The Mausoleum of the Ghouls

I am not familiar with Anubis in this setting and how he is portrayed. Some D&D makes him evil but in Egyptian mythology he was certainly not, he was the protector of the dead and the god who taught man the magical art of embalming. Would Khawla know how he is regarded in this setting?
Anubis (and most of the Egyptian gods) are worshiped primarily in the lands and cities of Osirion. He is revered as the God of the Underworld and Protector of the Dead. In Osirion lore, Anubis is not evil, although some of his followers certainly can be.

"I think it would be potentially be very bad if you intentionally desecrated that idol. Bring it along though so we can make sure it goes to the right place. I think something has gone very wrong here, perhaps this place once prevented the undead from rising and has been unused to long."

prepares his weapons to continue, bastard sword in one hand and tomahawk (hand axe) in the other
lets finish cleaning this place of undead and hopefully make safe enough that the acolytes can continue the cleansing so we can move on
he advances to continue exploring the rest of the cave system

Tuga takes his Glaive and readies himself to continue.

Khawla readies herself and then follows Gurkan.

The companions follow Gurkan's lead and clear the rest of the complex, which only consists of a tunnel they didn't explore. They follow it all the way to its source where there is another hole in another wall...and this one Khawla recognizes as the first place she fought the ghouls. They've come full circle it seems.

Anyway, you are at the southern room where Khawla first encountered the ghouls; three red X's mark the three vanquished ghouls.

"It seems we have cleared everything and discovered a lost temple to Anubis. We should go back and check on the acolytes before deciding what to do next."

yes, Gurkan nods and reviews his and the group wounds weighing if they are good enough

looks like there might be something connecting the cavern's below the town, we should go back and clear that rat cellar

do we need some healing?

Elwood agrees "Yeah we should go finish what we started tha other day."

"Once we check on the acolytes I am good going to the other underground section and finishing what we started, assuming all is good with the acolytes."

See where the tunnels link up (top at the map) and run to the large room on the left? That's where you are currently. Apologies for not making this more clear.

After some discussion, the group decides to head back to the Dawnflower Library and check on the acolytes and Vandy. They find the day overcast outside with the promise of rain, but once inside the Library, things are not quite as hectic as it was when they left to fight the ghouls. Acolytes are busy cleaning and sweeping and mopping and such things, and they are even greeted by a familiar face:

"Well now, how'd we do? Any more ghoulish critters or did ya send 'em all back to the grave where they belong?"
Vandy looks exhausted and her face is a bit pale, but her eyes are bright and she is clearly on the mend.

Khawla

"Unfortunately yes, more ghouls. We didn't find anymore so hopefully we got the all. We found an old long abandoned temple of Anubis." She pulls out the idol and shows Vandy.

"Any idea about this? I am wondering if the temple originally kept the ghouls in check and with its deterioration they are finally free."

"There was evidence of other acolytes that had been there also, perhaps hunted.?"

Tuga shows the bloody robe.

Elwood "Yah know that ain't tha only old temple we found. Remember when we went huntin down them giant rats under tha tavern? Eventually we did stumble inta a room worshipin some sorta water god er somethin had that there bowl o' water in tha room. Kinda forgot what we determined from that there room."
