With a low growl Zaki is rather firmly propelled back towards her duties as Sigrún gutturally orders "Let's square the cargo deck away! We have another factor due to visit and he's a Sword Worlder. Have some ale ready to offer him".

Zaki takes a step to recover her balance, and then she whirls in place and steps up to Sigrun. "We need to talk. My quarters. Now, please." Her voice is conversational, almost pleasant, and her face is devoid of emotion. Her eyes tell an entirely different story, fixing Sigrun like violet laser emitters.

Donovan watched the interaction silently. Both of the women were more than capable of handling things without him getting involved and likely bitten badly.

I have a dangerous factor coming in the next 10 or 20 minutes. We need to put on a Sword World show which won't happen if you two are locked together in the armory." He shrugged and quirked his lips slightly. "Besides, I would not consider the armory neutral ground. Use my state room if you must but for now duty calls without pity, patience or remorse." This last is said in a low, calm but deadly voice.

Zaki holds Sigrun's eyes for a moment longer, and then her nostrils flare as she draws in a breath. She looks at Donovan, and nods once. "Yes. Duty calls. Until then, I have supplies to request from groundside." She turns on her heel and walks to her station in the common area, where she sits down and pulls up the ship's supply list on her HUD.

Back at the dawn of time, there were things found by the player that was the original captain before he mysteriously vanished. It was a mystery, but so is all this stuff! I went back looking for what initial funds we might have had (and found some!) but there is a lot of other stuff that probably needs to be looked at.

Carlos opens the safe and gets distracted for a few minutes! The first thing he sees inside is a stack of credit notes, a pretty large stack! A careful count and he is looking at Cr43847 in various denominations of Imperial notes.

Going back to the safe he also finds 3 large manila-style envelopes inside.

The first envelope has Aden Contacts scrawled on the outside and inside are a few pages containing names and addresses for Brokers, Bankers, Manufacturers, Officials and Others on Aden along with notes on who has good deals, who to avoid, who is open to bribes and so on.

The second envelope is much thicker and has Imperial Contacts scrawled on it and contains the same sort of thing the other had, only on several Imperial systems. (OOC: As you visit systems you/I can roll to see if there is anything on that system in these notes)

The third envelope is flatter than the other two. Looking inside you find a schematic for this ship's deckplan. There appear to be a couple of discrepancies that show empty spaces where solid bulkheads or pieces of the fuel tanks would be. Needs checking against the actual physical locations.

Feeling around in the back of the safe, Carlos first feels three more items:

The first he pulls forward is a small wallet with 3 Memory Sticks inside. There is no writing on the sticks indicating what data they might contain.

The second is a small Body Pistol. This is 5 round Automatic and has a full magazine inserted. This weapon looks advanced, made from plastics and composites, it will fool any detectors right up to TL 10 and has a good chance at passing 11 or 12.

The final item is the case for the Body Pistol with a spare magazine and a small box containing 32 loose rounds for the body pistol.

After going through all this, Carlos checks the closet and finds it empty. Nothing in the desk drawers, although one seems to stick a little when he pushes it back in.

Carlos thinks he should take a look in the Captain's Cabin. He hasn't been in there and there could be things there that could be useful. If nothing else he can store the folder with all the ship's papers and such there. When he looks around he finds a few things...

In the drawer of the desk in the room he finds a written journal and what appears to be a ledger...but it appears to have been written in some sort of code.

A stunner is tucked into a hidden pocket in the a wall behind the head of the bed.

There is a safe hidden behind a framed photograph of the ship. The safe is built into the bulkhead and has a combination lock. Carlos recalls that there is what looks like a combination on a piece of paper in the folder he was given while over picking up the paper work for the ship.

Checking the drawer Carlos finds a wadded up piece of paper taped to the bottom of that drawer. There is a 5 digit number written on it, no idea what it means.

OOC: BTW, remember the ledger was written in some sort of code.

Þeir hafa verið að veiða okkur mikið síðan Wardn - við finnum öll hversu mikið þeir hata okkur. Það er mikil pressa ég veit - en sem Kapitan verð ég að setja viðmiðið. Then, with a start, she asks "What? Sorry, I missed that... What did you say?"

You addressed me as a lieutenant to take charge of the ship. Then you referred to me as Kriechbaum and spoke all of that time Sagamal. Something about being hard on Þorvaldsson. Then it was about pressure and burden and heading back to fight. That was after snapping at Zaki and my dressing you down when we have our duty to perform." He stepped closer and lowered his voice. "I know you have a sharing with Zaki but let me help in another way. Share with your sword brother over ale and the hearth fire. I make no plot or judgment as we have shed blood together."

She slowly lets out a breath and presses he heel of her hand to her eye "Kriechbaum is dead - killed in the last days of the war. He was my Quartermaster and Navigator - like you he was a good man. I... drifted... I was back on the bridge of the Gungnir. The Imperials were giving my raiding wolves their hatred hard after Silver - which they call Wardn. They nearly had us beaten and we knew it - but I wouldn't stop. Þorvaldsson disagreed and then he argued - but I was Kapiten. Worse back then I was fully úlfheðnar - less human. I lived inside other names Ís... Helsdottir... worse...".

"Skitr! Whatever I said to Zaki wouldn't have been either kind or likely even filtered - I don't think I did either back then...". She sighs "I'll take ale with you tonight. After an encounter with my younger self Zaki likely won't want to see me again. When you see her will you tell her...". She violently kicks a nearby crate "Zhodani bastards!" meeting Donovan's gaze she growls "Tell her... Tell her she did well in avoiding a dangerous criminal!"

She snarls suppressed rage and kicks the crate again "Sorðinn! I'll go and tell her myself - she at least deserves that much!"

Sigrún makes her way to the armoury/common area.

Zaki has one of the cabinets open, and she looks past the door as Sigrun comes in. A faint tracework of fine lines rolls across her HUD, and then they disappear. The slim blonde regards Sigrun, waiting for her to speak first with a neutral expression on her face.

She speaks with her cheek still pressing against Sigrun's upper chest. "It's okay, Sigrun. I'm so sorry that I didn't see your behavior for what it was. I heard a little of what Donovan was saying, but I was too angry to listen. I'm so sorry."

Donovan listens quietly but intently to Sigrun. "I will share ale and the fire with you anytime." He is just silent as she asks him to talk to Zaki and then changes her mind. Donovan watches her go, not trying to stop her this time. "I look to the mountains; where will my help come from? Godspeed…" He whispered.
