Sky

Sky is a bit disappointed in her toss. That's the problem with explosives, only one shot. The giant albino frog forces her to focus on the present.

She pulls her rapier and faces off against her natural prey.

Qelgrax Klilxuac

Seeing plant tendrils creeping around his feet, the sorcerer steps out of the area (directly north of Braford) before again projecting purple bolts of energy, this time targeting Sir Braford with two, Belak with one.

  • 15: Sky
  • 14: Kulket
  • 12: Belak
  • 10: Klilxuac
  • 9: Sharwyn
  • 8: Hargrem
  • 7: Sir Braford
  • 6: Twig Blights
Round 3
The vines begin twisting around Kelben's ankles, constricting and writing, distracting him as he releases the bowstring and causing his arrow to sail wide of Belak.

Sky feels a bit of her disappointment fade as she watches as the alchemist's fire continues to burn, but is forced back into reality as the presence of the giant albino frog eyeing her hungrily. Anticipating the frog's next move, the bard jabs her rapier out in its path as it begins to lunch forward, sinking her blade deep into the frog's knotty hide. Undeterred, the frog lunges at sky again, but the nimble bard is able to avoid its clamping jaws.

Belak, considering his first effort a success, slides his wand up his sleeve. His wand safely stowed, the robed man begins murmuring some divine incantation and points in Sir Braford's direction. A brief flash of blue divine energy outlines the young tree-warrior and you watch as his color and energy begin to return.

Before the area of entanglement is able to take full hold, Klilxuac leaps out of the affected area and lands directly in front of a more restored Sir Braford. He repeats his previous action, projecting a trio of purple bolts of energy, with two targeting the tree-warrior in front of him and the third Belak.

Hargrem, restrained by the writhing plants wrapping themselves around his ankles, call for Tymora to grant him his holy flame and blasts the tree with another dose of fire.

With an utter lack of emotion, Sir Braford brings his longsword about and strikes Klilxuac with such force that his single slice nearly proved to be fatal against the full-health sorcerer.

Sharwyn and the Twig Blights continue their slumber.

Kelben tries to break free from the entangling roots. Heading back Northeast the way the adventurers came in from.

Save Rolls [1d20] = 15

I am not entirely sure how to use my bonus action but i was shooting to dash back Northeast and sort of circle to the northwest i just don't recall if there was a passage north of my current position that leads towards the northwest.

Qelgrax Klilxuac

Realizing he is in a lot of trouble if he remains near Braford, the dragonborn decides to employ the tried and true "He who turns and runs away, lives to fight another day" technique. Disengaging from combat, he withdraws, heading northeast around the ruins of the tower.

Sky

Sky winces as she sees the dragonborn take a huge hit. The loud croak of the frog forces her to focus on the present.
She floats side to side like a butterfly and stabs out with her rapier. She calls out words of encouragement to Hargrem, hoping to help him free himself. "It's just grass, man! Step over it!"

Sky uses Bardic inspiration on Hargrem, giving him a bonus d6 to use for any one attack/damage/saving roll. It can be used after the roll.

Hargrem, too, witnessed the blow that the sorcerer took from the wicked looking knight. Again, he tried his best to burn down the tree and then sent healing energy towards the dragonborn hoping for him to get some relief.
None:
Action: Cast Sacred Flame: [1d8] = 6
Bonus Action: Cast Healing Word on Klilxuac: [1d4+3] = 4+3 = 7

  • 12: Belak
  • 10: Klilxuac
  • 9: Sharwyn
  • 8: Hargrem
  • 7: Sir Braford
  • 6: Twig Blights
Round 4
Kelben wrestles free from his planty binds and forcefully navigates out of the affected area. The gnome circles around the tower denoting the northeast corner of the sunken structure. The rogue sneaks into place behind a briar, preparing to offer ranged support to Klilxuac.

