Chapter 6: Return to the Kobold Lair
Chapter 6: Return to the Kobold Lair
It will be the morning of December 23 when the party reaches the Kobold Lair:
3 Wandering monster checks per 12 mile hex at 6 1/2 hexes travel = 21 checks = 78 miles
Hex #1: [1d6] = 6 [1d6] = 2 [1d6] = 1: Mile 11: Cougar
Hex #2: [1d6] = 6 [1d6] = 1 [1d6] = 2: Mile 17: salmanders
Hex #3: [1d6] = 1 [1d6] = 5 [1d6] = 3: Mile 26: Lynx
Hex #4: [1d6] = 2 [1d6] = 4 [1d6] = 1: Mile 45: Lynx
Hex #5: [1d6] = 5 [1d6] = 2 [1d6] = 5: No Encounters
Hex #6: [1d6] = 3 [1d6] = 3 [1d6] = 2: No Encounters
Hex #7: [1d6] = 3 [1d6] = 3: No Encounters
You arrive at your previous campsite out side the Kobold Cult lair.

Re: Chapter 6: Return to the Kobold Lair
"Perhaps we should scout the area by the entrance before heading in", asks The Doctor.
He looks around staying alert.

Re: Chapter 6: Return to the Kobold Lair
"Indeed Doctor, a wise idea."
Jenks moves to check around the immediate area of the cave entrance but then stops.
"Say Teladrin, do you want to check for signs of any coming and goings before we mess things up for you?"

Tuireann:
"I will set up camp and tend to Tewahutes while you raid the lair. Tewahutes and I will wait here for three days before we head back. If you have not returned by then I will inform your next of kin of your fates."

Re: Chapter 6: Return to the Kobold Lair
Arn sits and skewers an apple on the tip of his sword. He munches on it and shares parables with Tuireann while the sneaky folk go about their business outside the cave.

Cayley
"Well let us go locate this alleged 'treasure horde.'" Cayley picks up her shield and flail.

Dungeon Master:
What Teladrin & Jenks notice while scouting around the entrance to the Kobold Lair are trails of blood & large reptilian footprints, in the snowy mud outside the lair.

Re: Chapter 6: Return to the Kobold Lair
We presumably can tell they are since we were here last time?
Re: Chapter 6: Return to the Kobold Lair
Dungeon Master:
Teladrin could maybe learn more using his Ranger Tracking Skills.
It is obvious to both him & even Jenks that the large footprints are reptilian in nature. (Different from Kobold footprints).

"So .... What can you tell us Teladrin?"

Dungeon Master:
Here are Ranger Tracking Abilities:
Note: It has been 8 days since you left for Galversharn & then returned.
However, these tracks were made in the last 12 hours. (coming & going)
I will say Teladrin has a 30% chance to track where the komodo dragon sized footprints lead to.
You can put this on your character sheet/ in your character sheet post Teladrin:

Allows only infrequent signs of passage due to rock, water, wind, other creatures Crossing or overtracking, etc: 0%
Prevents all but the minutest traces of passage: -50%
Other modifiers:
For each creatures beyond the first in the group being tracked: +02%
For every 12 hours elapsed since the trail was made: -05%
For every hour of precipitation that has fallen on the trail between tracker & quarry: -25%
Indoor Tracking: Base 10% Chance – Increases 10% Per Level
Surface Condition Modifiers:
Dirt Floor, or unused & dusty area: +20%
Wooden Floor or area which allows some occasional indication of passage: 0%
Stone Floor which prevents all but the minutest traces of passage: -50%

Re: Chapter 6: Return to the Kobold Lair
Arn walks over and takes a look at the footprints Teladrin discovered. 'I say! Those are some tracks.'
He takes a quick look around, realizing that recent footprints in both directions makes it possible that whatever made them is still outside.
'What sort of creature do you think it—or they—might be?'

Elusev walks over and drops to a knee, inspecting the tracks more closely, "I am no expert in tracking, but I have seen enough to know that these seem reptilian in nature, perhaps a lizard-folk or large kobold? Possibly something else..." He looks to Teladrin briefly for confirmation on the matter, continuing on, "Whatever it may be, if we do not know which direction it, or they, were last traveling in we should at least enter to check the place. If they are inside then we can clear it out, if they are not then we can wait for them or decide what best to do once we come to that."
Life is a roller coaster, if you don't stop to enjoy it then you may as well not even ride.

Re: Chapter 6: Return to the Kobold Lair
Arn breathes a sigh of relief upon hearing that he has yet another opportunity to test the purity of his own mettle. 'As usual, I will be happy to take guard at the fore, though those of you who can see better in the dark might fare better at spotting things.'

Dungeon Master:
The Party proceeds quietly into the entrance cave & goes down the spiral staircase without incident or any greeters this time around.
You have the choice to examine the room again, go through the south door which you have already been through or go through the east door which you have never opened yet.
Both doors are closed.

Procyon placed his ear on the east door, listening intently for any noises.

Jenks waits quietly for any thievery to be required.
He looks mournful, convinced as he is any loot will have disappeared with the reptillian intruders.
