In the Mind of Man (ooc and questions V)
Re: In the Mind of Man (ooc and questions V)
I remember a game where we found a Ziebart shop in a dungeon... and the next critter that showed up was a rust monster.

Love the chinasaur avatar.
Rust Monsters are as iconicly D&D as Gelatinous Cubes, Beholders, Mimics, Ghouls, Carrion Crawlers, Pig-faced Orcs, et al.
But I've always felt Rust Monsters were specifically designed to "get" well-armored PCs, like an Ear Seeker is meant to "get" PCs who like to listen at doors.

Gorgeous and economical wordsmithing. Its once-transparent mass horrifically blossoms with a ghastly cloud of crimson as it starts the unspeakable process of dissolving Grigor's flesh! (7hp damage)
Mercifully the gypsy's lantern, still locked in his fist, is deprived of air and goes out. Torix and Zahra are plunged into darkness and need not witness that horror any longer.

Wow. Thanks, guys!
I rolled a Gelatinous Cube on the wandering monster chart, and was afraid it might be too silly a creature for a Robert E Howard game. So I decided to focus on the horror aspect, my usual default.

Gnasher is not inside the Gelatinous Cube, only Grigor. And Gnasher biting an acidic ooze that paralyzes him after he bites it is probably not the best thing. How about enlarging a sword to cause more damage or enlarging a pool of fiery oil, or shrinking the cube so that a limb of Grigor sticks out and you can grasp it and pull him free instead?

Thanks!! I meant Grigor indeed! I don’t have shrink memorized just enlarge. Was thinking if he grew it would help him counteract the cube. Burning hands is my backup but that does minimal damage. CLW is in the cards next to keep him alive.
Appreciated!!

Grigor has this round to stay conscious and the next round to stay alive.
I suggest we attack this round with full force.

No I think with my failed save I was paralyzed straight away hence not acting last round.
Re: In the Mind of Man (ooc and questions V)
Grigor has 7 HP. This round is his last in a conscious state - paralyzed or not.
Next round, if he takes the same amount of damage, he'll be at 0.
We need to take down this cube ASAP.

Apologies for the delay. Work is hectic.
I'll post Cruloc's attack tomorrow.

"Normally, I would applaud such vigorous jiggling!"
This made me laugh...and nearly spit coffee on my computer screen.Cruloc plunges his Thracian blade deep into the quivering jelly - SHLNK! If the thing has vitals, his steel has certainly pierced them. An unearthly, piteous wail emerges from an unseen orifice, and before the hilt, his hand, and forearm are swallowed, he jerks it forcefully downward, scything open a great gash in its side. Slurping, burbling flatulence spews forth, cutting short the barbarian's primal shout.
"GRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAA- *uck*!"
Winter is coming...
