Ciar stares at the stranger with an eyebrow raised in surprise.

He tilts his head in Kassal's direction, without taking his eyes off of Ingroc and whispers, 'Wassat he jus said? Never mind, the tall folks can sort him out. Let's get to the old woman's house."

Ciar walks with Kassal and Fulp to Bassy's cottage.

Back at the inn, prior to Ingroc's arrival, the Baroness urges caution at Sylvan's mention of visiting Hunclay's manor. "Yes, aside from learning what you can about the kobolds, I do want to learn of Hunclay's whereabouts. That said, I did send men there to seek out Hunclay yesterday, after the initial collapse, and there was no sign, but it is commonly understood that his abode is not to disrupted. The mage, undoubtedly, has his manor well-protected by various magics, and the body of an eviscerated kobold at his front door suggests that this is true."

"Please, heed my warning."
she says. "If you do insist on visiting, I suggest limiting your visit to simply exploring the grounds, but not actually touching anything." Unless there are further questions for Ms. Devy, she departs, and shortly after that, Ingroc arrives.

Before any introductions are made, Ciar, Kassal, and Fulp exit to head to Bassy's cottage. Afterwards, Ingroc introduces himself to Sylan and Sparrow, offering his services if they'll allow him to accompany them.

---

Okay, Sylan and Sparrow can respond to Ingroc here in this thread. Later today I will create a new thread for the trio heading to visit Bassy (or handle it privately).

Sylvan raises an eyebrow, but extends his hand. "Hello, Ingroc the Vapid. I am Sylvan. I do not seek riches, but if you consider slaying devils, getting your ass poked by spikes and exploring collapsed towers an adventure, you'll find one with us. This is my friend Sparrow.

I was hoping to talk him into exploring the ground around the crazy wizard's manor today. We're not to visit the place itself, though, lest we be ripped asunder."

If Sparrow agrees, Sylvan will go and invite Ingroc to accompany.

Ingroc the Impavid

Ingroc coughs into his hand. "That's 'Impavid', my new friend, 'Impavid'. 'Tis an archaic word meaning 'fearless', for I am undaunted by danger, I laugh at disaster and I spit in the face of death! You will find no dearth of doughtiness here!" He looks askance at the notion that one might call oneself an adventurer without the desire for riches, much as one might view a slightly addled aunt. "But I would be glad to accompany you and your bosom companion, for truthfully I grow bored sitting by myself."
One hopes Ingoc gets invited to do *something*, else he'll be sitting by himself. Not an auspicious start, I don't thnk.

Sparrow looks to Sylvan with a smirk.

You getting all these big words? I think my common is coming along well enough but I'm not sure what he just said. Dearth? Isn't that part of a fireplace? I know what a bosom is but I don't remember ever being called that before. Never heard a burly fighter type talk so.......good before.

At any rate, well met Ingoc! I am called Sparrow or Bird by most folks. I think you will fit into our band quite well. If you'd like to join us, I'm all for it!

Ingroc the Impavid

Assuming this proposed job will take less than a day, Ingroc is ready to go. If it will take longer, he purchases three day's worth of dried rations before leaving.

"This'll be a day trip. You can leave your ass where it is" replies Sylvan. "We better get moving."

He leaves for the manor.

Fulp and Kassal arrive back at the inn first, and don't have to wait long before Sparrow and Sylvan arrive with their new traveling companion, Ingroc.

Ciar arrives about a half hour later.

The group is now fully back together at the inn as lunchtime approaches. Ms Orem continues her extended hospitality and provides lunch free of charge.

"Well, the gnome lady was not too forth coming. The mines are likely flooded and infested with the ghosts of miners that died in the earthquake that caused the flooding. There could possibly be an entrance but no one knows for sure and apparently it seems unlikely. We have a records woman looking into it but it will take many days to sift through all the information. As for Hunclay, again rumours of him worshipping Devils and being a thoroughly unlikeable chap surface. His staff all curiously vanished during the witch towers collapse. Apparently the tower is more of a tomb for the founding family.says Kassel succinctly whilst enjoying his dinner.

"How did you guys fair?"

Sparrow rejoins his friends.

Ingroc speaks the truth. All we found was a crispy kobold and a creepy undertaker.

"Ghosts of miners" doesn't sound too good to me either. What's our next move?

Fulp replies,
Ingroc. Well met. I apologize for not staying around long enough to properly introduce myself. Name's Fulp. Oh, and as to what to do now? I dunno. The records lady said it would take 4 days if there was anything at all for her to find. We could rest a bit I suppose, or maybe organize a party from the town to help secure the entrance to the basement.

"We could carefully explore the rest of the basement, leaving the secret passage for later," Ciar adds. "Festus and I just did a quick sweep of the area, so we easily could have missed something."

As an afterthought, Ciar adds, "Oh, I had a chat with Nilos at the Shrine of the Seven Roses a bit ago. He said he might could dig up a wand that can be used for healing people of minor injuries, but you'd have to be adept at using wands to make it work. So if we do happen upon a sum of coin, that might be a good item for us to purchase, as a group, and have handy. Never did find out what he wanted for it, come to think of it..."

"Sounds like a good idea" agrees Sylvan. "As I appear to be the only one that can heal others in this group, a wand such as this would allow me to concentrate my powers on other matters. And, of course, an ill fate could always befall me."

"Alas, I left most of my coin in Sandpoint, so I have little to contribute to such a fund."

Ingroc the Impavid

"I have devised a cunning plan utilizing the third most valuable gift the gods ever gave man: fire! I propose we purchase a goodly amount of Greek fire and dump it upon the slime currently blocking the hallway; a judicious administration of three or four flasks should be enough! Then, we shall light it ablaze and rid the earth of its noxious presence! Observe! I am not a rich man, but I shall contribute fifteen gold coins towards the purchase of six flasks of Greek fire! Who will lend their fiduciary support to this fine endevour?"

Sparrow

Ive already got the six flasks from the extra gear the Lady gave us. I'm not sure what type of oil it is though.

I don't think we should burn all the slime. Do we even know if fire would destroy it? Perhaps an experiment would be wise before we go and torch the whole place?
