, he starts for the door.

"I prefer to leave spells for emergencies, Sparrow. I will stay close by and will not hesitate to perform a curative act if you are in dire need" replies Sylvan.OGRE MAGE wrote:Sparrow stands and beats his chest lightly before answering Sylvan.

He turns to the rest of the party. "Back to the tower, yes?" He adjusts the weight of his pack and heads off towards the tower, this becoming a familiar stroll...

Re: V. Town of Belhaim
The group returns after a largely successful venture into the tower and, after a full night of sleep, are seated in the inn's common room enjoying a breakfast.
Their meal is interrupted by the familiar sound of clinking chains approaching. Is Festus returning? Anyone that turns to look at the figure entering the inn does spy a male dwarven warrior clad in chain armor enter, and while similar in appearance to their former companion, it turns out that it is not Festus after all.
The dwarf surveys the room, nods at group when he notices he's caught their attention, and takes a seat a nearby table while waiting to order.

Kassal will bids to their new dwarven neighbour and hail him good day.
"Is anyone else good at gem appraising, a second opinion would be wise," he says looking at the halfling in particular.
"These stones could form the base of our wand fund, perhaps leaving us a little coin each after we purchase it. Only Sylvan will be able to utilise it's magical healing I believe. I think the stones should net us about 225 golds, so we need only stump up another 475 golds between us for the wand. The silver from each of us might be enough.".

"Unfortunately much of my money is in a vault out of town" says Sylvan between mouthfuls of breakfast. "If we can use the gems for the cause, perhaps we can just use our silver for the wand and that'll cover it. Otherwise, I may need to make a trip to recover the copper today."
He sees the dwarf eying the party. "Think that's one of Festus's pals?"

Re: V. Town of Belhaim
Ciar, unable to carry all the coins meant to be used towards the purchase of the wand, recruits his companions to accompany him and leads them to the 'Shrine of the Seven Roses' (#32; the inn is #4).
After entering, Ciar spots Nilos Genser and makes introductions.
The priest welcomes the group and, after explaining their intentions, leads them back to his chambers."This was crafted by one of my prized acolytes," he says as he fishes out a narrow, ornately decorated wooden box about a foot long from the top drawer in his desk. He opens it up and, inside rests a thin baton, no more than a quarter-inch thick, measuring just under a foot in length. "It hasn't been used," he starts, "so it should be fully charged." Nilos initially presents the box to Ciar, but the halfling motions for Sylvan to accept it. The druid examines the wand carefully, and nods of his approval. "It will be useful to help with minor injuries or other wounds," he assures the group.
"Now," Nilos says. "I believe I told you that particular wand carries a price of 750 gold, did I not?"
"Shall we discuss payment?" he asks.
Nilos chuckles when presented with the gems and silver. "This will be fine," he says. "Perhaps the coins could be melted down, and the metal used to craft weapons useful against certain unholy creatures."
"Please, you're welcome here any time." he adds.
---
Sylvan can add the wand to his inventory.
To activate the wand, he must hold it in hand and point it in the general direction of the target or area. Each charge will heal 1d8 points of damage; the equivalent of a 'cure light wounds' spell.
I will resolve the actions back at the inn, with the dwarf, tomorrow.

I lied. Note: The wand transaction took place the previous day. After waking the next (current) morning, the group encounters the dwarf over breakfast.dmw71 wrote:I will resolve the actions back at the inn, with the dwarf, tomorrow.
Kassal acknowledges the dwarf, while Sylvan wonders if the dwarven stranger might a friend of Festus. "Only one way to find out," Fulp says as he walks over and hails the new stranger.
As the conversation will take place out of earshot, I will move it to Fulp's private forum.

Re: V. Town of Belhaim
"I am wondering if that thing will hurt undead from afar, instead of healing them!" says Kassal eying up the wand with a beedy eye. "That could come in useful too eh," he says giving Sylvan a shrug and a wink. The gnome then tries to earwig the Warriors conversation.

Fulp walks back to the table where the others have been finishing breakfast and introduces the stranger.
Folks, this here is Grim, uh...Graybeard? He heard about a witch tower falling, and came to investigate. Looking for information about it.

"Grim Greybeard, eh? Sounds dour..." Ciar mumbles quietly after shoving a bite of eggs in his mouth. After he finishes chewing, he says, more clearly, "Excellent news! We were just discussing yesterday how helpful it would be to have someone with some knowledge of underground structures. If you can help us out there, we'd appreciate the knowledge!"
