Give him credit for realizing "scavenger" is probably the most lucrative profession in this game, at least until everyone else gets in on the action. :D

In a broadly-defined way, "scavenger" is almost always the most lucrative profession in OD&D and B/X :)

Too bad there aren't many PC corpses lying about just waiting to be relieved of their no-longer-used belongings...

See? A high mortality rate actually contributes to the economy in a significant way!

If Bertram makes it back from this expedition he'll have a bunch of XP waiting for him just based on exploration.

That was rough to get the encounter and to get surprised, sorry--let's hope the team can get you pulled to safety!

Lots of "oh nos." Oh no, a half dozen goblins are approaching Varas' party sans sleep spell. Oh no, a halfling's getting his blood sucked out by three stirges.

I'm kind of relieved. I was worried I might be killed by more extreme weather on the return trip.

By comparison, the encounter with the devil-bunny is looking pretty good right now!

Two fights and twice surprised. That's why Lars sticks to scavenging.
