Felmont 3, AC 1000
The Caves under the Forgotten City
10:25 am
15 turns elapsed
The column is doused with a liberal amount of oil and set to the torch. It burns merrily for a few moments, then the mucilagenic substance composing the column begins to bubble and sizzle; an acrid grey smoke begins to fill the air. The column seems to vibrate slightly, and far off in the distance a thin, warbling wail can be heard. Curiously, it becomes evident as the column burns that it actually goes through the floor, down to some as yet unexplored level below.

Re: IC XV
Quint Kacie
Splashing a final flask of oil on one of the columns for good measure, Quint begins to cough as the smoke and fumes irritate his eyes and throat. He runs a hand over the feathers of the raptor that still rides his shoulder, as he makes for the doorway back to the guardroom. "Should have left you outside where it was safer and more open," he tells her.
"Every room in this bloody hole has more ways in and out than I care to see, but at least the guardroom will be smaller and more defensible."

Re: IC XV
Quint throws one more flask of oil upon the column, which is now burning like a piece of fatwood; rivulets of grey wax run down it, sizzling and popping in the heat. Advancing to the hall of statues, they see the two columns in there, as yet unburnt, are also vibrating and dancing in their place. The adventurers are reminded of the dance that young children do when they have to relieve themselves, yet are too involved in their current activities to actually go.
The adventurers are at the end of the hall, heading for the guardroom, when they come face to face with two of the large brutish ur-orcs, both brandishing thick blades forged from dull black iron.

Quint Kacie
Quint cautiously advances, but keeps the armor-encased warriors of the group between him and the ur-orcs. Knowing he won't add too much to the party's combat effectiveness, he still pulls his sling back out and launches a stone at one of the pair, doing what he can to help.

Tev Meren
Tev brandishes his halberd, advancing on the enemy and taking the second rank. If possible or needed, he'll drop the polearm and ready his sword. In any event, his shield will not be readied.

Rhys draws his sword and likewise begins attacking. He goes after what appears to be the smaller of the two with hopes of bringing it down quickly.
Dragon foot. Bamboo pole. Little mouse. Tiny boy.
