Olympia's handshake is mighty. "My friend here is quite eager to exterminate some goblins!"

After taking a swig of beer, she looks at little Largo."You'd be wise to join them, friend. I am bound for other quests. But be well--all of you. And should I ever encounter you in need of healing, my skills are at your service. I trust the will of the Mighty and Unbreakable Sun that we shall journey together some other day!"

Numen also shows up, and looks completely suspicious of Olympia. It's clear he'll never join an adventuring party with her in its ranks!

Olympia looks at Ghyrm. "Barkeep, is there some other work...some guard's work or suchlike?"

Whether guard work is available on the 21st depends on whether Quirin takes on the job on the 15th or not. I will let you know as soon as he gives it a thumb's up or down.

Largo ignores the proffered hand as he looks about the tavern, warily.

"Wolfs?" He leans over/onto Otis and murmurs something into the dog's floppy ear. His hand goes to the handle of his axe at his belt.

He straightens and looks around the tavern again.

Turning back to Bertram: "I am called Largo. He is called Otis."

He raises his mug to his lips, but the rest of his beer was spilled down the side of the dog, who begins lapping at his fur.

Quirin won't accept the job until he has a team ready to go with him so, as of the 17th, it's still available.

OK, if it makes it to the 17th there's an update in the Town Business thread on that one.

Bertram releases Olympia's hand and immediately shakes off the numbness as discreetly as possible, as he smiles back. "A pleasure to meet you, to be sure. We could have used your talents last week. Hopefully we meet again."

He replies to Largo, nodding his head at his and the dog's introduction. "Wolves...yes. What say you? Are you up for an adventure?"

Largo nods for a bit, then pauses, furrowing his brow.

Eventually, he nods some more. "Yes. We will go with you."

Otis, the dog, belches.

Abi
enters the tavern, walks up to the bar, and orders an ale. She says to Grhym, "Are there any wise women or sooth sayers in town that can tell us when this retched weather will end?" She takes off her hat and places it on the bar along with 2c for the drink.

Ghrym laughs, the first time he has done so heartily in days. "By the end of April, all this will be behind us. It doesn't get so hot during the summer, but at least the sun stays out. This'll go on and off for a few more weeks, though last year we did have a bit better time of it than this."

We have Bertram, Abi, Numen, and Largo. Just waiting for Rhodri and Quirin.
March 21
Bertram will introduce Largo to the quiet, Abi Sadira, and the even more silent elf, Numen.
"So are we going to give the forest another try? Or should we try a different direction?"

"Same," Numen suggests, then pats his shortbow. "Ready this time."

They're both reasonably well-trained, despite Otis's laid-back demeanor, so even if they don't get along it doesn't disrupt things. Let's do a quick reaction check, though:

Of course! Mammon's so hapy-go-lucky and Otis seems pretty chill!

March 21

Rhodri limps into the common room, favoring his recently-bitten leg. He slumps onto a stool and signals Ghrym. "I fear a steady diet of bread and pease porridge will be the end of me. I felt the need for something with more substance." When the dwarven barkeep brings him a mug of ale, he drinks it like a man dying of thirst.

He gives somber nods to his recent, shortly-acquainted comrades. When the discussion turns to venturing forth, he says in his usual glum tone, "Sure, how much worse could it go than our last foray? Well, I suppose I could die this time. Or someone else could. Or maybe we all could. In retrospect, forget I said anything...hopefully the gods weren't listening either."

Despite his cynical remarks, Rhodri is clearly willing to head out again.

Yeah, I say same direction. But I say we skirt the forest, blaze some new territory...maybe we'll find something else of interest to investigate or report.

Rhodri is one day shy of catching up with the rest of his previous team--book a room for one night and I'll update the roster so you can travel together again.

"Heh...die." Numen begins to chuckle at Rhodri's words. He really seems to appreciate his fellow elf's "humor".

Quick note/reminder:

The Band of Casters Plus Bertram and a Dog was in town recuperating when Varas's gang returned, so feel free to engage in cross-group chatter if you like before one or the other departs again.

March 14th

Ace leaves a copper on the bar for Ghrym, doffs his hat, and heads across the street to the inn to find lodgings for Harrold and himself. He will take two days to rest fully and to make plans.

Whoops. On it.

Hey Kent...are you familiar with Templar, Arizona? Because every time Numen talks, I see Gene.

And now we're just waiting for Quirin. I am assuming he was still with us from his post OOC, but his March 15 timestamp leaves him a lot of opportunities, so I guess we wait until he chimes in.

With any luck, I am hoping to get on the road by noon on the 21st. "I like Rhodri's suggestion of going northeast and then skirting the forest eastward."

Bertram will be grabbing one day of fresh rations right before we leave, as well.
