Chapter 02: Out and about
Re: Chapter 02: Out and about
Sorry, my bad English may be the reason behind all this bird misunderstanding. I PM:ed Dram that Ox spotted "a flock of maybe 10-20 four-legged creatures, about half a mile away, running in a northerly direction" forgetting that 'flock' is used for birds only. Should have written "a herd" or something like that. Apologies to Dram!

Makes for good role play to have us pick on one another we are all supposed to be good friends right?Nordbo wrote:Sorry, my bad English may be the reason behind all this bird misunderstanding. Right on, mate!
Re: Chapter 02: Out and about
After a few hours' further trekking across the dusty plains, the landscape changes slightly. It's beginning to look more valley-like; you see hill ranges distantly parallel to each other, with small wisps of clouds swirling round their peaks.
No sign of life, and the ground is still dry, but in the centre of the valley, a tiny trickle of water seems to glimmer, just a small remnant of what must have once been a vast river bed.

Re: Chapter 02: Out and about
Ox guides his horse down to the little stream to let it drink. Climbs down from his horse and investigates the for any signs of tracks or life. Lets have the horses drink while we investigate.

Re: Chapter 02: Out and about
The three friends allow their mounts a well-earned pause in the warm midday sun. Trotting down into the gouged-out furrow where the small, shallow stream quietly trickles, the horses thirstily gulp the all the (surprisingly clear) water they can manage, while the adventurers scan for any tracks along the surrounding half dry, half moist banks.

Re: Chapter 02: Out and about
Korin points out to the others something strange he noticed "Hey fellas look at that." the dwarf points to something about 70 ft or so upstream, an odd shape poking out from behind a corner of the gently twisting riverbed. But it's difficult to make out if it's just a bit of weirdly formed mud, or what.

Re: Chapter 02: Out and about
Ox follows Norbolds lead. But follows him wide bow drawn. Norbold move away from the edge of the water. Korin take the horses away from the waters edge. Ox will keep eye out on the water behind him also.

Norbold Ernessaeia (Sylvanian Elf Cleric): Scale Mail AC 6 : Hit Points 6 / 6:
Hearing Ox, Norbold, moves to be 30 ft away from the following water, while still approaching the muddy looking object, while staying 30 ft away from it.

Re: Chapter 02: Out and about
The object is a large coiled, tubular heap, scaly but partly covered in patches of dried mud/sand. It lies perfectly still against the dried mud bank, with what looks like a tail partly dipping into the water edge.

Re: Chapter 02: Out and about
Wading through the shallow water, arrow ready, Norbold approaches the coiled heap, with Ox close behind him. From 30 feet's distance this is what they can see:
