Idonea: "They appear to be aware of our presence, what with the flying arrows and random fires. I'd suggest the time for stealth is over. I say we move in fast and hard so that they have the briefest amount of time to use their cover for advantage."

Lutha

shakes his head in apprehension at the boldness of young adventurers: "Your mind dreams for pain ! Bid goodbye to temptation" but nevertheless loads his sling with another bullet.

Wolfram

likewise prepares for any hostilities, Tenebaum's mace firmly in hand. Under the pretence of studying the aerodynamical properties of cave mist swirling around human forms, he also glances semi-pathetically at Kormak & Idonea now & then to see if they've started full-on snogging yet

Borum"Finally, something I am more useful at besides patching someone up" readying his shield

Wexley looks down to his bow and looks back at those preparing to charge. I suppose I can take a shot to keep them down just as you charge and nocks an arrow ready to fire, and does so right as they start to charge.

To hit: [1d20+1] = 13+1 = 14, damage with short bow: [1d6+2] = 2+2 = 4

Mort takes the same measures as Wexley setting a bolt, preparing to give the charging party some cover fire. Readying his crossbow for a shot. Crossbow, Light Hit[1d20 +3] = 17+3 = 20 Dmg[1d4] = 2

Kormak sets down his bow and quiver and takes out his two handed sword. Then charges in sword swinging only for hobgoblins. Two-Handed Sword[1d20 +1] = 10+1 = 11 Dmg[1d10 +2] = 4+2 = 6 Lrg Dmg[3d6 +2] = 12+2 = 14

Idonea nods as the party prepares for the charge. "Good, archers provide covering fire while we charge in there. But first, we'll need light. Got some more oil? Or anyone have a handy spell?"

Someone can just throw a torch in again

Borum charges in at the signal...

To Hit: [1d20+1] = 7+1 = 8, damage with Hammer: [1d4+2] = 1+2 = 3

to avoid the perceived unrealisticness of previous melee mayhem, when is it OK for Lutha to fling his sling ?

Idonea says, "Let's have Wolfram throw the torch—he has a good arm for that sort of thing. Those with bows, cover our charge with arrow fire, the second the light hits. Kormak, Borum, myself, and anyone else with more guts than brains, get ready to run."

She hefts her military fork. "Ready?"

Ewat readies his bow.

Wolfram

focuses intensely on the flame of the torch, his eyes transfixed. For a moment it seems he's gone catatonic but no! It was just immense concentration (using his skills Direction Sense 2 WIS +1 G and Distance Sense 1 WIS 0 G CR ) leading up to a sudden, dramatical arched volley. The torch lights up the ceiling of the cavern as it moves along its trajectory: Throwing stuff: [1d20] = 13 and lands <ka-ploff> hopefully right where Idonea intended. Wolfram is now one extremely proud boy.

I don't know if rolls are used when applying NWP/skills, but here are two, just in case: NWP/skill/perception/general aptitude roll: [1d20] = 15 and NWP/skill/perception/general aptitude roll: [1d20] = 8

wow that's a lot of text colours

Assuming Wolfram's throw went well:

Ewat begins the volley:
Short-range Bow: [1d20+3] = 13+3 = 16 Damage: [1d6x2] = 3x2 = 6

At the last moment, Idonea stows her fork and draws her sword for the charge:
Sword s/m: [1d20+1] = 14+1 = 15 damage [1d8+2] = 1+2 = 3

Ok, in the absence of vociferous complaints...here goes!

Lutha

distracted by the flickering shadows caused by the volleyed torch, fires his sling ....at the cave ceiling!
Sling to hit: [1d20+1] = 2+1 = 3, damage with bullet vs S/M opp: [1d4+2] = 3+2 = 5 / damage with bullet vs L opp: [1d6+2] = 4+2 = 6 "What goes up can't be choosers, as everyone knows"

Maya and victor both share a smirk with each other as the group decides on charging.

Maya brings her shield in, no longer providing cover from the wall and acts as vanguard for the charge, hoping to block any incoming arrows with her shield, her sword drawn and ready to slice through flesh.

Longsword: [1d20] = 14 Damage: S/M[1d8+1] = 1+1 = 2, L[1d12+1] = 6+1 = 7

Victor waits for the initial charge, letting the volley of arrows go between the two groups before rushing in after the fighters. He draws his sword and begins humming a joyful tune as he stays near the edges of combat, striking when he sees an opportunity to exploit.

Short Sword: [1d20] = 9 Damage: S/M[1d6] = 4, L[1d8] = 6

Dungeon Master:

Ok, let's get a visual on this here:

Archers Covering the chargers:

Wexley: To hit: [1d20+1] = 13+1 = 14, damage with short bow: [1d6+2] = 2+2 = 4

Ewat begins the volley:
Short-range Bow: [1d20+3] = 13+3 = 16 Damage: [1d6x2] = 3x2 = 6

Lutha: distracted by the flickering shadows caused by the volleyed torch, fires his sling ....at the cave ceiling!
Sling to hit: [1d20+1] = 2+1 = 3, damage with bullet vs S/M opp: [1d4+2] = 3+2 = 5 / damage with bullet vs L opp: [1d6+2] = 4+2 = 6 "What goes up can't be choosers, as everyone knows"

Chargers:

Borum: charges in at the signal...
To Hit: [1d20+1] = 7+1 = 8, damage with Hammer: [1d4+2] = 1+2 = 3

At the last moment, Idonea stows her fork and draws her sword for the charge:
Sword s/m: [1d20+1] = 14+1 = 15 damage [1d8+2] = 1+2 = 3

Maya: Longsword: [1d20] = 14 Damage: S/M[1d8+1] = 1+1 = 2, L[1d12+1] = 6+1 = 7

Victor: Short Sword: [1d20] = 9 Damage: S/M[1d6] = 4, L[1d8] = 6

A torch is tossed into the room, the 2 Hobgoblins currently stay put behind torture implements, a rack about 30 feet straight in & an iron maiden about 40 feet in the north east corner.

The chargers charge, the arrows arrows flies & then we roll to see for surprise as 2 whips try to snag 2 of the charges from the right hand side of the room not visible off the passage.

Party: [1d6] = 4
Hobgoblins: [1d6] = 3

No one is surprised but the whips get to try to hit first!

Hobgolin #3: Attacks with whip:
Hobgolin #4: Attacks with whip:

I need to know how you charged it? was it like

Idonea Borum
Maya Victor

then borum & victor get the whip attacks

Wolfram

after having flung the torch, picks up Tenebaum's mace again and joins the tail end of the charge if he has a chance.

Tenebaum's magic mace to hit: [1d20+1] = 1+1 = 2 (plus any magic adds), damage vs S/M opp: =? / damage vs L opp: =?

but he, too, apparently is now practicing the useless art of cave-bashing.....

you forgot this Mort is going to also be covering the chargers and Kormak was going to charge.

Also, Victor was not charging but coming in after the charge had taken place.

If it makes it too confusing though he can be added to the chargers.

Otherwise everything is fine with me.
