As long as nobody objects, Rhys places the rod in his pack.
Updated inventory.
Once they have a chance, he'll see if he can get the mechanical knight's mace properly identified.

Vanco tries to examine Tev to see if there is any sign of the paralysis weakening. "Otherwise, I fear we must carry you rather than wait too much longer," he remarks.

That's pretty awesome.

While the adventurers debate what to do Bruno hisses a warning: "Lights, from behind us!" Sure enough, when the adventurers glance around they see the glow of lights, approaching from the direction of the scorpion caves.

Quint Kacie
His face wrinkling in confusion at Severi's remark ("Steely Dan?" I don't understand...") he turns his attention back to Tev, trying to make his more comfortable until the paralysis wears off.

At Bruno's warning he perks up. "We need to move then. Can two of us carry Tev, perhaps and keep going?"
LOL. Nice, Wyzard.

FYI, Tev is heavy. Gear only, he's currently 1167 cn. If you leave behind his halberd, it's -150 cn. Leaving behind his backpack is -220 cn. He's gonna be pissed if you leave behind his crossbow (-65 cn) because it's masterwork and won't be easy to replace. His backpack mostly has adventuring gear, though it probably has some gold stuffed into it now, too.

He, himself, is 145 lbs, which I think is 1450 cn, so that becomes 2617 cn if you haul him out with all of his stuff.

Ah, hell. Did I just make you guys choose between porting out a gold haul or porting out Tev?

What if we just make him invisible? Then he can hang out until he regains control of his body!

Would we be able to move at all with Tev, his gear and the gold if several of us just dragged him?

Sure. Probably not as fast as whomever is approaching you guys from further down the tunnel, but sure.

I'm open to being dragged into a corner and being made invisible, but I don't know how Tev would tell you that.

I was really just kidding. Time to fight... Or talk, maybe...
Rhys draws his sword and moves down the hallway towards the noise. Once he is a good distance (15 or 20 feet?) from the others, he attempts to conceal himself in the shadows.

As Rhys edges forward to investigate the light he comes face to face with a heavily armed warrior just rounding the corner. Neither explorer is surprised. Rhys can see there are at least four more individuals behind the fighter; all appear to be human.

"Ho!" the man exclaims, hand on his sword, "'tis the noble monk Rhys Morgan, I do believe! Truly these caverns are a labyrinthine maze!" Rhys believes the man looks to be familiar.

Rhys sheathes his sword with a nod and smiles, "Greetings, friends! What brings you down into these darkest of recesses?"

Severi advances to assist in the negotiations, if necessary.

"Why, gold and glory, of course! Same as you, no doubt. We all have heard the tales of the the ruins of this place, and decided to see for ourselves what treasures were to be wrested from the ground!" Rhys finally places the man's face; he is Baso the Boisterous, and has been seen frequenting the same inn and taphouses as the mercenaries the party had previously hired. "Alas, we have found the orcs have nearly all fled, taking their ill-gotten lucre with them!"

Rhys jerks a thumb over his shoulder, "If it is adventure and excitement you crave, Baso, then you are sure to find it down that way. There are, or at least there were, orcs down there. But there is something bigger, too. Some sort of proto-orc. They look similar, but are bigger and meaner. We dealt with a few of them, but I'm most certain there are more - plenty for all of us, to be sure. We have had some success, although we haven't found much of value on them yet. We are hoping there is a hoard not yet discovered. But for the time being, we were pulling back to see what is wrong with our man Tev, who can't seem to move at the moment."

"A bit of advice for you. If you have any wine, don't drink it in celebration until you're safe from here. That is, if you have any left." He points at the remains of the solid grey gunk on his pants. "There are some rather large beetles down here with a nasty sort of spit. You'll want to wash it off with strong wine before you get turned into one of the pillars you'll be sure to see further on."

Rhys acts cordial and polite, as is his nature with fellow adventurers. But he is also cautious and does not let his guard down, as is his nature with fellow adventurers...

Beso the Boisterous

A brief expression flits across Beso's face. The companions, having no doubt experienced such a range of emotions themselves in the past, have no trouble identifying it. "So, you say you battled these creatures, yet did not find their hoard? Would you mind, uh, telling me where their lair lies?" He examines his fingers intently. "So we can, um, avoid it, as the creatures you describe sounds deadly indeed."

Beso the Boisterous

Beso nods sympathetically. "Very well. We will be off. Hopefully we do not accidentally stumble upon this hoard of tre -- I mean, lair of deadly monsters." The other party moves off further down the tunnel.
