I think some of you are forgetting that our original group are actually emissaries for the wolf. He told Wendall specifically that we could travel freely through his lands.

Wendall

Im with Varas! We should go due east to start out. I'm not afraid of Mr. M at all. He is our ally as far as I'm concerned.

Why waste time going north before we head east. If we want to head east, let's just go east. We were allowed passage through the lands of the wolf, we should take advantage of this opportunity nobody else has, says the dwarf.

3 pages of discussion about what direction to travel? This might be a long adventure.

At the risk of sounding more like a jerk, I am going to say this again for those of you who aren't paying attention. This adventuring stuff is serious business! It is NOT safe out there, as is eviDENT by my crushed in skull. We all need to take this very seriously because every one of our lives depends on it. Every one of this original group is a hardened veteran of the moors, well, maybe not Harold, but all the rest of us. The rest of you will need to heed our advice if you want to survive. It's not some fun little romp we are going on. There are creatures out there that can and will kill us givin one speck of a chance. Some of you are treating this like its going to be a fun little walk in the park. I assure you......it's NOT!

Psssst. Hey Val. Why don't you let the experienced travelers do the "leading" and you can be in charge of everything that you history nerds feel is important. Does that sound okay? If the insane tree said the Elves lived in the east, why would we travel to the north first?

I still haven't heard from our divine casters yet though. Do you both have any idea of what spells you will be casting?

Wendall then addresses Baxtaw for the first time.

I don't know if I've seen you around before yet or not. Do you have any experience outside the walls you could share with us before we depart?

I don't really care which direction we go, Wendall is just speaking his mind again, unfortunately.

Val gives Wendall a confused look, "I... honestly don't know what you are talking about. I do not fear for the wolves, I fear that we run around like novices in a land far too south for any elves to live. Hence going north to the forests then heading east to travel. I am not some dictator or self proclaimed leader, which is why everyone is getting their votes in, if you take issue with the group deciding the best course of travel then please suggest your alternative, I have no problems taking another's lead if it is sound and I make no effort to order others to do my will."

He looks to the group, "While the young mages outburst was confusing to say the least he is not wrong in that we have dallied here long enough, there is no exact coordinates besides east in direction. I had left this to a group decision to spare feelings but if that is obviously not working we can try a more direct route..." He looks to the previous adventurers, "If you can assure that this druid will grant everyone safe passage to roam throughout his apparent territory then I see no problem with going east, the whole alternative came from an unknown druid that seems to come and go as he pleases not being the most trustworthy source when meeting new faces." He waits for the others to chime in, letting him know whether they would trust the druid or play it safe and add a bit more time to the journey.

Harold feigns snoring then waking up. "I'm sorry, was Wendall talking? I've learned that the best use of time during one of his speeches is to grab a quick nap. Well, a nap. His speeches aren't always quick."

"So, north?"

The Seven Clerics of Vaul--

Harold, Cleric of Wrath
Crivit, Cleric of Gluttony
Krysta, Cleric of Lust
Olympia, Cleric of Pride
Murdoch, Cleric of Sloth (just lying around all the time)
???, Cleric of Envy
???, Cleric of Greed

Two positions open. I don't think Galen really fits into either of those roles given his characterization so far. Taking applications!

Varas gets even more annoyed. "Funny joke, Harold, but let's quit farting around. Let's go east. If the shapechanger gets mad at us, which I don't think he will, there are plenty of us here to deal with him."

He pauses for a second. "Will any of you wizards types be willing to take the reins of Mustard here if he get in a scrap? I know you all don't like getting your hands dirty, and it would be a shame if they ran away." He nods towards his horse, making it clear that Mustard is the name of his straw-colored horse.

Wendall shoots slim an eye dagger and again pulls out his journal. He scribbles in it feverishly for a moment before addressing Varas.

I would help when I can. I used to have to clean out the stables back at the church and I know how to move horses around a little.

You don't really want your most powerful wizard handling your mount when there is magic to sling however. Perhaps one of the others may be better suited for the job.

The wolf is not our friend. I never claimed that he was. He did, however, tell us we had permission to travel through his lands. Who knows, if we do encounter him, he may have some knowledge of the elves we seek.

Baxtaw- Wendall I agree with you. We should travel east, I don't understand the reasoning for traveling north. This is my second adventure departing this little town. My first adventure was into the ruins in the east. I lost one friend in those ruins and another is wandered off into the woods saying something about Twelve days.

Wendall gets wide eyes when Baxtaw speaks.

Thanks Bax! Those ruins sound like a good place to avoid to me.

So......I guess it's settled then? East it is!

Wendall gives Val a friendly but annoying look. He crinkles up his nose and bobs his head back and forth as if to say, na, na, na na, na.

Nihilius offers to care for the horse if trouble comes. "East sounds fine... I submit to whatever Val decides, as the elf is best when seeking elves."

Val simply shrugs, completely ignoring the looks from Wendall, "It seems it is decided then, we travel east and should the druid make contact with us those that deem him not a threat may speak on behalf of the group. Let us go, we have wasted enough light."

Val grabs his stuff and leads the group out... due east.

Wendall smiles and pats Val on the back on the way out of town.

I'm glad you have a good sense of humor my friend. Good luck to all of us on this journey. I'm glad to have some party members that are excited to get out and learn about the area and its denizens. Knowledge is the ultimate power after all.

Val gives Wendall a slight chuckle and ruffles his hair atop the boys misshapen head, "Truly, something we can agree wholeheartedly on, Knowledge is the ultimate power." The elven researcher continues to lead the group out of the gates, headed east.

Nihilius settles in to a pace, taking an opportunity to greet and familiarize himself with Mustard, the horse, as they walk. He talks quietly to the horse in a comforting tone and rubs its mane.

After that, he falls into stride along side Braxtaw as they approach the ruins, presumably about three hours outside of town due East along their course. "You said you were with the quest to these ruins? I just transcribed a record of the journey from one of your companions. I would like to hear more of the tale from your perspective, if you'd tell it."

Baxtaw- It was the second attempt to enter the ruins. I was brought into the group after the first attempt. They had lost a member in that first attempt from being a attack from skeletons. when they activated a trap in which the skeletons outmatched them. On the second attempt there was trap after trap in which encountered. We had finally made it to the final chamber. There was a Sarcophagus in the chamber when the seal was broken a smoke rose out and overcame my friend. Then he my friend Ulf attempted to him down. And when we did the smoke rose out of my friends body and then overtook Ulf. We ran for our lives from the ruins. We watched it exit the ruins. And then went back to recover the body of our fallen comrade.

 I don't think that's exactly what happened, but it was a rather tense episode so I'm sure facts could have been blurred a bit.

Olympia ensures her pack is full of fresh rations now that she has some gold to spare, then walks up to the elf in charge of the expedition. "I trust whichever decision you make about our traveling direction," she tells Valorei. "Perhaps it's best if you decide anyhow--maybe you can locate your kin intuitively!"
