"My memory seems to fail me when I try to think about the Great Burn.... tell me, did the city make an effort to try and restore this place? I know there were a lot of refugees and survivors of the sort, my family may have treated some of them in the past, but that is the extent of my knowledge of the place, at least until I can remember more..." Fezuul looks to the group as he says this, especially Strongarm, as he tries to figure out as much as he can about this potential home for the cultists.

"All I can remember is lots of folks grabbing what they could and rushing outta the area, many folk lost their homes and jobs some even lost lives. But I don't like talking about it, terrible memories involved in that for me."

The doctor frowns and bows his head in apology. "My apologies. I meant no offense when I asked, and my choice of words were poor, I realize."

"Truly I don't wish to travel the sewers again just yet, just calm down and don't lose your head. I know some of my way around the sewers from the guild but not all of it. I think for now this is the best route."

Gilnes saunters along with the grace of a man about town. Strangely his casually stride seems mirrored by Lafria the elvin cat. However only those without martial training would make the mistake of thinking that they both weren't ready for an ambush.

"Be ready for anything my friends, those that we hunt may have learnt from the past as we have. It may not be possible to catch them unprepared like last time. Indeed, if we have seen anything thus far, it is that they are taking the initiative to attack us when we least expect it."

Strongarm seeing all of the charred building gets a solitary tear in his eye. It all pains him to remember that horrible day.
DM edit: Sorry, but I always hated that commercial.

As you approach the site, you realize that dozens of buildings were consumed by the blaze.
You heard the fire was extensive but you had not expected the damage to be this vast.
It appears that no effort has been made to clear away the rubble. Stones, bricks, timbers and sections of walls and roof lie in an enormous blackend heap.
Carron tells you that the mayor of Greyhawk decided that clearing the area would have to wait. A low four-foot fence was constructed around the site to prevent children from wandering in accidentally. The fence is certainly no barrier to anyone who wishes to enter the area badly enough.
Carron says that he will obey the order not to enter beyond the fence and that he is needed back at the Guild post, but he gives each of you a writ of passage to investigate. Mage Guild Seal "Take these, for what it's worth"
Nicholi & Carron prepare to return to the newer side of town.
The former gives a prayer of protection and blessing to the endeavor.
Carron looks the party over and, with a comforting nod of the head, hands his wand of Magic Missile to Feezul.
(2 missiles per use) This should give the doctor a formidable weapon, should he decide to use such
Talaseka stays with the group.
Gilnes can confirm that you all stand somewhere close to the site of his being attacked. An entrance to the sewers below must be nearby.

Strongarm "Bah not down there again...." he says and points to the entrance.

Strongarm points to the fish warehouse area , which seems to be covered in rubble.
From the safe side of the barrier fence, three local boys begin throwing stares, and an occasional spittle. One of which, actually connects and hits the backside of Benson as you all cross over.
You turn to see the young lads, approx. 7 yrs old quickly turn and run away.

Fezuul nods to Carron in appreciation and says quckly before the mage departs, "I shall remember to return this when everything is said in done, thank you, and.... careful, the both of you. Our enemies seem to know more than we'd like and will no doubt try to do anything to stop those who would ruin their plans." The doctor's intention was not to scare them, but to give a friendly, yet serious warning.

Agrim utters a blessing upon Gilnes: "By Beory, may y-you quickly find y-your way back to the sewers from whence y-you escaped, Master Gilnes, so th-that we may descend and r-remove th-the bl-blight from Greyhawk and speedil-l-ly come out again."
