Re: [Interest check] Traveler?
never played it and i know virtually nothing about it. I'd be willing to give it a try even if i would be a total newbie.

Re: [Interest check] Traveler?
I am interested in this. I haven't played Traveller since high school in the late '80's.
Re: [Interest check] Traveler?
ybn, would you be interested in GMing or mainly in playing?
Re: [Interest check] Traveler?
In playing. I'm already running two games here and one on another board. I would not be able to do it justice with my focus split like that.

Re: [Interest check] Traveler?
I'm entirely for playing not DM/GMing

I figured, since you're not familiar with the system greywolf

Re: [Interest check] Traveler?
you never know sometimes people want to try something new and they offer to run the game so long as the players don't mind the bumbling along until everyone grasps the system.

Re: [Interest check] Traveler?
I have never played this system and don't own it; but I remember glancing through it once upon a time and being somewhat interested; though a bit intimidated by the hard-science aspect (I am decidedly NOT very scientific in thought!
)......with these limitations; would you say it's fine to still jump in as a player or not to bother?
Also; due to my work and 4 year old; my posting rate is probably limited to 2-3 times a week; max; is this too little for what you're looking for?
Thanks!

Re: [Interest check] Traveler?
Hi Max:
If I were running it, I would say none of this would be a problem (I've never run it before but would be willing if there's no one else available, and am not looking to stress anyone out with expectations in any game). Let's see if there's anyone who jumps in with experience and/or a desire to run it! Otherwise once we get, say, four players I'll be happy to get the ball rolling.

Re: [Interest check] Traveler?
YES! I last played back in the early 80's and would like to do it again. Just so long as you do not add dwarves, halflings and elves in the campaign.

Re: [Interest check] Traveler?
Well that looks like four players to me--Hemlocks, I assume you'd prefer to play rather than GM as well?
Also, does anyone have a preferred edition? Personally I would prefer earlier or Mongoose, but if someone has a beloved edition I don't want to go against that!

Re: [Interest check] Traveler?
I'll check around in one or two spots I know and see if I can scare y'all up a GM.
Might get lucky!

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Re: [Interest check] Traveler?
Personally, I would prefer Classic Traveller (CT). My first exposure and only version played was the boxed CT set with the three books and Book 0: Introduction.

The original box set is free as a PDF on the interwebs. Free Trader Beowulf style.
Edit - I am sorry that was a limited time offer. Ugh

Re: [Interest check] Traveler?
If you decide to run Classic Traveller, I'd like to play. I'm already running two games, so don't have time to run another myself. Thanks!

Never played but always wanted to. Count me in if there is room.
Re: [Interest check] Traveler?
Dang, looks like there's enough interest for a solid crew right here already...Let me see what I can manage and I'll post again when things have firmed up.
Sounds like the majority opinion is that CT is the way to go. Heard loud and clear.

Re: [Interest check] Traveler?
I believe I have all the core stuff for CT sitting around--I will do my best to put together a "So You Want To Play Traveler?" file to give folks what they'd need to navigate the game on a basic level before they decide whether they want to spring for their own copy of the rules. I can also do character generation 1-on-1 in PMs. Give me a couple days and I will try to get my ducks in a row!
