Monsters and party strike at the same time.

Round 3

Freddie switches places with Fanxyl, going back to the barrels in case they need to be lit. Sammy continues fighting with the kobolds that are swarming in the hallway as Fanxyl easily shoots two arrows in time with Sammy's sword swing. The kobold in front of Sammy takes a swing at the same time.
To Hit [1d20] = 11; Dmg [1d6] = 2
The kobold misses as Sammy's sword comes down hard, splitting the kobold in two from head to groin. Fanxyl's first arrow goes straight into the kobold behind it, his second flying off to the side and hitting the wall as he tries to keep from hitting Sammy. 2 kobolds dead.

Gwydion swings at the kobold facing off with him.
To Hit [1d20] = 2; Dmg [1d6] = 2
The kobold misses its swing as the elf slashes off its head as Coppish sends two arrows between him and Sammy. The first arrow bounces off of kobold armor while the second finds its mark and takes down another. 2 kobolds dead.

Trendt and Merthyr are itching for a fight, but can't get through the others in front. Llewellyn tries to help out while Adel begins searching for secret doors. Biblo decides to hang back and wait for an outcome, prepared if any kobolds should get through. The two kobold defects are cheering on their new friends wildly.

Llewellyn's first dart goes too wide, barely missing Gwydion, but his second finds its mark and takes down another kobold. 1 kobold dead.

Aside from two leaders and four elite guards, there is only one kobold left and the leaders are shouting orders and growling viciously at the party. They advance with their guard dogs in front and prepare to get down and dirty.

Trendt takes out his throwing hammer and says "Watch yer shins in the front line." takes aim at any kobold in his range and throws if he has a clear throwing path. Hammer to Hit[1d20+1] = 11+1 = 12 Damage[1d4+2] = 1+2 = 3

Fanxyl takes aim at one of the guard dogs and fires 2 arrows. Somebody let them know we will be using their bodies as spider bait!

1st arrow
to hit: [1d20+1] = 17+1 = 18, to Dam: [1d6+1] = 6+1 = 7

2nd arrow
to hit: [1d20+1] = 20+1 = 21, to Dam: [1d6+1] = 1+1 = 2

Woohoo natural 20 Big damage

Freddie The Fop

Freddie stands ready at the oil barrel. He holds bow fire, not wanting to injure a colleague.

Disgusting, all of this gore -- so macabre I might be given a case of the vapors . . . Freddie exclaims in a breathy voice.

Adel hears dogs, and realize the fight might get more intense. He'll rush back into the room, searching for any ledges to climb up on so he can get above those in the front rank. If he can, he'll throw his spear at the nearest kobold (or attack dog) not in melee.

Party Init. [1d6] = 3
Kobold Init. [1d6] = 1
Party wins!

Round 4!

Trendt decides throwing a hammer to help out would be best at this point, but the hammer flies overhead as the kobold he aims for sees it coming and ducks.

Llewellyn sends three darts at three different kobolds, but only two hit their mark, each one injuring their targets, one slightly and the other critically. The kobolds begin cursing.

Fanxyl takes aim at one of the leaders and lets loose two arrows. Both arrows strike the leader one after the other and he falls dead mid shout.

Sammy swings his massive sword, but the kobold fighting with him jumps to the side dexterously and the sword misses its mark.

Adel searches for a ledge to climb onto where he can gain leverage, but only finds a ledge above the door of the barracks behind the party. The ledge is up above the door and would be useless for his intentions, but he manages to climb the stone wall to gain a bit of height, throwing his spear when he's over the heads of his friends. Adel's spear soars right into the last leader's body, knocking him to the cave floor, motionless and completely dead.

Coppish makes a quick count of 4 remaining kobolds and sends two arrows flying out to the two in the back.
To Hit [1d20+3] = 6+3 = 9; Dmg [1d6] = 2
To Hit [1d20+3] = 2+3 = 5; Dmg [1d6] = 5
Both arrows miss the kobolds as the little dog men jerk aside.

Gwydion swings his melee weapon, aiming for the kobold's throat.
To Hit [1d20+1] = 15+1 = 16; Dmg [1d8+2] = 7+2 = 9
The kobold's head is sliced clean off, leaving three kobold elite guards to deal with.

One kobold steps over the bodies of his friends to attack Gwydion while the kobold next to him attacks Sammy.
To Hit [1d20] = 2; Dmg [1d6] = 6 Gwydion is missed.
To Hit [1d20] = 1; Dmg [1d6] = 2 Sammy is missed.

The third and last kobold in the back squeezes in and takes a swing at Gwydion, doing a tremendous amount of damage!
To Hit [1d20] = 20; Dmg [1d6] = 3 Gwydion: -6 HP

It is at that precise moment that the barrel that has bowled over the kobolds a few moments ago finally catches fire from the trail of flaming oil that Freddie ignited with a missed arrow. The barrel explodes with a loud bang that stuns everyone in the hallway and the three remaining kobolds left fighting fall over onto Sammy and Gwydion, their skin burnt and charred. Two of the kobolds have died from their burns, but one slumps into Sammy's arms with barely any life left in him.

The two defected kobolds are screaming for the party to kill the mostly dead creature, calling him an evil traitor to kobold kind. When the party come to their senses after the explosion, the notice that there are no opponents left to fight. The hall leads westward into two rooms, south and north, both well enough lit with torches on the walls and seemingly empty, save for some chairs arranged around the room that the kobolds had been sitting in prior to the battle.

Gwennethel, Elf Druid

Gwennethel congratulates everyone who went into the tight hallway to fight the Kobolds on what a good job they did and adding: there for awhile I thought you were all toast". She sheaths her short swords and asks the others, suppose we let our two Kobold partners finish off this "mostly dying" one? When they are done I would like to find a way to open that locked door in the north hallway coming off of this one. I find it very interesting that it is a room the Kobolds never went into".

Gwennethel decides a bite of chocolate in her backpack would be a perfect ending to all the trauma and sits down outside the door for a short snack.

Adel retrieves his spear from the dead kobold and wipes the gore off on its garments. He kneels briefly, says a quick prayer to Enki for his accuracy this day.

"The trap door interests me too, barrister, but while we're here why not probe the mysteries of this lock? Of course, I'm not skilled in the dark art of lock smithing so I'll continue my search for hidden doors in the south room."

Yes. The trap door! But that's almost back to the entrance of the cave. If we finish off this wing first then we could go to the trap door next, on our way out. But wait!! Gwydion is hurt! We better get him fixed up before Freddie faints.

Biblo, scribe

Looking at the carnage, Biblo takes out his quill and dips it in kobold blood. He writes a message on the wall: "Let these deaths serve as a warning to all future monsters. Those who attack humans will be hunted down and killed."

"Who knows what may come to occupy these caves in the future?" says Biblo. "Perhaps they'll think twice."

Trendt after retrieving his hammer locates Gwydion and casts cure light wounds. "Sorry Gwyd I get into me dwarven battle rage at times and forget I'm a healer too."
