Just as Marcus comes up alongside Erinar, the floor below their feet opens and drops them down into a pit.MrHemlocks wrote:Pulling himself away from the rocks, Marcus follows behind Erinar as he ventures down the hall. "I got you covered."He whispers as they walk along the dark and rocky hallway.
Marcus looks behind him and notices Pyrrhic at the ready near the pile of rocks. "Smart idea. For I, like yourself, believe that there is something more to that rock pile than meets the eyes. Maybe after we look a bit down the this hall than come back and remove the pile of rocks and see what is behind it...maybe loot?"
Erinar: Falling damage [1d6] = 4
Marcus: Falling Damage [1d6] = 6
The trap door remains open.

Phyrrhic rushes over to the edge of the trap, looking to see how far down his companions fell.

Marcus, hitting the ground feels his soul leave the battered body that housed it. "Now I can rest...."
Re: Part 3: Sojourn into the Barrowmaze
Erinar says,"Marcus? .... MARCUS!!! NO!!!" He puts his ear to Marcus' chest to listen for a heartbeat ...

Dren peers into the pit and shakes his head ... danger truly lurks everywhere in these accursed tombs .....
Seeing Marcus's crumpled body, he feels the cold hand of death on his shoulder for a moment, shivering in response ....
"Erinar ..... does he live?... "

Gawain will pull himself up to the edge of the pit and carefully lower himself down. Checking Marcus' pulse and finding none, he turns to the others, closes the rangers eyes and shakes his head. "The fall broke his neck. Could someone pass me a rope so we can bring his body out? I've no desire for it to serve as the next meal for rats." He then turns his attention to Erinar "Are you OK friend?

"This is a place of graves, but our friend deserves a better resting place. We should either take him out and bury him in the wilderness, or take him back to town for a proper send-off."
Re: Part 3: Sojourn into the Barrowmaze
Erinar says, "I fell on my side but I'm fine. I'll be bruised by morning I'm sure. Here, I have some rope." Erinar tosses up his rope to Dren.

Scrabbling to catch the rope, Dren offers the end to the others ...
"Please friends, with this rope you must help as I have not the strength to lift him alone".

Re: Part 3: Sojourn into the Barrowmaze
With Gawain and Erinar pushing and Dren and Pyrrhic pulling on the rope, you are able to haul Marcus's body out of the pit. As he is pushed into the corridor, a groan is heard escaping his lips. Dren rushes over and places his ear to Marcus's lips, forgoing an attempt to hear his heart through his armor. With great relief, Dren hears air traveling to and from his lungs. Though Marcus is alive, he is still in great danger. The fall has knocked him unconscious and he is bleeding from recent wounds.
A house rule I posted states a character is unconscious and bleeding once he falls to 0 hit points or below. He will continue to lose one hit point/round until he is healed or reaches -10 hit points. Death occurs at -10 hit points.

Once Erinar is out of the pit he casts Cure Light Wounds on Marcus ....
Cure Light Wounds:[1d6+1] = 5+1 = 6
...then Cure Light Wounds on himself...
Cure Light Wounds:[1d6+1] = 5+1 = 6
2 Cure Light Wounds marked as used
"I will need to rest before I can heal again." says Erinar.

Opening his eyes and shaking the dirt out his hair, Marcus puts on an uneasy smile."That was on heck of a fall. Thanks for getting me out there and for the heals. Is everyone else alright?"

Pyrrhic lets out an audible sigh. "Thank the gods we didn't lose you. We need to find somewhere safe to rest, or make haste back to town."
Re: Part 3: Sojourn into the Barrowmaze
Dren beams widely, his oversized wooden teeth somewhat spoiling the view. Hauling Marcus to his feet, he nods at Pyrrhic's suggestion ....
"Resting would be a good idea, although I think we safely could defend a room. I have spikes and a hammer to hold a door if needed?"

"Resting for a bit sounds great to me." Marcus stands up. "Great idea Dren, and I have plenty of strong fishing thread we could use for trip wires to warn us if creatures walk along the halls. Like an early warning device."
