Oidlo "Don't let Urdak's drooling stop you from that trap check." the wizard jokes. "Not that I blame him it surely is a magnificent sight."

Odilo hesitantly will attempt to open the door.

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Putting his body into it, Odilo pulls hard on the ring. The door swings open with a smoothness that belies a heavy but well-balanced mass.
The crypt of Acererak stands before you.
Mystic symbols are inscribed in the opposite wall of the crypt. At the far end of the room, a stone slab is carved with images of snakes. Pale gray dust lies on the slab, suggesting bones that have disintegrated with the passage of centuries. Only the skull remains intact. The eye sockets of the skull are set with rubies, and mounted in the jaw of the skull are six incredibly large marquis-cut diamonds. Surely that must be the skull needed to remove the royal family's curse!
On the floor in front of you rests a tremendous treasure hoard. On top of uncounted gold and platinum pieces lie nearly a hundred small gems. Three more huge gems nearly make Urdak's eyes pop from their sockets: a periodot the size of a green quail egg, an emerald as big as his fist, and a stunning black opal as big as an emu's egg. There are also a dozen potions of various colors, half a dozen scroll cases, a platinum ring with four pearls, a jewel-encrusted rod, a staff bearing mystical symbols, a small onyx die or cube, a crystal and silver amulet, a bone case of the size that typically holds playing cards, three swords, and a spear.

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Odilo takes out his wand and detects magic on the treasure pile before he moves out of the way for others to enter. After he would also detect evil inside the tomb. Permitting that the area of both spells would be capable of such a feat. Seeing as all I read the AOE is small 1" path for one and a 1" x 3" path for the other in the direction I am facing.

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Everything described in the treasure pile, except the gems and the gold, registers as magical.
As soon as Odio finishes incanting the spell to detect evil, he's hit with a searing pain in his head and a dark bright flaring in front of him, like a migraine from hell. The aura of evil in this place is powerful and pervasive.

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Odilo bends down in pain clutching his head and warning the others "There ... is great.... evil in there. Magic as well, upon most... of ... ... the treasure." he is agonized with the pain of this powerful evil "Be .... careful." he warns as he doubles over from the agony. "Evil..... over......powering...... my...... brain." he cries out.

The debilitating effects pass when the spell expires, leaving just a dull ache when it's over.
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Ahhhhh! Urdak cries out in a high-pitch that sounds like a child. Them GEMS! This MITHRAL! Uh... Ya okay, Iloilo?

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Odilo eases back up after the spell wears off still with a dull headache "Yes Urdak better now but there is a very powerful evil in that room, though I cannot say if it is from any of the magic items, the corps or the tomb it's self."

Urdak displays a painful expression as he tries to think. Oh, yeh, stinky little Gnomen! Waitn, he wasn' stinky, he was on our siden. He gotn dead... From d'gem! Yeh! Oooo, so we can't touch d'gems, huh? Dat's too bad, zem gems is purdy. Dat suren is alotn a coins, tho. We can take zem, rightn? And zis mithral! He looks to the clearly more intelligent members before taking any more action. He has learned to be careful in this tomb!

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Odilo "While I may not always do sane looking things. I saw err on the side of caution my beard brother. I can examine the items if I were able to cast my unseen servant and have it handle the items I can also summon a floating disk to carry the items on. Later to examine each item to ensure it is not evil, the coins were not radiating the magic so i think you are safe to take them as well as the mithril. I suspect the evil lies within the magic items or the tomb and it's current inhabitant." he pauses realizing the level of being he is speaking to "I'm sorry to drone on the simple answer is yes my friend you may have at the coins and mithril." he smiles.

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Ah! The Dwarf grins impishly. Dat's all I needn t'knoz! He unties his pack and shuffles things around, making room for as many platinum coins as possible.
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Urdak shifts things around in his pack to make room for treasure. He steps forward to scoop up some platinum pieces. The moment he touches the treasure, you hear a low moan from the other end of the crypt. The dust on the burial slab swirls into the air and coalesces into a pale white man-like form! It regards you with a hateful visage.
A voice sounds within the chamber. "IT TOOK YOU LONG ENOUGH," booms the voice. "BUT NOW YOU WILL DIE!"

Skarlos, who was staring at the loot with a look of astonishment, regards the new development with interest.

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
We killn d'Lich, the Dwarf protests. I 'membern dat too. Whoevern zis be, he won' be makin' an Ironbeard die! He hefts his pick and shield in the same hand and prepares his hammer for a mighty throw if this dust-man tries anything less than polite.
