The Mines of Dwelf Copperhelm
Re: The Mines of Dwelf Copperhelm
Ruby gives Drizzle a sympathetic look and then moves about the room looking for any more triggers and secret doors.
Ruby will then move cautiously down the corridor, keeping an eye out for more traps!

Re: The Mines of Dwelf Copperhelm
Drizzle dusts himself off. Thank you for the healing, Arsenios. I appreciate it.
He will then follow Ruby and be more careful.

Re: The Mines of Dwelf Copperhelm
I'll assume you are using the marching order and have weapons readied as noted in the Standard Actions thread, feel free to update as needed.
You head west carefully, avoiding the trigger Adrog has pointed out in the floor. As you pass, you notice the leering face is high enough that its blast would probably avoid hitting Dwarves or anyone of that height or smaller.
You travel 20 feet down the darkened corrider, lit only by Arsenios' light-wand, just into view about 30 feet ahead is a spiral staircase up, while the corridor you are in turns to the right (due north, according to Adrog).
[1d6] = 6 surprise - party not surprised
Moving towards you at a deliberate pace is a giant lizard-like creature, with gleaming black skin, six short legs and snout fitted with rows of white needle-teeth and a darting, narrow tongue. Ssssss... a second rounds the corner as you watch, just a few feet behind the first. They are monstrous, perhaps 12 feet in length. The first is now 20 feet away from you.

Adrog looks to put his back to a wall where they can't get to him more than one at a time and readies his weapons.
Looks like it's my turn, sweetlings.
Re: The Mines of Dwelf Copperhelm
Drizzle says, No, let me see what I can do. He weaves his fingers in a hypnotic pattern and tells the lizard things sleep.
Re: The Mines of Dwelf Copperhelm
Ruby will move back to the party and ready her short sword.
Re: The Mines of Dwelf Copperhelm
Initiative: [1d6] = 3 Party [1d6] = 1 Giant Lizards PCs go first!
Let's see how many creatures get affected by the spell, OD&D has it at "1-6 3rd-level types", which is OK as the lizards have 3+1 HD. Any extra may spill over...
[1d6] = 5 Drizzle sleep
Drizzle moves his hands and utters a few cryptic phrases, and the two lizards collpase to the floor, quite asleep, along with Adrog and Arsenios, who were in front of Drizzle when he cast his spell.
All is quiet, save for the snoring of Arsenios and Adrog.
About 30 feet ahead, past the sleeping lizards, is a spiral staircase up, while the corridor you are in turns to the right (due north, according to Adrog).

Drizzle
So Ruby, we have two options here: wake the others or loot them. If we loot them we might get more treasure than we dreamed of in this dump, he suggests with a wink as he sets about killing the sleeping lizards. We should gut them too. Lizards sometimes eat things that are valuable, and their meat can be tasty.

Adrog rolls over, farts loudly, then resumes snoring.

From the gut of the nearest lizard a slime-covered orb rolls onto the floor. It is perhaps 5 inches in diameter and even in the dim light from Arsenios' wand (as it is now on the floor) you can see glnts of crystalline surface underneath as the orb rolls along the floor and finally stops a few feet from Drizzle, as if beckoning him.
Ruby thinks a moment, then wakes Adrog and Arsenios anyway.
Re: The Mines of Dwelf Copperhelm
Drizzle picks up the orb and examines it while Ruby wakes the others.
Re: The Mines of Dwelf Copperhelm
Drizzle carefully wipes the orb down on his robes, and notes immediately the perfect spherical shape and pure crystalline structure. As he holds it up and peers into it he feels a sensation in his head not unlike his brains being tugged by a rope...as he watches the center of the orb grows opaque with formless wisps of grey smoke. A bead of sweat breaks out on his forehead...

Arsenios - Cleric
"Wait...what..." Arsenios sits up with a start, very confused. "Last thing I remember we were under attack...uhmm if this is the afterlife, I must say I am very disappointed..." he says looking around with bewilderment.

Hearing more noise than he can sleep through, Adrog begins to stir.
Kruk! What happened? What are those things?

Re: The Mines of Dwelf Copperhelm
Just giving this a bump.
About 30 feet ahead, past the gutted lizards, is a spiral staircase up, while the corridor you are in turns to the right (due north, according to Adrog).
Drizzle studies a mysterious globe.

Drizzle
Drizzle cleans and inspects the globe. He peers into it to see if there are things within. He will also try words of power he's heard before ("Abra Kadabra", "Avada kadavera", "Shazam", "Zipp, zap, zoop", etc) to see if it's activated.
He will suggest following the corridor north.

Re: The Mines of Dwelf Copperhelm
While Drizzle is thinking of the current location and which direction to go, the formless mist clears and the center of the orb forms a picture of a dungeon corridor from above... Drizzle recognizes himself peering into the orb, and the dead lizards, along with Ruby, Adrog and Arsenios. Clearly this is some kind of scrying device. As Drizzle's attention wanders, the picture snaps out of focus and the mist appears again. Drizzle feels fatigued, even from that brief look into the orb. He does not think he could use it but a few times per day without exhausting himself

Ruby will move into the north corridor and listen carefully.
