Gilnes also wishes the two a safe and speedy return to their respective places of comfort, and turns to accept Algrim's blessing.

"Thank-you my friend. Perhaps now we will find our quarry unprepared and easily bested... with the goodwill of all goodly gods."

"Now... where is that opening?" he says heading off in that direction.

For the DM: [1d100] = 69[1d20] = 12[1d10] = 5[1d8] = 2[1d6] = 6[1d4] = 2

To those entering the burn site, you notice the danger of shifting rubble, sharp objects and empty pockets beneath the debris.
All need to make a Dexterity, or Balance if using 2.5, check while investigating the area.
Gilnes gracefuly hops from one teetering board to another. (+1 bonus for everyone else to the next d20 roll, if following him in)
Followed by 1d10 if the roll was a failure.
The module has a chart for failures....

Fezuul will follow Gilnes through the smoldering, hazardous debris, ready to cast a shield spell at a moment's notice.

Fezuul's balance is 13, 14 with the +1 bonus. [1d20] = 17, I guess the doctor's foot snagged on something....

[1d10] = 2, sorry about that. Next time I will just stick with my bagful of dice roll.

Branc Temugen

Branc follows Gilnes through the rubble deftly picking his way and avoiding the various hazards. He trusts Kodara to rely on his caracal agility.
As he makes his way through the burn, Branc watches for any telltale signs of magical activity, especially fire spells.

Branc Balance (16-): [1d20] = 1

Branc: [1d6] = 3, [1d8] = 4, [1d10] = 10, [1d20] = 14, [1d100] = 87

Something sharp does snag the doctor's pant leg, but it merely rips the cloth. Bringing more embarrassment than pain.
a 2 on the chart roll was the ONLY safe result.....whew

Along with Strongarm's direction, the group finds a natural low spot that would be a normal place for a sewer opening.
The party begins clearing debris in hopes of seeing what lies below.
Beneath a few boards, the first sign that the party is on the right track.....???....a few carrion-like grythoks can be seen cleaning meat from a bone.
When exposed they begin to scatter and attack.
Known to carry disease.
Dont forget the mega-rolls included in all posts.

Strongarm takes out his flail and takes a swing at one of the critters To Hit Thaco=19[1d20] = 9 Footman's Flail Dmg[1d6 +1] = 5+1 = 6
my first combat with this guy wasn't sure how many swings he gets.
For the DM:[1d100] = 4[1d20] = 18[1d10] = 3[1d8] = 6[1d6] = 4[1d4] = 1

Fezuul will cast a shield spell on his self and try to get to higher ground, not wanting to engage in melee combat if he can help it.

[1d100] = 86 [1d20] = 11 [1d10] = 9 [1d8] = 8 [1d6] = 1 [1d4] = 4

"Those things are disease-ridden," the doctor shouts to the group in panic!

For the balance check (balance = 12), and anything else: [1d100] = 28, [1d20] = 10, [1d10] = 8, [1d8] = 1, [1d6] = 3, [1d4] = 1

ROUND 1: Agrim initiative roll: [1d10] = 6

Agrim snarls with disgust and whips out a hand axe to throw at one of the disgusting creatures.

Hand axe, thrown: S/M [1d6+7] = 1+7 = 8; L [1d4+7] = 2+7 = 9 Hmmm, that hits AC 10...

Gilnes tries to kill one of the disgusting things but his sword clangs against the steel of Strongarm’s flail, who had just brought death upon the same target that the elf had singled out.
Temugen spends the first few seconds changing weapons. He soon brings his dagger out and swings at the closest one to him. As his flesh gets nearer to the carrion, the creature twitches slightly, perks up and attempts to climb up the boot, but does not have an angle of attack to hit.
Agrim, Gil and Strongarm can hear the grythok that tried to get onto Branc, begin emitting a high pitch shriek inaudible to humans.
Benson brings the same grytok to its demise, then another.
The others in this disgusting swarm twitch and change course, now heading solely to any of the good aligned members of the group. :o
The shriek gets louder, but still cannot be heard by the humans.
Talaseka shrieks from disgust.... "Eiuuuuuuu. Grooooosssss."
Although covered in protective full plate (AC-3), she steps behind the plain clothed Dr. Lokvin, who begins his Shield spell.
Agrim throws an axe, hitting nothing but charcoal & nails.
At the end of the round, Strongarm stands with two of the creatures halfway up his leg. One succefully bites 5 damage(you saved for disease), and the other is skewered, and flung away, by Phineous just in time.
Round two declarations & rolls....There are three visible remaining, they seem to be ignoring Agrim and Gilnes
Locked
