Dragon Age - Clash of Steel, Age of Magic [Recruiting OPEN]
Hey all!
I am looking for those brave enough to venture into a system that not many here probably know about, Dragon Age!
The system runs on a 3d6 type roll style that features DC (difficulty Checks) that vary from amateur easy to heroically impossible! The creatures of the game, Green Ronin, brought in a new feature that I think gives combat a fun new twist, the stunt table!
Obviously the dice will need to be altered somewhat than what most people are used to rolling in order to incorporate the stunt system, but the change is basically rolling [1d6], [1d6], [1d6] instead of [3d6]. I will of course get into that information once the game takes off and has a thread of it's own to call home!
For everyone that is willing to become heroes of legend, killing the dark and twisted forces known as darkspawn as well as hunting down legendary creatures, I give you my introduction!
~~~~~~~~~~
To the highest scholars of the Chantry and to the lowest level of the nobles spread throughout the land, the world is at peace. The last blight had been driven off more than 20 years ago, the people have forgotten about the dangers that still lurk below, lulled into a sense of safety that peaceful times always bring. The men and women that died, the soldiers that lost their lives defending the realms they call home, and the fabled grey warden warriors and mages that sacrificed their lives to stop the blight, all but forgotten. Their epic battles now just a vague memory told as stories to children to either scare or awe them.
Truly, a time of peace.
But in peace, corruption takes hold, like a weed it infests the governments, military, and even the back alley's of a bustling city. In the absence of world ending threats there comes smaller challenges. Bickering nobles, rogue soldiers, banditry, political corruption, assassination attempts... indeed, in the absence of a great threat comes almost endless amounts of smaller challenges.
But that's fine, after all, that's what you're here for.
As a newly formed mercenary band your job is to take on these challenges, earning money, fame, and prestige as you work your way up the ladders and become a truly formidable and famous mercenary band. And who knows, as you travel between the different regions of the world, killing bandits, saving merchants and kind folk, scouring the areas for rare herbs, or even killing dangerous creatures for even rarer ingredients, you may just stumble upon the fact even when the lords of the land call the times peaceful, the darkness lurking just outside their walls is still all to real...
What do you mean by all 3 sets? The core rule books? If so then yes.Rhal wrote:I am so in! What more do you need from me?
I will be running main mechanical rules, which honestly isn't all that complex (part of the reason why I love it)
There will of course be some homebrew stuff added in or some existing rules changed a bit to suit the need if they are too cumbersome.
I will also be adding in, as far as I know, custom race and classes. You want an example you say?!
Well... Lets just say that if your life calling is to be the trained mabari war hound of another player or a second character of yours then... I think we can help you out...
I know you two and Antman wanted in so that's 3.
Honestly as long as everyone pulls in their weight I don't really see the need to have a restricted number of players and whatnot.... I mean, lets not get crazy and have 100 players in here but you get my point!
This is a mercenary band were making! It's bound to have a bunch of peeps!
Plus... I run a pretty much sandbox, each town/city/hamlet/farming community/makeshift hole in ground will have a board of bounties, your life blood. It's up to the band leader, if you decide to pick one, or the group decision on which mission to go on!
and remember, pick your missions well, time doesn't stop for you and when you return those missions may just well be gone or expired!
Honestly? The quick reference will get you through everything but stunts.
but I'll also be putting all base mechanics, races, classes, and home rules in the thread.
and ofcourse, if anyone has any questions at any time then just ask me!
Level 1 primarily.Rhal wrote:What level were you thinking about starting at?
Cool thing about this game is that it rewards experience based off of difficulty for each encounter, there isn't a bunch of monster and treasure to tally up and split amongst a group. While that may be bad or good depending on the encounters, trust me it won't be hard to level a character up.
Especially with how I play...
Re: Dragon Age - Clash of Steel, Age of Magic
So far I have the players:
Rhal
GreyWolfVT
Antman9
Stirling
I will keep this thread going until tomorrow afternoon to give people more time to look through it and decide if they want to play. Whether or not I get more players or continue to have this many by tomorrow afternoon I will be PMing Tonixx for a thread to be made.
For you lurkers out there, DON'T BE SHY!!!!!
I'm really quite nice and easy going! I don't bite unless provoked even!
Once the thread is up I'll dump the obligatory info to creating a character and any cool stuffs!
That's no problem! I wouldn't want anyone to rush their character creation.GreyWolfVT wrote:don't mind me I'll be slow in my creation got lots of stuff taking my time up from char creation.
Luckily for you though Dragon Age character creation isn't that hard! hardest part of the character process is picking the Talents and Focuses you want each time you are able to get one.
And of course please just ask me if anything confuses you, or anyone else playing! I would be happy to answer any questions and even walk something through the whole process. I am confident that if I can walk my 6 year old Nephew into making a Qunari warrior named THUNDERBOLT, then I can help you "grown ups" no problem
What races/classes do you have?
games works mostly off of backgrounds, which are actually a thing honestly. Each character can of course have their own "background" but the character sheet actually has a field for a specific one.
And since I don't have the books in front of me I will try my best to list them all out from memory, needless to say everything is open.
Remember that some races can only have certain classes and each class has certain backgrounds, a warrior for instance cannot be a circle mage and a Dwarf cannot be a mage at all. I will of course go into more detail once the thread is up.
Races:
Human, Dwarf, Elf, Qunari, Mabari Warhound (custom race)
Classes: Warrior, Rogue, Mage, Warhound (dogs only please apply)
So far it seems pretty basic yeah? Thats where the specific backgrounds come into play...
Backgrounds:
Ferelden Freeman - hearty folk
Fereldan Craftsman - hearty folk with flare?
City Elf - basically the poor dredges of the city slums (elves are basically black people when racism was still an accepted thing)
Dalish Elf - elves that live in the woods and stuff, still hated on by other races - think maybe roaming gypsies?
Surface Dwarf - outcast to the "true" dwarves, dwarves are extreme isolationists and stuff
Not-surface dwarf - "true" dwarf, comes in flavor and stuff - may have repercussions for being on surface - needs reason for it too
-Comes in flavors of the different castes, noble, smith, miner, warrior, casteless, w/e
Avaar Barbarians - mountain folk, big humans that love to fight and raid - not liked by civil folks
Chasind Wilders - Forest/swamp Barbarians, like hit and run tactics and being not where the enemies thinks they are - not liked by Civil folks
Circle Mage - standard mage flare, magic is feared and all mages are kept under close guard by templars - allowed out on missions that are accepted by the Chantry
Apostate - Mage in hiding from templars, mostly self trained or trained in secret by fellow apostates - use magic publicly expect people to rat your ass out
Orlais Exile - wanderer exiled from orlais for w/e reason
Qunari (Beerasaad?) - Qunari of the Qun, usually in other lands to spy or stuff for the Qun
Qunari A-something - Qunari that rebelled against the Qun - rebel Qunari lol
Other stuff that I forgot.
Re: Dragon Age - Clash of Steel, Age of Magic
Alright everyone!
The thread is up but not open quite yet!
There is an OOC thread open if you all would like to talk to eachother about the game or different ideas you have, or even about the newest style of hair braiding!
Later today I will be updating the threads for character creation, mechanics, as well as finishing out the market stuff.
I can swing player posts during work but copying the stuff from the book as well as setting everything up is a bit too obvious.
For peoples playing, I will be using the unseen dice roller for rolls, so if you have a character idea and name you can go ahead and get that done, campaign ID is 251!!!!!
