Chauncey stares enviously and somewhat in surprise at Wesley's magical hawks then ducks back behind the pillar.

"Hawks..." he murmurs to himself, looking at his hands, "Why does he get hawks? I need to beef up my spell presentation..."

Dungeon Training

Amun buries her jagged sword nearly to it's hilt inside the roaring monster, doing copious amounts of damage.

Grimm and Luther continue their attacks too, as Elnaerel backs away and starts to chant. This process will take a good long while, but should eventually aid her friends, if they dont die before she is finished. (1 turn casting time)

Wes stays out of the fight and calls once again upon his magic to aid this battle. A spectral hawk appears upon his arm before diving straight into the battle, causing the creature a bit more damage but not bringing it down. (Is there supposed to be 2 hawks or just two attacks from the same hawk?)

Chauncey becomes jealous after seeing his friends conjuring, deciding to do nothing to help the group against this rather powerful monster who retaliates swiftly once again.

Luther is clawed and bitten 6 dam, while Amun is chomped by the dragons head this time 9 dam, luckily preventing it from using its dangerous breath weapon a second time. Though the beast is clearly injured, there appears to be plenty of fight left in this monster.

I think I've written it both ways in the past. Possibly one that swoops around if there's lots of space, two if there isn't.

Grimm

Long Sword - To hit: [1d20]=10; Dmg: S/M [1d8]=8 L [1d12]=3

Elnaerel realizes that she hasn't really thought this through. She decides to attack the best again, interrupting and loosing her spell.

Morningstar - To hit [1d20]=12; Dmg S/M [2d4]=6 L [1d6+1]=3+1=4

As usual, for nothing.

Overcoming his internal struggle, Chauncey peeks around the corner and fires his rock shards again. He tries to shape them into little birds, but they come out looking more like severely injured junebugs as they buzz forward to strike their target:

Wes D'oh!

Wes snatches a 30' length of vine from the side of his pack and runs over to the pillar where Chauncey is sheltering. He throws one end of the vine around the pillar and secures it with a knot. Once done, he takes the remaining 20' or so and twirls the already-looped end, ready to lasso the monstrosity.

Dungeon Training

The monster is quick to react this time, biting and clawing at the aggressors attacking it in close range. Luther 4 dam and Amun 3 dam are injured further, but neither seriously yet. Elnaerel is bitten by the lion head 5 dam while the dragon head rears back and breaths another gout of searing flame upon the elf. 11 dam (Save vs. Breath for half)

Amun thrusts her sword into the body of the beast again, ripping flesh open and causing another major wound on the thing, but somehow, it still doesn't fall.

Wes and Chauncey trade off roles, with the magically protected druid remaining out of the fight, tossing a vine around the pillar near his friend.

Chauncey fires a pair of stony looking junebugs into the monster, smirking as the thing finally staggers a bit from its many wounds. In his professional opinion, this threat is very nearly vanquished.

Actions!

Amun (F3) AC:2 15/33

Amun, swinging wide this time, shouts to the ones behind her:

"We need help here, this beast is too savage!"

2H sword, to hit: [1d20+3]=2+3=5, damage: [1d10+3]=6+3=9 (SM), [3d6+3]=11+3=14 (L)

Wes, I think we will need your 53 hp to soak some of the damage pretty soon.

"Must I use all of my spells!?" shouts Chauncey in petty irritation. "You must place the pointy part on the beast for best effect!" Having read several fighting treatises, he considered himself somewhat of an expert in the subject, even if he deigned to participate in hand-to-hand combat himself.

Foregoing the disappointing bird shapes this time he focuses intently and, feeling an odd multiplying of his magical power, he fires off another pair of projectiles. Except instead of just a pair, a trio of shards appears, to his delight. Happily, their irregular shapes and wildly spinning trajectories produce an ominous whistling before they thud into the creature with significant force:

Magic Missile (Level 5 Strength): [1d4+1]=1+1=2, [1d4+1]=3+1=4, [1d4+1]=2+1=3

Wes

With the three-headed monster apparently on it's last legs, Wes decides to save his magical lasso. When Chauncey suddenly reveals his magical upgrade, Wes feels slightly irked, having become used to hurling around the clearly greater power of Obad Hai. He conjures up a single, powerful, falcon and sends it sweeping around the pillars for multiple attacks, to mixed success.

Hunter's Hawk (THACO 18) [1d20]=16; Dmg: [1d4]=4 [1d20]=11; Dmg: [1d4]=4

Sadly, Wes' 53hp are paired with an AC of 7. In combat, he goes down faster a Chinese balloon vs an F-22.

Speaking of AC. Chauncey, AC 3, what happened? Working out in your spare time? Pact with the devil? Wearing the arch lich's platinum bracers of defence? :)

I don't know if you heard? He's studied several treatises on fighting, so he's kind of an expert... :)

No, actually, he is wearing the Arch Lich's Bracers of Defense AC 3 (Or, more accurately, the Dragon Gift Bracers of Defense AC 3). 8-)

Dungeon Training

After another vicious attack and an even more intense display of magical power than normal, the strange creature is eventually bested before it strikes again.

Oddly, as soon as the monster expires, it vanishes in a snap, disappearing completely without sound or any indication as to where it went. There isn't even any blood remaining on the floor where the battle took place.

The huge empty room is suddenly silent again, its tall pillars stretching up into the dark ceiling above.

As before, the only obvious item of interest is a single door in the far wall.

Actions?

Amun massages her bloodied shoulder and inhales deeply.

"What sorcery is this? The beast was not real but the wounds still hurts as if it were. I wonder what's next in our training. I think we should have a look around in this room at least."

If the others don't object, she'll assist in searching the walls and floor for any secrets. This place is full of them, so why not additional ones in this room, right?

Is there such a thing as attempting to disbelief in this? Amun would like to think that it all was an illusion, or in her head...
