The Ferryman Awaits!
The party presses forward and makes 9 hours of good progress. The party encounters no travelers.
There are more than 2 hours of light remaining.
About 1/2 mile from the river, the woods become more dense and trees become larger.
Calen's wolf discovers fresh horse dung and rolls over in it.
This catches the ranger's attention.
Montego again spots Orc tracks, mixed with some horse tracks. The tracks and dung are fresher -- from last night or this morning. The tracks move from south, to north, then back south again -- this time fewer individuals -- perhaps 5 to 7, or so.
The river and ferry can be seen in the distance.

Let us go negotiate with ferryman to take us across the water. I assume horses and wagon would be able to cross with the ferry.

Wolf's name shall be Freki
Calen, thinking that Garrett and Svent have the ferryman under control, looks out at the surrounding area. He does not voice it but wonders if Freki will be able to go on the ferry... or even want to.

Does Motego know this ferry guy or has he ever heard of him? This is his old stomping grounds as they say.
If not, he remains quiet and watches all around the surrounding area for signs of possible enemies.

The Ferrymen
The Ferrymen are Half Orcs. They introduce themselves as Gog and Magog.
The ferry is about 20X35. A massive rope stretches across the river. The river is about 220 feet wide, cold and slow. Magog pulls the rope while Gog pushes with a 25 foot long pole. A 3rd individual is positioned on the opposite shore near where the big rope is secured.
Gog

Magog

There is almost 2 hours of sun left when the party meets the ferrymen. The sun is well headed toward the western horizon, darkening the woods. See Spoiler
Gog, in broken common: Hello! Yes, horse and dog are good. One gold for horse, you have 1,2,3 . . . you have 13 horse and wagon with mule -- two mule. 15 gold! And 10 silver for person, you have 1,2,3, . . . you have 9 person -- so, total, 19 gold 10 silver! Dog goes free. Dog looks like wolf.
We make 3 trip. Divide horse in two group, and wagon, one , two , three trip. Ok? We make 3 trip!
So, you make load. People go on any load.
Load-up trip number one. We go!
The River Bends East, near the darkened forest.

Calen steps forward with Freki, he carries a small bag of gold in his hand. "Haggling? Not necessary, let's pay and go."
Apparently Calen doesn't care about getting a good price!

Ok, we take 15 gold. We make group-rate. Guys ride back and forth, that ok. We worry make wagon and horse safe -- so we make 3 load.
Load up for trip one. Six or seven horse or wagon and any people. We go!
Ok, Garrett. Load the ferry for the 1st trip. 6 or 7 horses in separate loads and the wagon in another. People in any arrangement.

Calens steps forward, handing his share of the gold for himself and a few of the horses. "Lets get the wagon on first, horses will be easier. I will go on the first trip as well."

Titus doesn't much care which trip he crosses with so long as the wagon and horses are not left unguarded.

Re: Queen Regeina's Ethical Philosophers Depart.
Calen, Garrett, Baruch, & Fredricus as well as at least 2 horses for the two getting off the ferry. so if this works say 4 horses so that Fredricus and Calen can hold one and ride the other oh and Frecki can go too.
