The adventure begins...

Zin - Magic User
"Hmmm. I'm unable to cause the slumber of these beasts by my sorcery, but I'm willing to assist in the recovery of the treasures if we can subdue them with smoke."

Re: The adventure begins...
Lavex cracks a grin at Lin and replies with; "I'm pretty sure EVERYONE in the party is willing to do the same, wizard." Nodding at Peader's response; he follows up with; "Indeed; let's see if we can't get the smoke to work; certainly it's worth a try I'd say."
Re: The adventure begins...
"Alright," Peadar nods.
Once a path is cleared to the door, he drags the mattress close to it, then goes back for any blankets that might have been on the bed. He adds the old robe material to the top of the pile, as well.
Then he opens his water skin and sprinkles it liberally on top of the cloth and mattress. If he feels it necessary, he'll ask someone else to do the same.
Then he'll have someone open the door, shove the mattress through the door, then set a torch to the side of it just enough to get some of the straw smoldering. Once he sees a nice amount of smoke coming out of the mattress, he'll shove it the rest of the way in and close the door. And then wait.

Lindon Silverheart
"Guys, weren't there pots of black oil back in the ladder room? We could pour some of that gunk on these mattresses and light them up."

Re: The adventure begins...
Brax says "Good idea Lindon! Who'll come with me to get some?"
Re: The adventure begins...
"Yeah, you're right, Lindon. Good thinking! I'll go with you, Brax," Peadar adds.

Re: The adventure begins...
The three kindreds will get some oil, while the rest watch and wait
Re: The adventure begins...
As the trio is preparing to journey back to the ladder room, the lone lantern begins to flicker, a sure sign it is running out of oil. Taking a extra moment to refill the lantern before taking off.
1. who is going to fill the lantern
2. Which group is keeping the lantern and what is the other group going to use for light?

Re: The adventure begins...
It looks like several people have torches. Peadar is not one of them.

Re: The adventure begins...
When Jofrid sees the lantern flickering he takes two torches out of his backpack and offers one to those headed to the ladder room and asks, "Who would like to hold a torch here for us? It will interfere with my crossbow."

Re: The adventure begins...
Lavex will shoulder his shield and take the torch in his off-hand; keeping his mace in the other. "I'll provide the light."

Re: The adventure begins...
Peadar takes the proffered torch and lights it off of the other.
"I'll take this one. Let's go."

Re: The adventure begins...
Sorry for disappearing. Been busy with work and family illness.
The trio of elf, dwarf, and hafling leaves the others and head back to the room with the ladders. The trip goes quickly as the way is know and is uneventful.
The large clay urns are undisturbed, a small amount of thick black oily liquid in the bottom of each.

Re: The adventure begins...
If there is a suitable smaller vessel laying about in the room, then Peadar will transfer the liquid from the different vessels into it. If not, then he will transfer it all into one o the larger urns.
Obviously, with assistance from the others, should the urns be unwieldy.

Lavex does his best to be useful and help out as well....
Re: The adventure begins...
You don't find any other useful containers in the room. Though the jars are large and unwieldy, they are not too heavy to lift. With the three of you working together, you are able to transfer the thick black oil into a single urn. The trip back to the others is slow as you take care not to break the clay urn, but uneventful.
Re: The adventure begins...
Peadar will put a bit of the oil onto a small amount of straw and light it to see if it makes it smoke more.

Re: The adventure begins...
The dry straw catches quickly, and while it still burns fairly hot, the burning oily liquid does produce a fair amount of thick smoke.
