Melvin re-enters the tavern.
"It turns out that the innkeeper and I have vastly different ideas of reasonable rates for long-term lodging," he tells Ghrym. "Would you happen to know of any town—"
Melvin just catches himself before he says "townies." Maybe the townies don't like being called "townies." Besides, he's trying to become one.
"—speople who might be looking for a lodger? I'm very quiet, unless one is disturbed by the sounds of quill on parchment, and happy to pay for a full month in advance."

"I've seen these very goblins. Their leader is a reasonable creature, but the others are savages. The leader even let me spend a night in their warren, although he killed one of his own that meant to kill me. I am trying to convert them to the faith of Veles, but it will be a long row to how, I'm afraid" says Crivit all in one breath. "If you choose that direction, I'll have to stay behind. They made it clear I wasn't welcome back too soon. I plan to search for souls west of here. To my knowledge that area has yet to be explored" he suggests.hedgeknight wrote:Keehnelf wrote:there's no such thing as an official venture, unless you get a job from the duke, in which case the job is likely to be hard and dangerous and not pay what it's likely worth. Your best step forward is to come up with a plan, find some teammates willing to participate in it, then announce to me here in red text where you're going, when you're leaving, and who's involved.
At this stage the goblins are still the duke's enemy and he will pay 1,000 gold pieces to whoever can drive them off.
There have also been plenty of other rumors circulating, including:
A giant black shapeshifting wolf that may be evil or may be an ally.
Lizard men to the west.
Goblins in the forest to the north.
An odd musician who enchants with his song to the west.
A series of watchtowers strung across the land east-to-west which may or may not be inhabited.
Appreciate the advice > wasn't sure how to go about things. So assuming my table companions have heard these rumors...
"I've heard tales of goblins in the forest north of town. Any other leads on where we could go?"

Krysta shrugs. "West sounds good to me! When were you thinking about heading out?"
Winter is coming...

This adventure sounds like the setup for a joke: "a fat priest, a woman priest and an old lady walk into a tavern..."

Crivit responds. "Tomorrow morning. My purse is light and Veres's patience is short. I will pray for the spell of light for our venture tomorrow. It has many uses. Shall we meet here at sunrise?"

Adrik watches the conversation with a back-and-forth swaying of his head, finding it difficult to break in to the humans' speeches. When the question is posed as to whether or not anyone is interested in leaving in the morning, he clears his throat and says, "Erm, is it too late to be a part of this?"

"A stout dwarf such as yourself could be a boon to the group. Of course you're welcome!" says Crivit.

Last week we were driving through downtown here and my wife saw a guy in a really crazy striped hat. She pointed and said, "oh my god, that hat is so silly--it's the sort of thing a little person would wear!"
I realized after the fact that she meant children when she said little people, but at the time it sounded like she had some really strange stereotypes in her head about midgets and dwarves.

The expedition led by Crivit to explore the west, along with Adrik, Krysta and Constance, departs Vaul in the morning. Wish them luck--they may need it if the reports of well-organized lizard men inhabiting that region are true!
The expedition thread is now open--please make sure you've paid lodging through the 28th if you have not already done so, and do any last-minute shopping in the town business thread.

I don't have a LL book, so I'm going to copy what Crivit has done for Adrik's lodgings as well...

If you go to the How This Works thread, there is a link in the first post to the free download of the LLO rules.
Also, 1cp for ale is the base price, plus 5c for common room, 1s for single room, 3s for suite lodgings per night.

A short, quite fat man enters the tavern, dressed in garish pseudo-finery.
"You there, barman, tell me: What manner of being is a Wendall, and where might one locate such?"

Wendall enters the tavern later in the day, looking for his friends.
Hey there Master Ghrym! How's the ale slinging going? He decides to get crazy and actually orders a mug of the good stuff.
Have you seen Varas or any of the others from my group lately?

Varas taps The Wendall on the shoulder. "Well, if it isn't Vaul's newest noble. How is your estate, young man?" he laughs.

Constance has paid 5c for common room use.

Olympia appears from a corner of the bar and playfully smacks Wendall on the shoulder. "Ah, the young master!" she cheers.

Re: Briarbeard Tavern (Vaul) - II
Wendall looks at both of his companions with a very strange look on his face. He says nothing but looks very confused at their words.
After an awkward moment he tries to do a hand shake shoulder bump thing with Varas but the height difference makes it look more ridiculous than cool so he just smiles at Olympia.
So, what's new with you two, anything? He says nervously, as he takes a drink and winces a little.
Got any ideas when we're gonna head back out for some more excitement?
