Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
I looked back in the logs - we have been detailing out this battle since November 17, 2021.

Ah, but that 1km was the hard one. Now we have demilitarised our enemy, we can take all the territory we want. #breakthrough

Is the missing word "custody"???
Gamewise you do now effectively control (if not own) the Starport.

Do we have anything to do beyond claiming whatever prize(s) we can?Tiglath wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 9:30 pmOoooh, oooh I know!BackworldTraveller wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 3:32 pmAnd we will be in <insert capital city here> for christmas? The Bindoner wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 3:01 pm Ah, but that 1km was the hard one. I just finished reading P.A. Piatt's Abner Fortis, ISMC, and enjoyed the series.
One of the things it reminded me was that officers and enlisted have very separate roles in an organization. That's what Jakob was saying to Gaughan; that if there was an issue then he trusted to Gaughan to take care of it.

Who is the logistics officer for the SEMC?
We need to get our gear off the ship and into cover before someone sneaks a round into our only transport!

Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
We don't really have one at the moment.
I suppose it comes under Voss, he's the "everything but command decisions" guy at HQ.
Though, I doubt there is currently anything around that can (a) do serious damage to a Starship and (b) get close enough (c) past our allied air-cover.

If we underestimate the possibilities, we are sure to be surprised. The Bindoner wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 9:00 am We don't really have one at the moment.

Oddly enough, I've been thinking along those same lines. There's a lot of "business" that needs to be done, but I'm not sure that it's front stage game material.

Here's the stats for a "Type T Patrol Cruiser":
Basic Ship Synopsis
T Patrol Cruiser. 400 tons. Jump-3, 4-G. 160 tons fuel. Model/3. 12 staterooms. 4 low berths. 4 hardpoints (2 triple missile turrets. 2 triple laser turrets). Ship’s boat. G-Carrier. 10 crew. MCr221.04.16 months. [2]
Description (Specifications)
The ship performance of Jump-3 and 4-G acceleration. Fuel tankage of 120 tons supports the power plant and allows one Jump-3. Adjacent to the bridge is a Model/3 computer. There are twelve staterooms and four low berths. [3]
There are four triple turrets installed, with fire control; two mount lasers and two mount missile racks. A GCarrier and a ship's boat are carried. There is a 50-ton cargo bay, and the ship is streamlined. [3]
The patrol cruiser has a crew of 18: pilot, navigator, three engineers, medic, four gunners, and eight troops for boarding parties. Double occupancy for the gunners and troops is required. The ship costs MCr221.04 and typically takes fourteen months to build. [3]

Eris put up this link for the Type R, There's also a RJ variant with J2/M2:

Here you go!
Let the fight for the staterooms nearest the fresher begin! Actually it's all en suite so sadly no drama there...
Actually this variant has really neat stuff going on that I'll leave you to deliberate and cogitate on how to best abuse...

I'm good with that.joertexas wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 9:39 pm Eris put up this link for the Type R, There's also a RJ variant with J2/M2:

There are many "R Type" maps and I was looking for one with a "clean" cargo deck - which this has (and was the original design concept for the ship).
Of course you'll surely want wreck the whole "roll on/roll off" design by installing collapsible fuel tanks???

Is the Viper's Nest an R or an RJ?Tiglath wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 3:21 amI'm good with that.joertexas wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 9:39 pm Eris put up this link for the Type R, There's also a RJ variant with J2/M2:

Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
When the scout said "Major Smith", I thought it might be our Smith. This one is female, so not. Unless Smith's behaviour was due to him being unhappy with his situation, and has now decided to be there 'authentic self'.
We shall have to think up some new names for the ships. How about "Righteous Indignation" for the Deliverance. Or, since revenge is a dish best served cold, how about "Absolute Zero". Or some clever play-on-words for all three.

Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
How about making a holding company (SEMC Holdings) with three companies under it: SEMC, SEMC Transport and Bastion Inc.
SEMC is the troop element
SEMC Transport holds the ships and provides convoy services and charters out the Saxon if not needed
Bastion Inc is the base element.
That allows this game to concentrate on SEMC with the shipping and base running in the background
