Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
McCloud holds on to the rope, not sure what we can tie it around,"perhaps a few others could belay themselves on, Urdak could be quite a weight when he drops".
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Urdak turns the bronze key to the left again...nothing.
Another turn...nothing.
Yet another turn...nothing.
Urdak, determined dwarf that he is, keeps on turning to the left until someone tells him to stop. Nothing continues to happen.

Wut d'wedknock! The Dwarf finally explodes. Zis doorn's as ignurnt as d'uddern! Ae sayn we makin toothpick outta zis one also!
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
The keyhole isn't in a door; it's in the stone floor. Of course, Urdak might like stone toothpicks!
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
OOC: Hmm Thought that would work. Maybe turn it right for a while and see?
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Substitute the word "Key" for the word "Doorn." There, he could use a brass toothpick!
Urdak shrugs and begins turning the key the opposite direction.

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
I thought someone kept spurting off parts of some poem where did that all come from anyway? Or perhaps it was a riddle. But would there not be some clue in there as to this whole scenario?

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Urdak shrugs and starts turning the bronze key to the right. McCloud stands in the room, near the doorway, holding the rope that's tied to Urdak. Quinn and Odilo wait outside the door to the room—the cowards—while Skarlos does his own thing near the partially bashed-in door.
Urdak turns the key once to the right...again, nothing happens.
He gives it a second turn to the right. Nothing.
One more turn to the right...
*CLICK*
You all feel a rumbling, but Urdak most of all, as the center of the floor of the south 15' of the room begins to peak right under his feet. The peaking floor rises rapidly toward the ceiling...

Odilo feeling the rumbling floor and hearing the noises goes to peek in at his dwarf friend "Oh my. Urdak where are you going?" he calls out.

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Skarlos moves round to check out the rumbling.
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
"Urdak, step back and through the secret door," Quinn suggests.
OOC: I would get off of the area outlined in blue on Zhym's map
That was me spurting off stuff from the poem. The poem was written on the floor of the entrance chamber. The last lines are, "You've left and left and found my Tomb and now your soul will die." I throught it would indicate key turn direction but I guess it was more directional and referring to the way to go from the previous room. Left from under the statue, and then left to the secret door?

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Ah so it was Quinn that remembered what Odilo did not see since he was magically deposited in mid dungeon. Thank you.

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
With the rope securely held around him and the room elevating McCloud will spring into action using his magic device to yank Urdak away from being pressed like a daisy into the ceiling stonework.
For some reason I thought he had Boots of springing but in fact he wears a Ring of Jumping. And so will click his fingers in the appropriate manner to assist the dwarves' little legs movement rate. Hopefully McCloud won't just 'bungee' back into Urdak and they both lie on the lift going up...

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
The Dwarf stands gaping at the floor just a moment. Even one with INT less than a Carnivorous Ape can know when it's time to move! He jumps off the rising section, aided by McCloud's yank.
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Urdak jumps off the rising structure, with an assist from the rope pulled by McCloud. He's rising so fast that by the time he can jump, he's already 10 feet in the air. He lands with a clanging thud (-3 HP). The "floor" where he just stood rises to the ceiling, where it would have smashed the dwarf to a thin paste had he not moved quickly enough.
The south 15' of the room is now filled by a vault that appears to be made of solid mithril. There is a door in the center of the device, with an inset ring.

Odilo "Oh my this must be the best thing for a dwarf to see. Look at all that splendid mithril. Urdak are you alright? First honor should be yours after all you opened the door."

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Oh, mine Clanggdin... Urdak's eyes grow so wide they become bloodshot, and drool begins to form at the corners of his mouth. Mithril! He steps slowly, awkwardly forward, arms outstretched, as if in a trance, to simply touch the beautiful metal.
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Okay, it's mesmerizing. Ya gonna open the door?

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
"Surely this must be the final resting place. I think a trap check on the door would be prudent would it not?"
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Without touching the door, Quinn checks for traps.
