Quest #10 "Beetle Juice?"
Seeking Beetle Juice
Earthday, The 25th of Reaping
Early Morning, Hot, Muggy, Buggy
Chauncey would like his group to accompany him back to the western beach trail in the morning to see if some acid can be harvested from the dangerous giant beetles rumored to inhabit that area. He thinks the acid will help with the disposing of the sea troll.
The morning skies on this day are cloudy and the usual humidity level seems even higher than normal, indicating that the clouds could produce some rain today.
Go ahead with the continuation of plan making and group assembling.

Jack, lost boy:
Giant, acid-pooping bugs! (Not to mention magical portals, mysterious obelisks and the Grey Man!)
Count Jack in!

Disposal of the water Troll is foremost on his mind, along with the Monkoons. It makes good Hobbit sense to employ one dreadful island menace to combat another. The bugs themselves will be challenge enough, tho.

Re: Quets # 10 "Beetle Juice?"
Saracen is more than happy to go with the group, to the acid beetle area once more, without the children
In tow. (Beyond Jack of course)
He will bring along his two handed sword and leave his flail behind.

The ranger joins the others, looking surprisingly well-rested. As soon as we're all assembled, we can go.

Alordan brings his ropes and hooks to gathering should they be needed.
Re: Quets # 10 "Beetle Juice?"
Monocar
Lumbers up the shoreline with a smile on his face. "who's ready to look for some bugs?"
To Alordan. "Need some help with those?"

Avaala
Avaala and an armored Rollo walk up, both of them chewing the last bite of their breakfast. "I must be out of my mind. But we're here to help. Can't just take the easy ones, I suppose." He bumps Rollo with his knee, "But at least we slept in our own place last night, right? Moving up!"

Awright, I think we're ready. Keep your eyes open, folks.
Luther takes the lead, heading down the beach at a steady pace. His eyes constantly move from the waterline to the trees to the beach, trying to anticipate any possible threats. He carries his bow in hand, an arrow nocked and ready.

Seeking Beetle Juice
Earthday, The 25th of Reaping
Early Morning, Hot, Muggy, Buggy
The eager group rises with the sun and gets ready to head out towards the west for a closer look at these supposed acid shooting beetles. Avaala and Rollo show up as well, despite his initial concerns about being melted down into a puddle of mush. Raythan and Chauncey have yet to show themselves, likely scouring the last pages of their spell book or some such similar delay.
Luther quickly grows tired of wasting precious daylight. He and Jack take the lead spots again as he assembles the others in their specific order. He will wait for Chauncey a little longer, since it was his idea in the first place to try to harvest this creatures acid to use against the sea troll. Alordan shows up with his metal hooks and strands of heavy rope. Monocar offers to help carry the load as the entire group readies to depart.
The weather is still clear for the most part, but there is a light haze from the low lying clouds that fogs over your ability to see really far up the beach this early in the morning.
Actions?
I will wait a little longer for the others to verify that they will be accompanying the party. Go ahead and RP any plans or precautions you might want to implement before departing Beachtown. Thanks!
Luther R2 20/20
Jack 10/10 CL, DM, RM, 1/1 first
Monocar F2 21/21
Lightfinger T2 10/10
Saracen 12/12 3/3 first
Avaala 5/5 CL, DM, RM, 1/1 first
Alordan 10/10

Avaala
Realizing his own physical limits, Avaala takes a spot with Rollo near the center of the marching order. "Fortunately, most of my magic works whether I have a clear line of sight or not. As long as I can see the enemy, I can usually get them."

Monocar
The big man knew he was neither the smartest or the stealthiest of their group. Heck, he knew he was far from the most perceptive, too. Tactically speaking, he was just backup for an emergency, and he was fine with that. He fell back towards the rear, just behind Avaala and his super cool dog. He began sharing what he had learned from Mr. Nerhu that morning about the history of the settlement and the early conflicts between citizens and the Treefolk. He'll also work in his ideas for a lumbermill and Mr. N's general aproval of the idea.

Lightfinger listens.
You and I, we are of the same mind, I believe, Man-Mountain Monocle, The tall Hobbit agrees, The treefolk have done nothing wrong, really, not compared with what a Human might do if his town is invaded. That's what we were told, yes? The settlement here was unknowingly built in the middle of the Monkoons' main center.

Avaala
"I'm not a bit surprised about Mr. Nehru wanting this. If it's good for the island, it's good for him, too." Avaala frowns just a bit. "Now comes the hard part. The waiting. Unless there is some small amount of magic involved, it's a long way to Geoff, and a long way back." He shrugs, "Ah well, it can't be helped, and it will be worth it in the end..... partner." He finishes with a wink.

Re: Quets # 10 "Beetle Juice?"
Saracen listens carefully to the mountains story, suspecting something of that nature had occurred from the brief discussions with the monkoons. He will take whatever position the others think is fair in the line up. He doesn't believe it wise to have your healers up front but will take that position if the group feels it's wisest. Unusually quiet this morning, the holy champion walks through the mist almost sullenly. We should wait for the Druid he thinks shaking his head, a bad feeling of forebodeing settling over him.

Seeking Beetle Juice
Earthday, The 25th of Reaping
Mid Morning, Hot, Muggy, Buggy
The group readies to depart up the beach to the west at the crack of dawn. They share some vital information with each other, making plans and proclaiming partnerships as they begin to head out. Chauncey rushes towards the party at the last second, huffing and puffing as he lifts his robes and runs to catch up with them.
Despite the haze, this morning starts out far less hot and humid, making today’s jaunt slightly more comfortable than yesterdays. The trip across the sand would be almost pleasant if it weren’t for the swarms of insects violating every crack, joint, and orifice of any exposed body parts.
Luther and Jack retain their lead positions while Monocar moves back by his new partner. Jack skips along the sand for the first leg of the journey, eventually becoming more serious after watching Luther’s movements for a while.
Again, the trip takes a few hours, but the time goes by without any confrontations from the islands many dangerous denizens. When the group finally reaches its destination at the westernmost end of the beach, they spot two things off in the distance. One is the dark trail leading into the jungle, the same one that the battered party from yesterday told you about being attacked by the acid shooting beetle. The second thing that they notice is that there are a few dark shapes swimming around in the shallows of the sea right off the beach. The figures are about 4 or 5 feet in diameter with flaps or wings that they use to slowly glide themselves along the bottom of the shallow sea floor. Rollo begins to growl slightly as the figures swim around in circular patterns just off the sand.