Sky winces as she sees the dragonborn take a huge hit, but the loud croak of the frog forces her to focus on the present. Shifting from side-to-side, biding her time, she jabs out at the giant frog when her window presents itself and pushes as the tip of her rapier finds purchase with the creature's neck. It croaks -- in pain, and almost literally as it seems very weakened after the blow. Seeing the cleric still stuck in the web of entanglement, Sky calls out words of encouragement to Hargrem, hoping to help him free himself. "It's just grass, man! Step over it!" Her alchemist's fire continues to burn.

After taking another rapier jab, the frog, Kulket, leaps high over Sky's head and lands directly behind her, clamping its powerful jaws down on the bard's thigh, sinking its teeth through her fur and into her flesh! (-12)

"There's still a chance, fools!" Belak bellows. "Submit." Realizing his words aren't immediately being met with acceptance, the robed man grips his quarterstaff with both hands and holds up in front of his face and begins muttering some strange incantations while pressing a leaf of mistletoe against the weapon with his thumb. As his foreign words fall silent, the solid staff begins to radiate and glow a moss green color in the druid's hands. He takes a few determined steps forward and presses the assault against the reeling dragonborn, whirling his magically imbued stick with great force -- but Klilxuac, fearing for his life, drops to a knee and feels the breeze as the solid staff sails harmlessly overhead, then strategically disengages from Belak and Sir Braford, hoping to regroup by once on the other side of the 10-foot high wall now separating him from the threat.

Despite being firmly held in place, Hargrem continues his assault on the Gulthias Tree, raining even more flames down upon it. The flames continue to spread. The tree branches appear to quiver, and you swear you hear a near imperceptible pained howling noise emanating from the tree as it appears to writhe in pain as it is increasingly being engulfed in flames! After briefly admiring his success against the tree, the holy man turns with the intention of casting a Healing Word on Klilxuac, but the dragonborn is no longer in sight after dipping behind the wall of the sunken structure.

Sir Braford, intending to give chase to the sorcerer, reaches the wall, and realizing Klilxuac is too far away, elects to continue on and mount his attack against Kelben instead. The knight brings his longsword down with great force, issuing a deep cut into the rogue's right forearm. (-15)

Sharwyn and the Twig Blights continue their slumber.

Seeing the knight's sword slice deeply into Kelben, the sorcerer abandons his previous plan. Knowing Sir Braford must be killed or he will likely end the rogue, he launches another volley of purple energy at their martial foe.

Hargrem

With the sorceror moving out of his sight, he halted his healing spell. Just then, he witnessed Kelben take a nasty blow. Sending more fire down upon the tree, he then looked toward the gnome and sent him some healing. He just hoped that it would be enough.
Sacred Flame on Tree: [1d8] = 2

Sky tries to twist around and stab the frog clamped down on her leg.Is the alchemical fire still burning? Or can she not tell?

Kelben will move back towards Klilxuac. Then he will fire an arrow at Sir Bradford. Using the skimisher the direction I'm moving is back towards Klilxuac. However can I attack the retreat using disengauge?
Short Bow [1d20+4] = 2+4 = 6 to hit; [1d6+2] = 3+2 = 5 damage

Round 5
With the imposing and dangerous threat of Sir Braford looming over the gnome, Kelben puts his scouting skills to work and backs away without eliciting an unprovoked attack. The laboring gnome pulls back his bowstring and looses another projectile in the direction of the armored assailant, but his arrow clips the briar he intentionally placed between himself and his target and falls harmlessly to the ground.

"YEOOWW!" Sky howls in pain as the frog sinks its teeth into the bard's thigh. The tabaxi raises her rapier above her head and with two hands, forcefully brings the point down -- sinking it into the frog's skull! The muted sound of bones shattering are heard as the frog's grip on his thigh goes limp, as the albino amphibian crashes lifeless to the ground. Sky suddenly finds himself clear to assist the others.

At the same time, the branches of the Gulthias Tree, most of them now in flames, begin to quiver... then droop. The tree, while it has remained unmoving the entire time, now projects a sense of passing.

Belak howls as he senses it, too. "You!" he says, staring at Hargrem, whom has been pelting the tree with fire magic. "You're going to pay for that!" he bellows, but chokes up. "But first..." The druid moves up behind Sir Bradford, and after a few gestures, a brief blue flash surrounds the armored ally, revitalizing him.

