Up to you whether to risk your hides or not. Tub already voted, come back up. :)
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Well lads and laddies, what be the vote??

Cil & Vik or the entire party take a chance on descending the stairs to see what's below and risk a fall or becoming trapped down there forever & ever? (Vik votes no way, btw! :) )

- or -

The others help Cil & Vik back up and we travel back to the nearest town to buy a sh*tload of rope??

If you don't want to do it, then there is no discussion. We go back.

We got to got there anyway. I'd rather concern how may torches we got left... None of us can climb that good even with a rope... Os has no torches but can try to cast a light spell on a few stones...

*bump*

Can anyone go back and grab enough of a length of rope to get Cil & Vik off the stairs?

... you know, where they're trapped and unable to rejoin the party for a supply run back to town for a bleepload of more rope?? :)

We've got two lengths of 50' rope, but we used them to get here.
I believe I stipulated taking the rope with me this time though. If the DM agrees then...

I believe you took 1 length of 50'.

the other still has to be dangling down the hole you came down and I presume you plan to use to go back up.

Hmmm... Would that be enough to get us to the bottom? ;)

I really don't relish taking two weeks travel time/random encounters to leave and come back. And I'd rather call the temple fully explored, if there is a chance to do so...

rredmond wrote: The spiral staircase isn't enclosed, is it? If not, when I spiral back up, can I look down and see Cil and Vik? If so, we can just drop a rope from the top of the stairs to them, otherwise 50' should be enough to spiral around and still reach across the gap to them.
.
Brilliant, Ron!

But how about this slight modification...

Tub ties the rope off just above the break in the stairs. Cilian and Vik climb down to the next loop in the stairs and the rest of the party joins them THERE. ;)

That's pretty good. It'll hurt Tub to leave his last bit o' rope though.
But that there is sorely tempting. There's gotta be good loot at the bottom... there's just gotta!

correct the staircase is not enclosed and does spiral around the walls. If the rope is spiked off then it could be used to climb down past the stairbreak and back onto the stairs.
