Elusev stops and quickly draws his bow, he listens for any more noises.

did the shout sound like distress, or warning?

Dungeon Master:

You heard the sounds of a door being open & "Yanik! Yanik!" being heard repeatedly, along with other words, no one in the party, could not comprehend!

The Doctor keeps quiet and alert but strains to see in a downward glance in the direction of the noise and knows the party heard this as well by their lack of movement. He goes over his gear and chastises himself for not getting a ranged weapon skill. If he could see he might be able to cast a spell at them. Since no one is saying anything about what these creatures are saying he figures none of the party knows this language. He uses his knowledge of to attempt to discern what it might be given their task at hand. Based on that the probability of what these creatures might be....He pauses think man what are we after here?

Surely we need a light source don't we? Jenks is happy to carry it but maybe the Doctor is a better option? Anyone scouting should be well ahead anyway

OOC -- It is my understanding that we were lead down into the darkness by those that could see in the dark. I'm good either way but I think we are all on a spiral staircase in the dark.

Dungeon Master:

Yes, as Cwreando says, you are all on a spiral staircase in the dark, except for The Doctor in the back with a lantern.

It appears infravision users spotted you as the lead party members glowed in their vision, in spite of walking down slowly & quietly.

Party needs to decide what to go about doing here as whatever is done there are now others alerted!

Teladrin nocks an arrow as he waits for the party's decision to either continue forward or retreat.

Arn is armed up with sword and shield, but will have to stay back with the light as he can't really fight all that well if he can't see.

Dungeon Master:

Ok, Will the party wait on the stairs for what's coming or will the party go charging down in?!

The Doctor prods the group to get down the stairs,"Come on folks lets spread out and get off these stairs. We are sitting ducks here. Move ahead and spread out. Light coming down so adjust your eyes.", he tersely whispers. He advances down the stairs to allow the light to benefit those that need light to see.

Jenks let's the doctor past then presses himself back into whatever cover is around, or he skulks behind the fighters.

Arn keeps up with the Doctor, both to benefit from the light and to keep him protected in a possible melee.

Elusev will continue to maintain the vanguard of the group as they head down the stairs. He will keep his bow at the ready unless they reach a more confined space, then choosing to switch to his melee weapon.

Procyon trots ahead behind Elusev, in case of trouble.
How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, ’n’ how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, ’n’ how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind
The answer is blowin’ in the wind

Dungeon Master:

As the party reaches the bottom of the steps 2 crossbow bolts come flying:

Crossbow Bolt #1 [Elusev]: [1d20] = 2 : This is a Miss!

Crossbow Bolt #2 [Teladrin]: [1d20] = 13 : This is a Miss!

I made a map of the Entry Hall you are now in with all but The Doctor off the steps.

There are 2 Kobold guardsmen in front of the opened south door, they switch from crossbows to short spears now.

Thus we begin the 1st round of combat:

Initiative:
Party: [1d6] = 4
Kobolds: [1d6] = 4

Both are attacking at the same time.

Kobold #1: (AC 7: HP ? / ? )
Attacking Elusev: [1d20] = 13 : This is a Miss!

Kobold #2: (AC 7: HP ? / ? )
Attacking Teladrin: [1d20] = 6 : This is a Miss!

The Map below is 1 Square = 5 Feet
Opps I know Elusev is on there twice!

Party Actions Needed!!

The Doctor looks for ways to shield himself in the back of the group from any ranged attacks that might come his way. He says, "Get em."

Wait, I thought Hemlocks went home? I'm so confused.
How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, ’n’ how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
