He covers the straw mattress in the oil, then when someone is ready to open the door and quickly close it, he'll nod for someone to light the mattress (near the end going into the room first) and he'll push it into the room. Once the mattress clears the doorway, he'll fall back into the bedroom so the door can be closed.

Then it's time to wait a few minutes before checking to see if it works...

Brax is skeptical, and braces himself for the worst

The burning, oil-soaked mattress is tossed into the room and the door shut. Even through the thick stone door, you can hear the buzzing grow loader and more agitated. Eventually though the noises subside until you can't hear anything through the door.

You open the door a crack to peer inside. Thick black smoke pours through the doorway into he room your in, though for now it stays high up the ceiling. The mattress still smolders, sending more thick black smoke into the air. The air inside the room is filled with the smoke, making it hard to further tan a few feet into the room. Just to the left of the door one of the giant bees hangs motionless on the wall.

Taking one of the rags used for binding wounds, Peadar wets it with water from his waterskin, then secures it around his nose and mouth.

Sliding his backpack off his back and removing the packets of iron rations to make room, he gets low to the floor and slides along the floor towards the center of the room, sword in one hand and backpack in the other, where the jewels were spotted.

Brax emulates Peader, and goes in after him

Jofrid likewise heads toward the center of the room, keeping low and below the smoke.
