Falling back and focusing himself, Vakar drops his dagger on the floor to pull out his yew longbow. He fires an arrow directly into the creature's eye, which audibly pops and pours black ichor down its face. (-14) Its howl changes to surprise, then it goes down.
(Ralfwin gets 3 Gjof points for the Sacrifice of the dying man.)

Venting the last of his anger, Stigandr hacks the Dying Man's corpse several more times though it is unmoving, ensuring that the several separate chunks will prevent a second return.

Shaken by the Hel-ish blows, both Ralfwin and Skirfir[/b] heal from their near-fatal wounds, the flesh mending but the black threads of necrosis still spiderwebbing like inky black veins. Doshea enters the room, examining the flesh and calling upon Thor to banish the taint of Hel from them.
Doshea's Paladin healing touch can cure disease where the clerical Cure Wounds does not. It takes 10 of her 15 points to cure them. Otherwise, this is bad stuff.

Doshea presents the scroll she acquired in the neighboring storage room; Ralfwin determines it to be a Scroll of Lesser Restoration, of the type required to prevent the man's transformation.
