Sanu regains his wits after swigging some water and pouring some over his head for a second.

As the other members of the party debate what to do and where to go, Sanu spots a hefty 80lb, 5ft log off in the distance about 100 ft. Very business-like, he walks over to the log and power cleans it up over his left shoulder, walks back to where the prisoners are there kneeling, and throws the log down in front of them.

He points at each one down the line and says with volume: Treason! Treason! Treason! Treason! Treason! We catch the enemy in Regenia's land, in Regenia's clothes. The enemy and butcher of my tribe, the Teutonic! The sun has set on these (spit) men. As son of Sandus of the High Teutonic council, and protector of Tessera, I doom these men to death by the black blade! Speak your last words fast! This day grows long!

Sanu grabs the first prisoner by the back of the neck, slams him down to the log, and executes him with a mercifully clean hack. He follows it up with three more of the same for all but the man in civilian clothes. To him, Sanu says: I will not torture you, but I do not know if we are done with you yet. He makes sure the man is good and bound, and slumps him over a horse like a rolled up rug.

To the party: My friends, this day grows very old. We should not send the women out at this time. We need to camp near here. If we move on, we will not make it far past the intersection. Such intersections at night see much action. We want no more action today.

Svent "Well we had sent them off at a good time then they were brought back. I suspect now with your barbarian demonstration they likely are afraid of us and have taken off like a bolt. However yes the time to camp or move on is upon us I care not either way so long as I can find time to study my spells."

How much time do we feel like wasting every time we capture some enemies of state? We have to be fast to save our kingdom. We are in a race. You don't leave poisonous enemies in the heart of your shrinking lands to become free again and carve you inside out. This is war. I think the women know who saved them, Sir Svent. I speak my mind. Now I yield to Sir Garret.

Sorry. Edited to address Svent.

Calen looks back at the others, "...... What? We have made little progress today and now you want to camp?" The rest of the group can almost feel the impatience at the lack of discipline towards the mission they were given coming off of Calen as if he were emanating an aura.

Baruch (somewhat delayed reply) to Sanu: "My duty - and my pleasure. Perhaps you'll save my skin in return one day!"

To the others: "let's leave this calamitous crossroad as soon as we can"

Svent "Calen I was not stating that at all, I'd wish to keep moving." to show how much he wants to move on he starts to slowly move his horse in a walk.

Garrett wounded by the hasty verbal assault to him and the arrow from earlier "I've been ready to move on Calen, I'm ready when everyone else is." he stars to move his horse slowly too.

The party has progressed 12 miles. The encounter occurred near sundown. The party has 2 women and an infant in company. After 3 more miles the party would receive movement and fatigue penalties while being in the dark and at a cross road.

Camping and sending the women and infant off in the morning is recommended.

Remember, Sanu is an NPC "plant". If he ever has an opinion, it will be for a good reason. He won't have many opinions either. So, it will be easy to tell.

So, unless there are strong objections I'll tuck everyone in, and get the show on the road, as they say.

noted, Calen would rather break for those three miles and then stop, if he were alone he would probably just keep going until he could no longer keep going. If everyone chooses to stop then he will listen, he may be goal oriented but he isn't stupid.

Duly noted: But I'd rather move up the road a mile away from this mess the NPC made and camp there.

cool, I recommend you keep the women and baby with you then make em back track.

You would arrive at or near a cross road in this scenario.

This perhaps is a compromise, and a good idea.

Titus will tie their remaining prisoner to the back of the wagon. "Sanu. If he tries to get away. Kill him."

Rancher Philosophers Camp.
Montego Almost Scores

The party moves another mile up the road and establishes camp. The women and infant come to camp in the safety of the adventurers.

There are 17 horses and 2 mules in this camp, so the women help Milli care for the growing herd.

Less than a half of an hour into establishing camp, a lone wolf walks into the middle of the party, headed for Calen.
Image

It is a thin and long animal with stilts for legs. It has piercing blue eyes. The wolf sits next to Calen, acting very much like a domestic dog. It licks the back of his hand.
Calen's Dog
16 hp, ac 7, move 18, attack 1/1, damage 1d4+1.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From experience with death comes the human lust for life. This psychological quark almost worked for the ranger.

Livia discretely got up and got into Montego's bed roll. But as soon as she was prone, she fell into a deep sleep. Killing your first man is exhausting.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the 8th and final hour of the watch, Calen's wolf allerts the party. There is something in the brush near the horses. The sun is coming up.

ACTIONS!!!!!

Garrett, please give me the order of watch -- which I'll record.

Also, spell casters, I assume you maintain spells on character sheets. I'll refer to character sheets for memorized spells after spending a night.

Calen has a wolf now?! oh jeez Diz... I freakin love wolves....

adding Wolf to Calens notes as companion

As the wolf alerts the party Calen wields his Halberd and looks in the direction of the thing near the horses, he will not go into the brush to engage yet. "Something is out there. Get ready to move out." He acts as standing guard for whatever is out there while the others pack up, if the thing reveals itself and attacks he will engage it.

As an after thought, "Horses will slow us down, better to just leave the ones we don't need. If anyone has a better idea say it."

Jealousy aside.... not sure if this is on watch 2 or 3 that this all happens.....

Garrett will ready his new long bow and try and look where the wolf is sensing the approaching whatever(s)