Seeing the knight's sword slice deeply into Kelben, Klilxuac turns his focus to Sir Braford and launches another volley of purple energy at their martial foe -- one unerring blast after another appears to leave the knight in the same condition he was in prior to being healed by Belak.

Hargrem sends another bout of flame descending upon the tree -- just to be certain it's new condition remains. His attention quickly shifts to Kelben, but he notices the gnome, like the dragonborn before him, has shifted behind the wall and out of his view. The holy man curses the entanglement and his inability to move and adjust his perspective.

Laboring again, Sir Braford moves to confront both Kelben and Klilxuac, electing to target the sorcerer that blasted him moments earlier. Continuing his swath of terror, the knight opens a deep wound in the dragonborn's gut. A spark of pain fills Klilxuac's eyes... until everything goes black.

Sharwyn and the Twig Blights continue their slumber.

Kelben tries to get into a better position making a run for it back towards Sky the long way around trying to avoid the entangling area. hoping i can use that skirmisher ability again to do this. I am aiming to move as far as i can to be on the opposite side of the wall from the frog icon. Also this is assuming my 4 HP is accurate. Once hopefully far enough away the gnome tries to find his healing potion and downs it.

Hargrem

With each of his friends disappearing, Hargrem had to get free. He struggled to remove the vines that had grown up around his legs. Pulling with all of his might, he was unable to clear them. Then, the words of Sky rung in his ears. Their lives depended on him getting out of the mess. Unfortunately, he continued to be distracted and likewise stuck in the mess.

Round 6
After Sir Braford engaged with him and Klilxuac, Kelben again puts his skirmisher skills to use and disengages; retreating straight backwards, to the topside of the briar bush that was immediately to his left. The gnome wraps around the briar, squeezing between it and the outside cavern wall, then dashing south, towards either Hargrem or Sky. While on the move, the rogue fetches his potion of healing and consumes its contents, feeling more revitalized.

Sky, now free from the giant frog, turns her attention to the flaming tree. While aware of conflict happening beyond the wall on the opposite end of the conflict, she pulls her crossbow and fires a bolt into the trunk. The bard watches as her projectile sinks into the withering trunk and notices chips of bark easily break apart, splintering upon impact. The exposed area, now cleared of its barky covering, is black.

By all measures, the tree appears dead. Both thralls -- Sir Braford and Sharwyn -- twitch and cringe as if experiencing a brief, intense feeling of pain.

Belak, watching the dragonborn fall, and the gnome flee, turns back and notices the slumbering form of Sharwyn, one of his prized thralls. "Wake, my darling," he says as he takes a knee at her side and begins to rouse her from her slumber.

Klilxuac, now lying alone in his state of unconsciousness, struggles to stabilize himself as blood continues to seep from his wounds.

Sharwyn rubs her eyes and brushes her hair out of her face. She shakes her head, trying to force herself awake after her magically-induced slumber, looks to exact the same measure of attack against the party. Spying the heavily armored holy man, still struggling in the area of entanglement, she views him as an easy target and, allowing a pinch of fine sand to fall between her fingers and begins to hum a lullaby. Hargrem begins to feel an invisible wave of enchanting energy wave over him, and fights as his heavy eyelids begin to dip. He fights, and fights... before ultimately feeling his knees go weak and his form is overcome with an unmanageable desire to rest. The cleric collapses into a state of deep sleep... as the writhing vines and weeds begin to now crawl up his form, expanding up his legs to his knees, and beginning to wrap around his metal-clad arms and chest.

Sir Braford, tracking Kelben as he flees, gives a determined chase, using his full movement to catch up to the gnome... who, in a now well-practiced tactic, maneuvers himself at least temporarily out of harm's ways.

The Twig Blights continue to remain unmoving.

With Klilxuac lying unconscious, Hargrem now asleep in a patch of wild weeps, and Sharwyn re-awakened, the odds seem to have taken a dramatic turn.
