Marcus silently hands the man 15 silver, nodding his head with a smile.

He hitches the cart up to the donkey and gently places the bear in it, along with any gear that he or the others don't want to carry.

He stands with his three friends, "Let's go, shall we?"

also, not totally sure if they were jokes or not about Gizzy but if needed Marcus can wind him up?

Bürd has had more than his fill of Hayles and is jumpy, ready to be back on the road. Since the cottage he's kept a wary eye on Rug, and as Marcus loads him into the cart, Bürd mumbles to Simon, "ent nat'ral what y'done t'the cub lad, an' mark me words we'll be seein' bad from it. But yer heart's in th'right place I'll grant ye."

Simon answers the dwarf with another of his naive smiles. "You're not wrong, I'll grant you that. There was nothing natural about it. The gods granted this boon. They have their eyes on our Marcus and his cub. And I'll stay by his side until I find out why."

There is a good deal of mystery in his voice, with a hint of wonderment. Simon mostly prays to the gods of wisdom and justice, but he has great interest to see which god has a use for these two. Bürd has noticed that Simon has flipped through the Astrology book more than usual the last few days. Along with the fortuitous rabbit breakfast he found the next morning, Simon takes the book as a sign that it was found in the same location that he performed the ritual and is determined to gain some meaning from it.

Burd just shakes his head slowly, and wanders off mumbling something about beardless fools and digging deeper than is right an' nat'ral.

It is looking like the Stoat contingent of new players may have withered on the vine. Too bad, because I think we had some great players with great characters, and it would have been nice to bring in some new personalities for you guys to bounce off. We'll continue on, and we can consider whether or not we'd like to recruit again, next time you folks are nearing civilization.

Accompanied by the rhythmic creaking of the donkey-cart's axle, the party sets off along the north road, to Stoat.

Spring 8-11, Middleday-Moonday
As you walk to Stoat, it feels as though you are traveling back through the seasons—the air is colder, the mountains are blanketed in white, and the ground is wet and soggy with melting snow and ice. The road to Stoat is steep and in terrible repair after the long winter. The going is slow.

Fortunately, there are a number of sturdy way-houses, simple wooden structures with firepits and cots, for travelers along the road, so you are able to sleep well. (+3 HP, for those who need it)

Rug the Cub is awake, and hungrier than ever. He has learned to walk with his hind leg held close to his body, a limping hop that leads to a tumble every three or four steps. At night, he has forgone his habit of sleeping on Gizzy's ticking chest (to Gizzy's relief—the Cub is getting bigger and heavier) and curls up tightly against Marcus.

Any business on the road before we enter Stoat proper?

Yeah, a bit disappointing. I was looking forward to some fresh blood to shake things up a bit.

Marcus and Rug are good to go!

Marcus would of course make sure that the young bear cub always had food and at times will attempt to help the bear straighten the limp out as the leg heals.
