Hello World

#1 Post by Q.Q Elf »

Hello!

I am getting back into the RPG thing again, and I figured I need to find a place that does PbP with things that I like.

What do I like? Pretty much, my RPG universe is: "3:16 Carnage Amongst the Stars" and Luke Crane's "Burning X", plus the variants (Mouse Guard, Torchbearer). I'm here (instead of there, wherever there is) because I saw someone advertise for Torchbearer players here. Really liking Torchbearer so far (still reading through it).

Other than pen & paper stuff, I play a number of computer games. I'm married with 2 kids. I like on the Left Coast, originally from Flyoverland.

Anyway, I'll be keeping an eye out for games to play, and if I get real antsy, I'll start up a 3:16 game at some point.

Hey Q.Q dig the avatar! Welcome to the forums. We started a pretty much OSR D&D kinda PbP forum, but OH how we've branched out! ;)
Good to have you here! A Torchbearer game (at least one) has just started up. You may be able to slip in there. But if you wanted to start a game, that's fine too. One thing about the folks here we are all pretty supportive. If you have a question or need, let us know and somebody will easily resolve it. :)

Oh, and it used to be mainly me doing the advertising on other forums, but there's a few of us in the marketing department right now. Glad you saw something that brought you this way!

Be welcome and hope you get in a game soon!

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Hey Elf, I'm currently running a TB game on here and would be happy to drop you in the next time the party takes a trip back to town or if they manage a Camp Phase where they come out of it without any conditions. I apologize that it's not an instant thing--just don't want to throw the mechanisms off-kilter accidentally, as I've never dropped a new character into the middle of an adventure phase before so don't know exactly what the unexpected consequences might be.

Thanks all for the welcome! Finally got my account info all squared away, so I'll be reading a lot about what you all are doing long before I get a game of my own started.

(The avatar pic is from the game Starbound, btw.)

Cool, no worries. I am still absorbing the rulebook. While I am familiar with Mouse Guard (and the Burning Wheel), Torchbearer is its own beast, with its own style of doing things.

I'll keep an eye out for opportunities if you send messages my way.

Down the road I'll start my own Torchbearer game because I'm very committed to the Burning Wheel style of game. I love the Belief/Instinct/Goal system, and I am a 100% believer in pushing those aspects of player characters.

Any game I run would most likely be a "conversion" from D&D if only to cut down what I have to think about, and focus more on running the rules the right way.

"Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh" would probably work best (I have U1-U3 somewhere in my pile of stuff), although I have the odd idea of doing at least part of Paizo's "Rise of the Runelords" (even if it's not a "classic").
