Aquar calls upon his Immortal patron, asking Aquar for the ability to sense ill intent, but the neanderthals appear to be on the level.
Is the intention to leave now, in the middle of the night, or wait until morning?

Yarthmont 25, AC 1000

Daylight comes, and the proto-men grow increasingly anxious. "Ook, ook," they say, tugging on shirtsleeves and cloaks in an attempt to convey urgency. Camp is soon broken, the adventurers' mounts secured* and they head off after the urgently beckoning ur-humans. The companions are led through thick underbrush to the ridge of a large hill. Hand gestures and hooting suggests that they are perhaps halfway to the neanderthals camp, when Severi's keen elven eyes pick out a half-dozen or so large shapes clustered around a boulder and gesticulating wildly. The ogres are perhaps score of paces away, and do not seem to yet notice the party.

Severi Silvertongue, Elf

Severi immediately begins casting Sleep at the ogres.
I think that for Ogres you might have to cast it in single-target mode? Anyway, if need be, that's what he's doing. He's probably going to cast it again on the second round, because fighting Ogres kind of sucks. Just in case you decide to run multiple rounds at once.

Mursley will also employ his 2 sleep spells in a similar fashion to Severi

Rhys the Traveler

Rhys slips into the thick underbrush and attempts to flank the ogres by circling around to one side. After the casters have attempted to put some of them to sleep, Rhys will approach the largest one and strike it from behind with his sword.

Surprise Round

Severi and Mursley act quickly, both casting spells of somnolence at the ogres. The beasts are massive enough that only one is affected per spell; Aquar calls upon his patron to freeze the ogres' blood and root them to the very earth. He is unfortunately unable to target individual ogres, so only two of the remaining ogres are paralyzed. Thurgan looses a bolt that pierces an ogre's flank; seconds later Rhys slips out from the brush and drives his magical blade through the ogre's side.

Round One

Acting quickly, Severi casts another Sleep spell that incapacitates the remaining ogre. All know that ogres are by nature avaricious creatures, and a search of their bodies reveals a total of 340 gold coins amongst them.
Let me know if you guys dispatch the sleeping/held ogres.

Severi Silvertongue, Elf

"If any speak the tongue of ogres, then it may be worth preserving the life of one. We might be able to compel it to take us to its lair, if there is one about. If none of us can muddle through their vulgar argot, though, then we may as well kill them all out of hand."

Severi, equally affected by aurum's aura of avarice, piles the gold up to glitter in a sunny spot for later counting.
Maybe our magic user could stash that in his saddle-bags?

Rhys the Traveler

"I have no knowledge of the ogre tongue. Doubt they'd give up anything, anyway."

Rhys then drives his sword through an eye and into the brain of one of the sleeping ogres.

If nobody can talk Ogre, let's just kill them and see if we can track them.

Damn, we need to get a Tongues spell or a magic item that lets us do the same.

Again, just because we can speak their language, doesn't mean they'll talk to us. Or that we can believe anything they say.
